Charlie Adam is at the centre of today’s transfer speculation circus with Ian Holloway confirming that Blackpool have turned down bids for their skipper. The offers from Birmingham and Aston Villa and are thought to be in the region of £2.5 million; Sunderland are also thought to be an interested party.

Holloway reacted to the bids by confirming that Blackpool were under no pressure to sell their star asset…

“We’re a well-run club, we’ve got no reason to sell anyone, in fact we want to add in this window, not lose anyone.”

He did however also confirm that he has had talks with Adam only this morning and indicated that the player could move on if the money was right…

“It’s important to keep working with him [Adam] to achieve one of his ultimate goals, which is to play for one of the top four or five, or even six, clubs. We have got him for 18 months on his contract and if one of those top clubs I told him this morning come in then I might have to consider it, but they would have to offer the right amount of money for this club to move forward.”

Fantasy Managers will need to monitor the situation closely. There’s no doubt that Adam has adapted brilliantly the Premier League stage and, while his goal and assist returns have remained moderate (3 goals, 4 assists), Adam has stood out in Holloway’s side and dominated their Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Bonus Point returns as a result. The heartbeat of the team, Adam tops of the FPL Bonus rankings with a hugely impressive haul of 27. Whilst he remains at Bloomfield Road that total would seem likely to keep ticking away – a move in the January transfer window would likely disrupt that. Certainly if either Villa or Birmingham are successful with follow-up bids, you would expect Adam’s returns in terms of Bonus to take a dent, while his influence at set-plays could also diminish.

In the short-term, his Fantasy owners will be hoping that this latest speculation will not get in the way of Adam taking to the field for Blackpool’s second fixture of the Gameweek on Wednesday. The Scot will wear the Gameweek 22 armband for many Fantasy Managers when Blackpool take on Liverpool and, having returned another couple of Bonus in the defeat to Birmingham last week, hopes will be high for further profit. Adam was rested for Blackpool’s 2-0 FA Cup defeat to Southampton at the weekend.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Quick vote for the better combination for GW 23-28:

    A. Rooney, Varney
    B. Tevez, Odemwingie

(Need to keep injured Carroll as bought him at 5.4m)

Assuming you already have Nani, so I vote for B. If you don't have Nani or Berbs then you have to get the Rooney to have a hand in the Man U production.

N'Zog is probably the best budget midfielder. His bonus point hauling ability is second only to Adam, and he's the Wigan creative force.

He far outweighs Brunt who's playing in an off-form West Brom team.

If he gets above 8 points in the next week or two his price is going to rocket, and it will be a right pain in the arse to shoehorn him in without a wildcard. I think he could be worth the risk.

            Nani, Fabregas, Lampard, VdV, Barton

            Packed with Geordie goodness. 🙂

*Dawson could be an interesting prospect.

Dare I say it. Too much Geordie goodness? Funds permitting, Barton to Adam would give you another penalty taker & BP magnet.

Arsenal v S*urs may get postponed. That & Arsenal's fixture congestion makes investment in 3 players very risky, beyond a couple of weeks.

Well this is the side I like going forward from about GW26 ish. Leaves me with ziltch in the bank, so will undoubtedly be tinkered with before I get to launch it. Just playing around with coming up with the strongest side possible containing both Lampard and Fabregas.

Re. Dawson - suprised more people aren't looking at him to be honest.

Fabianski is perhaps the better option. Chesney looks like he's going to get the cup games.

I'm a 31 years old, attractive and athletic male. I like surfing, swimming, running, yoga and playing football. My favourite colour is blue, and my song of the day is 'Ma Do Va Do' by Matzka. Kick-ass tune! I like the feeling of sunshine on my face.

In other news, my team is totally awesome. I think all those people wildcarding this week should get in Elmander The Moose! He's gonna score big this weekend! Don't chase the points, GET the points! Woo! Also, about a million more people should get in on some Bosingwa-coloured action. He's got a mono-brow! What more do you want?

Finally, David Beckham? No, thanks. Luis Suarez? Yes, please. Fin.

    Evening all.
Still fiddling about with WC options, opinions welcome.

    For Week 23 DGW

    1. Lampard, Tevez, Campbell

        Ya its a tough call,

Could see N zogbia do ok but then again its Wigan and Villa at home and Liverpool away could only mean 6-7 points which Lampard could make with one kick of a pen.

Il be mulling it over but i think as of now im siding with going with some Chelsea coverage.

Their run of fixtures could go either way re goals.

Im thinking its probably wiser to back them. Dont think can do as good as last year and win the league but they should be in the top 4 by season end again.

Im fairly tempted to give Lampard the (c) this weekend too.

I have a slight dilemma. I want to bring in a United defender and forward next week but I dunno who to take out.

I want Evra for either Baines(have Coleman) or Kolarov

No idea what striker to remove.. Tevez(lose .5m) Carroll(lose .4m) Torres (miss his dgw)
I'm not even sure of which United forward to get.. Barbatov could well be benched for one and Rooney might aggravate his injury.

    Any wise words from anyone?

I think you're barking up the wrong tree - you don't need a Man Utd forward. You NEED Elmander The Moose and his hat-trick points in gameweek 23. Get rid of Carroll, and get The Moose in before his price rise. TotalFPL have him at 97% for a price rise. DO IT NOW!

I've been looking at Simon Davies for Fulham's DGW, is this a good choice? I already have Hangeland.

If I don't take Davies I have enough to get N'zog in but have 0.0 in the bank. Planning on getting Brunt for his DGW week 27, but may need to drop Adam and N'zog to make that work

To be honest, I think Simon Davies was a little "flash in the pan" like. Don't expect returns like that very often...if you want to back Fulham (who have been very very poor away from home) then look at someone like Dempsey, who is playing out of position as an extra forward, or Chris Baird, who gets forward a lot for a fullback...I bet Simon Davies doesn't get more than 5 points in the entire DGW..

The more I dwell upon the matter, it is becoming clearer that gwk 27 is the WC week for me:

-I can get by on the team I have
-Berba and Fabs for gwk 24
-the toil of cup replays and injuries
-rest and rotation (No. 1 rule:Play players that play)
    -the new transfer window
-the Dalglish galvanising factor upon LIV
-the perils that is the dgw27
    -gwk 25 can get Rafael
-gwk 26 can get Dajour if not rotated

    Need to consider anything else?
