As promised, the free to enter Members Paddy Power Cup is here and now open for registration. The competition is open to all Members of Fantasy Football Scout. Gameweek 25 will be the qualifying round, so all scores (minus point hits) will be ranked, and the top 512 (or 256 should there be less than 512 entries) will progress to the First round proper.

If you’re new to the site and are unfamiliar with the format of this competition, here is a recap of the rules…

What is the Paddy Power Cup?
The Paddy Power Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Manager highest in the overall standings will progress.

Each Gameweek the number of teams will halve, and when the competition reaches the latter stages, Mark and Granville will make live draws on the podcast as we reach our exciting conclusion.

How do I enter?
There’s a new way to register for the competition this time round, simply follow this link and fill out the form.

This requires you to enter your Fantasy Football Scout Name (the one you use to post comments with), your FPL Team ID# (this can be found by clicking ‘History’ under your kit on your team page. The address bar should be of the form ‘http://fantasy.premierleague.com/M/entryhist.mc?id=X’, where X is your unique 1 to 7 digit team ID number. N.b. Valid links do NOT end ‘myteam.mc’), and your email address (the one registered with the site).

If you fail to provide all these details, then you will not be entered into the qualifying round. Please do not create a new, cup-specific team, only enter your existing team. A confirmation email will be sent shortly after you’ve submitted your details to acknowledge your entry has been received.

When does it start?
All entries received before the Gameweek 25 deadline will be entered into the qualifying round. The first round proper of the members Paddy Power Cup will be Gameweek 26.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?
Results from the qualifying round will be published around 24 hoursrs after Gameweek 25 has been completed.

When are the fixtures released?
The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each deadline.

Is there a prize?
Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the members competition with some great prizes, which break down as follows:

  • Winner – £150 worth of free bets
  • Runner-up – £75 worth of free bets
  • 3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets

If you’re not with Paddy Power yet, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10. (All offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions.)

    anyone smash it ? 😆

    wc team at the moment..

    foster/begovic

    coleman,djourou,kelly,rafael,simpson

    fab,nani,vdv,adam,barton

    rvp,berbatov,torres

    unsure on:
simpson-thought about a bir defender but their form sucks
rafael-injured and could be a rotation risk

cahill ,odem and tevez back in 27 for torres, barton and berba

Tevez away vs ManU in gw 27? Could/should be tough.

Everton not having a double in gw27 anymore(I think..?) is making me rethink my Cahill trsfr for the time being.

sorry tevez would be back in 28 if his form is good...

good point on cahill and adam has a dgw so id keep an eye on him. Nani is slowing down as i thought he would, there has been an element of luck to his form. theres a few options.

Some feedback on my WC blueprint for gw26 please:

    Foster/Begovic

    Rafael or Kolarov/Coleman/Djourou/Kelly/Murphy

    Nani/VDV/Cahill/Nasri/Adam

    Tevez/Berbatov/RVP

    my current team is

    Reina/AlHabsi

Ferdinand(EPIC FAIL), coleman, bardsley, kelly, simpson

    Nani, VDV, Fabs, Adam, Brunt

    Rooney, Tevez, Carroll

my WC leaves me with 0.6 in bank, want to do nasri->malouda for GW 28 and need all the 0.6 would you play the WC now? Would mean a downgrade at keeper, cahill on bench but lost my huge lead by not having RVP/berbs in my squad. Im rambling. I just want to get this WC thing over with. I cant sleep these days.

Wouldn't want Cahill seeing as they don't have a double gameweek in 27 now. There's also no way of knowing what kind of form he'll be in once he gets back. I'd hold off.

              Not true.

Djourou played ahead of Squillaci a few games back. He's also been on good form. No reason to expect him to be dropped.

No reason? So you're saying there's no reason to rest Djourou for the Barca game 3 days later? The whole Arsenal team is a rotation risk around that double, just so you know.

That's true, but if it's purely on a first team basis, Djourou won't be dropped for Squillaci.

Wenger has already come out and said that he is not going to rotate now if he can help it.

There's no reason to doubt him on that so I'd say your Arsenal starters are fairly safe.

with everton not doubling in GW 27(have coleman) and djourou a rotation risk that week, would you guys consider a WBA defender for that week? I know they arent known for CS, but home to wolves and west ham. If there was ever a short term punt on a WBA defender, this would be it, no?

tbh none of them, wba and blackpool have both at home but I'd never want a defender from them, newcastle, stoke and tot have 2 away games. Think about who you'd want for the fixtures before and after 27 as well.

I agree. Keep Coleman and Djourou anyway.

Huth is a decent shout even with the 2 away games as they're both games he could score in.

Like Champ says though, think about the following weeks as well. Albion def not a great choice imo. Better off with one of their mids or Odem for the double instead.

Not so sure - I find these 4mill double gw defenders a waste of time. They very seldom get decent points and often have k*k games just after the double gw.

But I suppose it's worth a try in this case.

Sometimes you can get lucky and they keep a cleanie or bag a goal, like Cathcart just did.

By and large though you're right, they're not worth it even on a DGW.

I know we've had stacks of these, but I'd like some feedback on a WC team Ive got in mind for either GW 26 or 27:

    Robinson, Al Habsi
    Coleman, Kelly, Simpson, Murphy, Bardsley
    VDV, Cesc, Adam, Nani, Brunt
    RVP, Berbatov, Tevez

As opposed to my old team:
    Stockdale, Carson
    Ferdinand, Skrtel, Gohouri, Crainey, Bardsley
    VDV, Cesc, Adam, N'Zogbia, Nani
    Drogba, Tevez, Piquionne

It leaves me .5 in the bank. I know the defence in my WC team seems a little weak, but the way I see it, there are less and less cleansheets nowadays, while the strikers are scoring more often, hence expensive strikers. I've got enough coverage for when my Arsenal and Birmingham players go off to the Carling Cup. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance

Good shout about Malouda. I heard that he was playing as somewhat a 3rd striker against Bolton, plus they've got good fixtures coming up and he's less popular than Nani.

About Ferguson, my rival already has him and I want a team that is as far away as possible from his, while still being rational. Brunt has a delicious DGW in GW 27 (West Ham and Wolves at home) which really can't be ignored.

I think that's something I've had to get my head around in the past few weeks. A great defence isn't a gaurantee for cleansheets week in week out.

I'm not going to do your Tevez suggestion, simply because I'll lose .5 in doing it. Plus I hope I won't regret my potential Nani->Malouda trade. I got Nani for 8.4

Trying to get RVP in my team and was thinking
    Carroll – RVP
Bale – Kompany (Man City) to try and free up some funds…

    Any other suggestions??

    Team is:
    Foster / Kingson
    Sagna / Konchesky / Vidic / Evatt / Hangeland
    Watson / Nasri / Adam / Bale / Nani
    Tevez / Berbatov / Carroll

While I like your thinking about RVP, I think Barton, Ferguson or even Vaughan will be better than Kompany. Barton is pretty reliable for an assist or two, Ferguson gets loads of bonuses and Vaughan will flourish if Adam leaves.

On the assumption the player will be on the bench, I'll say Ferguson because he's the cheapest.

I'm going to use the same forwards as you with my wildcard (team's above). It's a pity because I think a lot of forward lines are going to look the same from now on.

Sh*t. This is how my 2nd team, which I wildcarded for, did: http://fantasy.premierleague.com/M/eventhist.mc?id=1843994&event=24 - 142 points. My regular team: 82 🙁

I hate all the resting business on this site, apparently every big player has a chance of being rested every home game.

Every single player, in every single game has a chance of being rested, or dropped for another so... it all a load of balls !

Didnt SAF rest Berba after his 4 goals earlier in season?

You never can tell, unless mgr comes out and says it my advice would be... IGNORE !

I'd say you've got the right team, wrong captain.

I'm personally going for Berbs or RVP capt.

Who will be score the most points for a Keeper this GW, between Kingson or Foster, both at home. Thinking Foster as he might get some saves?

Kingson could easily break down with his latest injury. I would go Foster out of the two.

so no treble for birmingham and no double for everton GW27, and potentially Arsenal v spurs and chelsea v birmingham off gw 28 unless moved to mid week, sort of changes things a bit???

Yeah looks a goal threat and good for assists if he continues to play just behind Torres. Not sure I'll be looking to bring him in though.. seems to be a wealth of midfield options going forward.

My lineup for this week is:

    VDS
    Djourou/Zabaleta/Hughes
    Nasri/Nani/VDV/Adam
    Berba/RVP/Tevez

    Foster/Nolan/Coleman/Murphy

Right lineup? dont think i could fit nolan in anywhere.
