Chelsea ended a run of six away matches without a win by inflicting another mauling on Bolton in front of their own fans. Didier Drogba’s “worldie” strike accompanied goals from Nicolas Anelka, Ramires and Florent Malouda, as Chelsea’s forgotten attacking talent put Fantasy Managers on alert with an emphatic display.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side lined up without Frank Lampard in midfield – he was left behind nursing a calf injury but will be expected to return for the trip to Sunderland in Gameweek 25. Mikel made his return to the midfield following to compensate and slotted in alongside Michael Essien and Ramires.

Didier Drogba’s 30-yard stunner was just his second goal in his last 6 league starts, while his maximum 3 Bonus Points was his first since Gameweek 3. It provided further evidence that the Ivorian was gradually edging back to something like his best form, just in time to join the party as the competition for places in our Fantasy forward line heats up. Drogba’s double Gameweek 28 fixtures offer two Stamford Bridge encounters with United and Birmingham and could see interest in him revived. Drogba has dropped to a season low 12.2 in the Fantasy Premier League game.

Florent Malouda’s strike was his second in 5 games and took him to 9 for the season. Significantly, he earned further Bonus Points and has now gathered 8 in those previous 5 matches. Malouda is surely another who must be considered for Chelsea‘s double and, with his price and ownership falling dramatically of late, he offers a potential differential in the coming weeks.

The Chelsea back four kept their third clean sheet in 5 matches and once again Jose Bosingwa provided good value with fourth start over those 5 games. At 5.4, the Portuguese right-back continues to offer the cheapest route to Chelsea’s defensive returns, although with a move for Benfica’s David Luiz looking immanent, his place could come under threat in the coming weeks with Branislav Ivanovic always an option at right-back.

Bolton’s miserable run of form continues as they slipped to a fifth defeat in 8 games, their fourth in the last 5. Owen Coyle’s side have scored just 2 goals in those 5 games as Kevin Davies and Johan Elmander continue to struggle to find the net following an outstanding start to the season. The home clash with Wolves in Gameweek 25 now looks vital as the Trotters looks to halt the slide down the table. Fantasy Managers will have surely long since given up on Bolton as a source of Fantasy points.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

been off here a few days when are people generally wildcarding 27? That was my plan but getting edgy...

    wk 27
    Stockdale Gordon
    Djorou Viudic kelly Coleman Boswinga
    VDV Nani Yaya Bsrton/Adam Fabs
    VP Berb Carrol

    worried ..
no tevez or Rooney and a chelsea resurrgance....
Schwarger returning and Tim Cahill too..

    what are peoples thoughts?

    My present team is linked..

Fine to wait until gw27. Certainly wouldn't have Stockdale then though, you may as well get a cheap keeper who will play. It may be that Carroll is comfirmed out longer by then (?) so you could get rid.

My WC in GW27 will have a Chelsea player in it (at moment that will be Bosingwa) and, If I don't pick Drogba that week then I'll budget enough funds to bring him in for GW28.

But, even before last night, it had been my WC plan to get Drogba back by GW28 as he looked like he was starting to get back to form. And his price is much nicer now. Plus 2 games at the Bridge.

He's coming back to my team soon.

I called it last night, mate. I sold my last Chelsea player, Cole, last Friday night, so it was obviousl they'd keep a cleanie.

Sold him for Vidic so haven't lost out, but I didn't want to sell him this week. The plan was to keep him and sell Kolarov for Rafael but the red card changed that!

At least Drogs will be reasonable priced to bring back now.

Agree with this... I'm doing the same with Dempsey. Everton's fixtures are great so I'd be tempted to swap Huth to an Everton defender. Coleman seems a likely pick but with doubts over your other defenders a safe option might be Distin. I'd go Coleman though.

Why swap Huth? DGW27 and then 3 nice games (WBA, whm, NEW).

I can see decent returns for Huth there. I'm putting him in WC team for GW27. He can be benched for Chelsea and Spurs games in gameweeks 30 and 31.

I'm hoping to get Huth and Coleman into my WC defence.

Agree, people who wildcarded in Dempsey (and Hangeland) will want to get rid soon. Hangs goes in my WC. Fixtures toughen up for Fulham from then on.

Fair enough. I'm going for Harper as a handcuff to Foster so that I won't have that problem.

Look at Newcastle's fixtures from GW27 on and they are the perfect rotation with Birmingham. That allows me to get Huth without doubling up on Stoke def.

I reckon Huth will earn you more points than Begovic.

        I'd pass on him.

Just back from a major tourney on the other side of the world and he may well need a few games to adjust back to the speed of Prem league games (International games are played at a much slower pace than EPL games).

Better options for less money from WBA, Newcastle and Stoke mids who all have doubles that week too. That money saved is better spent getting Drogs back for GW28.

              No worries, man.

Biggest reason to not have him is that I want Drogba back for GW28 so I'm going to need a cheap mid. I'm wildcarding in Coleman in GW27 so he will be my Everton coverage for the double.

My WC in GW27 basically is being designed around getting Drogs back for the run in.

Andy Carroll could be out for another 3 weeks which would rule him out of Newcastles double on gw27.

    Source:

Also, ESPN are reporting today that Carroll will be out for 2 months which is a worry.

Relax. Odemwingie will be perfect replacement for Carroll for the DGW. West Brom have 2 juicy home games that week anyway.

Nolan or Barton would both be good shouts that week too.

    Adive please,
    plan was
    GW25 kuyt>Cahill - Free(will bench and play Vaughan(my cheapie)
GW26 Torres>RVP/Drogba - Free. (Cahill should be back)
    GW27 Vaughan/Adam>Fergusion/Bentley(depends if Adam goes)

    Concern is
RVP - possible rested V Wolves, no GW28
Drogba - possible flash in the pan display/still MU & MC to play

For a start I'd not do a sub for week 25 so you can play Kuyt, then do your two subs the following week.

I'd get RVP in... he might not start both games in week 27 but could still play 100+ minutes... come on for a nice 20 minutes cameo against a tired Wolves defence and grab a bonus goal.

You can always then go to Drogba in week 28 if that game is missing.

I feel I have to use my WC soon. have to do it before the players I want get to expensive. Which team is the best alternative:

    1)
    Begovic Foster
    Vidic Kelly Djorou Simpson Coleman
    Yaya Ferguson Vdv Walcott Nani
Berba VanPersie Tevez (ferguson -> barton and yaya -> cahill after some weeks)

    2)
    Begovic Foster
    Vidic Kelly Djorou Simpson Bosingwa
    Yaya Ferguson Vdv Walcott Nani
Berba VanPersie Tevez (ferguson - barton after gw 27)

    3)
    begovic foster
    Vidic Kelly Djorou Simpson Gohouri
    Yaya Ferguson Vdv Nani Fabregas
    Berba VanPersie Tevez

I think I have decided on the keepers and the forwards. the real question is whether fabs is worth having when being so much more expensive than walcott, considering I will have VanPersie anyway.

my other concern is that only one of the teams have chelsea cover, and bosingwa is probably out of the team if Luiz is coming in / when Alex returns.

Thoughts? Best of the teams? And suggestions for better ways of fixing the team?

wouldn't worry about fabs as rvp should outscore him and better value. I'll have him and walcott for the dbl. The less Chelsea scum bags the better! 🙂 I've not had any for a few weeks now and loving it!

Correct me if I'm wrong but this boils down to...

      1. Coleman and Walcott
      2. Bosingwa and Walcott
      3. Gohouri and Fabregas

For me 3 is the best, then 1 and then 2 (because of Luiz/Alex)

You look set up to generally play 3 at the back so a cheap 5th defender is fine.

I'd be tempted to swap Vidic and Djorou/Kelly to Rafael and K Toure.
