Charlie Adam has submitted an official transfer request to leave Blackpool with reports confirming the news within the last hour.

Adam has been subject to a mass of speculation of late with Liverpool believed to be in poll position for the Scot’s signature having tabled a bit though to be in the region of £4 million. Liverpool’s interest seems likely to have sparked this move from the Blackpool skipper.

This is hugely significant news for Fantasy Managers with Adam nestled in many squads ahead of Blackpool’s double fixture in Gameweek 24. Adam was due to take the field against Man United tomorrow night, having scored in Blackpool’s first fixture in the 2-1 defeat to Sunderland. Adam would now seem very unlikely to see action against United, disappointing the thousands who backed him for the two fixtures.

In the longer term, a possible move to Anfield would also have a huge impact on Adam’s potential as a Fantasy asset. Adam may well have scored his fourth goal of the season against the Black Cats at the weekend but these goals have all come from the penalty spot – he has so far relied on a staggering total of 32 Bonus Points in the FPL to boost his points tally and establish himself as a 21% owned midfielder. It would seem very unlikely that he could maintain his rate of Bonus scoring within a Liverpool lineup alongside the likes of Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres and Raul Meireles. In addition, Adam would certainly not assume spot-kick duties ahead of Gerrard. That’s presuming of course that Adam would win a regular start in Kenny Dalglish’s side.

Should the move to Liverpool materialise, Fantasy Managers would have to monitor Adam’s prospects very closely in order to assess the effect on his return potential. Right now, a drop in interest and heavy sales would seem a likely outcome.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    WC Team:

    Foster / Begovic
    Djourou / Murphy / Rafael / Coleman / Kelly
Nolan / Nani / Ferguson / Van der Vaart / Fabregas
Odemwinge / Tevez / Van Persie

Opinions on the above. Birmingham players subject to change depending on the carling cup result on Wednesday.

    Also Berbatov or Odemwinge ?

i actually think odemwingie. he'll probably have 4 games to berbatov's 2 in the next 3 gameweeks (good chance of berbatov not playing v man city), and they include hme games with wigan west ham and wolves.

Have you noticed that many people base their WC team on who did well last GW? They should base it on who is likely to do well in the future not the immediate past!

I guarantee that many WC teams (including mine!) will have Van P, Berbatov and even Dempsey in, on the basis of GW24

A lot of Adam discussion on the previous page I see. I think it would be stupid of him to go to Anfield, he won't play ahead of Gerrard and Meireles, and certainly not Lucas.

I think he'd fit in at Sunderland alongside Cattermole with Henderson moving to the right (he did well there last year) and N'Zogbia on the left if that materializes.

Regarding David Luiz, will he move to Chelsea in January or the summer? Pity if he moves this month, because Alex would have been a steal at 5.8, when he's fit.

Is Adam really that similar to Xabi Alonso?

Alonso is extremely competent defensively and positionally, whereas from what I've seen of Adam, he isn't. Alonso's ball retention is also excellent, and Adam's pass completion rate is only 71% so far this season. Okay that's partly due to the fact that Adam tries more adventurous passes, but the fact still remains that Adam loses possession roughly once in every three attempted passes. Add that the fact that Adam likes to burst forward, leaving the defence exposed, and you have two pretty different footballers.

basically adam is alonso in that he has a great range of passing. but i agree alonso is the more intelligent and therefore better player defensively which is why i can't see a trio of gerrard adam and meireles working. they'd need an alex song type player in there too and if they put meireles deep it would be a waste of his talents

Not many creative mids around tho, even less if they have to fit into Liverpool's price bracket. Adam is the jewel in a low price crown from Tesco. The only comparison I could draw between Adam & Alonso would be...the 'A'. Good luck to him tho, a good opportunity to see if he can improve & achieve something more than survival with a team with greater potential.

Sky Sports took a hard line with Rodney Marsh after 'toon army'/tsunami comments (and rightly so).. this is slightly different but I agree that if it was someone less important the their set-up they'd be gone. Be interesting to see what disciplinary action is taken against them.

I still love the suggestion a few pages back that Richard Keys has an 'evil streak' and somehow led Andy Gray astray.

Should I look at wildcarding anyway after this GW has finish?

A nice change from the quite common WC's on here of late, I think Walcott and YaYa are good shouts too, can't fault your front 8 to be honest, while YaYa is a good shout, I wonder with all the big guns in that midfield and up front for City will he have much joy now up front, Barry Ferguson (!) mightn't be a bat shout for bonus potential in the triple (or maybe DGW).

I like your back 5 too, keepers are same as mine and I am thinking of keeping this combo too.

Is anyone else sick of constantly seeing Angeleri, Gueye, Cox, Castillo, Ward, Kightly, etc at the top of the TotalFPL price drops section?

    1. They don't seem to be falling in price.

    2. Who gives a f*ck, anyone who is a serious enough player to check rises/falls won't have them!

I'd much prefer if they cleaned that list up and we were told if players who'll actually fall were 50% of the way there, for example.

Even though WBA have easier fixtures through 27, I really like the idea of getting Nolan. Newcastle have scored 36 times so far compared to WBA at 29. Plus after 27, Newcastle have much better fixtures.

Very tempted, although he did f*ck all when I had him earlier in the season, then I sold him for N'Zog and he went apeshit against West Ham and Sunderland...

What you want to do is hold on for a bit longer. Let him drop in price a little more. Then, sell him on just before he bangs in a couple of goals.

              Like I did with Torres.

Depends. I got rid at the start of the injury, I had a feeling this would happen, got lucky to be fair. And I had planned to get him back in on my wildcard GW27, if you have wildcard then get rid IMO, you'll want him back.

      Have to get rid now.

Torn thigh muscle, could be middle of March before he's back.

Besides, there are loads of great striking options. Revamp your team to have three big strikers or if you're looking for a differential, go with Odemwingie or Hoilett.

Had you told me two games into the season that I would have 0 Chelsea players at this point and only the GK playing against them in their game, I would of never believed you, shows that no player will ever be a season keeper. Ever.

I remember when I was selling Malouda when he was 10.4 (10.1), there were people warning me that I could never get him back without losing money, now he's down to his original price. It's crazy! Only Chelsea player I'm considering in my wildcard is Alex, if he's back fit and playing.

He was the only player I had in my team from GW 1-38 last year. A bargain at £7m.

Didn't realise he was that cheap, only player I had from 1 - 38 was Myhill.

You think so? I suppose he was always that player I bought when there fixtures were nice. But I wasn't as cautious last season as I am this.

    Hi guys, need some help.

    Which option would you choose.

    RVP, Berb and Tevez.
    Or
    RVP, Berb and Bent.

Not sure I understand the question. You get one free transfer the gameweek after you use your wildcard.
