While Carlos Tevez left his Fantasy owners feeling warm and smug once again – Robin Van Persie waltzed gracefully back onto the scene this evening to turn heads and leave even Tevez owners pondering their striking options.

Re-introduced back into the Gunners lineup back in Gameweek 21, we all knew Van Persie’s qualities. It seemed inevitable that they would bring him to the fore soon enough, and so it proved. Exploiting the seemingly relentless promptings of Cesc Fabregas in midfield, the Dutchman was the chief tormentor with two goals, as Arsenal simply toyed with West Ham at Upton Park in their 3-0 win.

Van Persie’s brace and impressive showing has seen him blink decisively on the radar tonight; his emergence as Arsenal’s new attacking consideration now threatens to banish the Fabregas vs Samir Nasri debate to sideshow status.

Arsenal have a run of exceptionally kind fixtures – they have a dream double fixture in Gameweek 27 and this evening we saw them reinstated as potentially the most devastating attack force in the league. Fantasy Managers will urgently need reminding of Van Persie’s propensity to pick up injuries in order to help resist what already appears to be a considerable pull towards the 9.6 valued striker.

Nasri owners will hope that this was simply Van Persie’s turn in the sun; that their man will be able to soon reinstate himself as Arsenal’s key goal threat. Investors in Fabregas meanwhile will be downbeat having watched Van Persie step up to their man’s spot-kick duties and claim the Arsenal skipper’s customary 3 Bonus Points.

The solution to such a problem is simple – buy in Van Persie and cover more bases. You can throw around talk of “eggs” and “one” basket, but on tonight’s evidence, Arsenal have the tools to exploit their forthcoming fixtures in devastating style and Van Persie looks the sharpest in the box.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    terry, djourou, coleman, rafael, walker
    n'zogbia, adam, nani, vdv, dempsey,
    rooney, tevez, rvp

basically im trying to figure out if its woth down grading dempsey to a 6.3 or less mid and putting in foster in goal?

any advice would be appreciated anything else i should look at?

No Fabs or Nasri would be brave.. Maybe downgrade Rooney after GW24 upgrade someone to one of the Arsenal pair. Gordon is a good pick, and good for the money.

Both true, as it's a WC question I was thinking more over the rest of the season. The other thing about Sunderland is some of their cleansheets have come in unexpected games, so you never know tougher opponents. But yeah, if you're only talking about the next few weeks then there are probably better choices than Gordon.

yeh going back to you guys saying no nasri or fab its true its a bit of a risk but dont really want 3 arsenal players and feel rvp will get points due to nasri and fab?
if i was to get nasri id have to downgrade terry which means no chelsea coverage at all.

cheers for advice on foster wont get him then any reccomendations of a cheap keeper or stick with gordon?

It's very hard to know where Arsenal's goals will come from. I mean, Song even nearly got another goal yesterday! Not having Fabregas or Nasri could be a differentiator, if they don't perform and RVP gives you the Arsenal points and if you have used the money freed up somewhere else. BUT, Terry is not that use, and he's certainly not a reason to not have one of the Arsenal midfield. Get another defender, or if yo really want a Chelsea defender then take a risk on Bosingwa for now and then get Alex when he's back.

For anyone who saw the full City game, how did Kolarov look? From the MOTD highlights, it looked like he had a couple of good saves, a couple of good forward runs, a couple of good crosses, but they did concede three goals, so likely they'll keep tinkering with the defense?

One of his more solid performances, but perhaps was still at fault for the first goal, his man got the cross in too easily. Made a couple of good blocks, one very crucial. Going forward he put in a few nice crosses but he doesn't (yet) link up with other players in the same way that we have seen Evra/Cole do...

Zabaleta didn't exactly have a great game though so I think he should keep his place unless Mancini is worried about Albrighton's pace vs Kol.

Thanks for your thoughts Gin. I'll keep an eye on him until I use my WC before GW27. If he's looking on the up it would good to keep him, as a cheaper more attacking City defender, especially as so many people are dropping him.

      Jaask
      Rafael Walker Evatt
      Nani VDV Nasri Adam (Cleverley)
      Tevez Rooney (C) Torres

7 Fit DGW players. And possibly 8 in Cleverley. And if you want then possibly even 10 if Konchesky and Salcido show signs of playing. 7 in reality though. Also I get my wildcard for GW27. I presume you prefer your team. I just think you have to much invested in defence and not enough up front.

    hello all,
    Drogba -> Rooney
    Bardsley -> Rafael

    Leaving a team of -

    Begovic
    Pantsil (dgw), Rafael (dgw), Coleman
Nasri, Nani (c, dgw), Adam, VDV
    Tevez, Rooney (dgw), Torres (dgw)
Subs - Foster, Albrighton, Crainey, S Taylor

I might be brave and play Albrighton over VDV if I feel he will get 2 starts...

Look ok? I've not got Fabregas and without wildcarding I cant really bring him in - so that one can wait for a few weeks

Feck didnt realize I will be in a pickle w.r.t who to bench for gw24:

    Gordon (Krul)
    Coleman Kolarov Nelsen Evra (Jara)
    Adam Nani VDV Nasri Yaya
    Tevez Torres Varney

Brackets indicate people confirmed on bench. Need to decide on two more & got two free transfers as well

bench VDV against Newcastle. Granted its an away game but surely they will concede a few.

Not sure if anyone is replying to me there! Im looking at

          Kol-Raphael

and one more change if need it, so would have

          Foster
          Vidic/Raphael/Evatt
          VDV/Zog/Adam/Nani/Nasri
          Torres/Tevez
          Robinson, Coleman, Carroll, Bardsley

I would play Coleman over Evatt inspite of the Blackpool double - but thats just me! The rest seems logical. A lot of folks here recommend Tevez->Rooney but I am not too sold on it, yet.

Anyone reckon Walcott might be worth a gamble? Rotation risk obvious I know, but he does tend to score big so if he gets a run might be a good pairing with fabs or rvp... What does you think guys?

I think the biggest question is which 3 would you consider are the best 3 to go with

    Pick out of:
    Dzeko
    Tevez
    RVP
    Rooney
    Berbatov
    Torres
    Drogba
    Carroll

I think this is the biggest choice on peoples minds

RVP, Carroll and Tevez from that list.
But you're missing good budget options like Odem and DJ.

    My WC team:

    --------- Begovic(Kingson)
    Rafael/Coleman/Pantsil(Djourou/Crainey)
    ----Fabs/Nani/Adam/Albrighton(VDV)
    -----Torres/Rooney(c)/Rodallega

All exept Begovic and Colemen got DGW for the upcoming week and it is pretty solid team for afterwards IMHO. Planning on going
Torres > RVP for next week and bench Albrighton/Pantsil/Crainey.

    Thought will be appreciated.

Nice but I think it's a bit too short term for a WC. Personally I would not want Pantsil/Albrighton/Torres long term, and Djourou is far from secure. You might find yourself taking hits very soon.
