While Chelsea have gleefully announced the completion of the Fernando Torres deal, Liverpool themselves have tonight just confirmed deals for both Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez.

Liverpool’s makeshift official site, straining under the weight of heavy traffic, has tonight stated that Carroll has signed a five-year-deal at Anfield after passing his medical and will wear the number 9 jersey. The fee has yet to be confirmed but reports suggest a sum of around £35 million.

Suarez meanwhile, has signed a five a half-year-deal in a deal worth 26.5 million Euros. The Uruguayan international has been given the number 7 shirt.

We will bring you Scout Reports on both players in the next 24-hours along with a round-up of all the other significant deals from the day.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Im worried that luiz may be rotated sometimes with ivanovic and alex at times or that he may just be absolute gash and that ivanovich will be rotated with bosingwa at right back. Sod it. I think ive convinced myself that cole is the answer.

Cole and Terry are the only ones safe though... Luiz could take a while to settle, and when he does play then Ivan/Bos could be rotated at RB, depending on the ease of the fixture because we'll need some natural width on the right.

More likely me thinks, I reckon he'll go for the diamond with Lamps at the point. Ramirez and Malouda in the middle and Essien deep. same back 4 as you Jamsiep.

He could go with either Lampard or Malouda at the 'tip of the diamond', although in reality there would be plenty of movement and they'd probably both end up there from time to time every game..

I'd prefer Malouda to start there though. Lampard didn't adapt at all well to playing there last season, and the role that Malouda was playing at the start of the season - with Cole basically playing as a left winger - was pretty central, and he thrived there.

If our fixtures weren't so rubbish, and I mean RUBBISH, then I'd recommend it..

Well, once we know who Carlo wants us to play with Torres. I'm just assuming at the moment that we'll play a diamond midfield, but it's obviously not a given.

True, with the quality of players they have they are able to interchange and that includes Ramirez and Essien but I reckon thats the formation Ancelotti will go for. Did he not play similiar to that at A.C or was it more a 4-1-3-1-1 or something like that? 😉

Yep, he played a diamond midfield - with Kaka at the tip - at AC, and for the first half of last season at Chels.

Bit left field but he could play 5-3-2, with Boswinga and Cole as the wide men, Luiz as the spare guy at back. take your pick of middle 3. Essentially a 3-5-2 for most games!

I like it! I haven't seen too much of Luiz but from what I have seen, and read about him, he looks very competent on the ball, so could step up into the midfield if need be..

I do think that signing Luiz is a little harsh on Alex though, assuming Luiz becomes first choice alongside JT. Alex has never put a foot wrong in a Chelsea shirt, at least as far as I can remember, yet he'll be relegated back to the bench again. 🙁

    Foster / Begovic
Coleman / Kelly / Rafeal / Kolorov / Bolton defender*
    Walcott / Adam / Fab / VDV / Nani
    RVP / Odemwingie / Tévez

*1 week only transfer to walker (or simpson) next week (gw26)
then week 28 Walcott -> Cahill + 1 spare transfer

Is what Torres said about Liverpool really THAT controversial?

Liverpool are in the Europa League and will be next season, have no prospect of winning a trophy, and would only have signed Suarez this window were it not from the Chelsea money.

I'd actually prefer a player that left united to be honest about why he went- and Torres was.

A little help here lads, here is my midfield:

    V. der Vaart, Nasri, Brunt, Nani, Adam

Nasri is obviously injured, so is Walcott a good choice to swap him in? I have 8.9m to spare.

Yeah I was just wondering if people think Walcott will start and get a decent amount of time on the pitch for the next game. I'll play my WC this coming weekend, so I'm covered for that one. 🙂

    Probably been asked many times
    Torres-stick or twist?

Have the WC in hand so could get him back in a GW or two if needed.
    Would be Torres to RVP.

i spose we'd have to find the highest scoring player of each gameweek, and then compare with the captains poll. The info is there, it's accessing it efficiently. All the scores for each gameweek are located somehere on the fpl site arent they? Is that star thing monthly or weekly? (i thought monthly)

rvp and fabs leading the poll, i dont think ill be captaining arsenal this week personally

    Arsenal v Everton

The bookies are firmly in Arsenal's camp in this one, pricing up the Gunners at 1/2 with Everton as big as 15/2. We're not sure that the prices should be that far apart, especially with Arsenal's talisman Samir Nasri absent from the fixture through injury. Everton have raised their game against the better teams on several occassions this season - drawing with Manchester United, Chelsea (twice) and Spurs, while they also beat the latter earlier this year. Their away form in the league has also been good, with just three defeats on the road from 12 games. Only Arsenal and Manchester United have had fewer defeats on the road. Seven of those games have been draws, so perhaps the 15/2 about the Toffees is about the right price. However, when you throw the draw in along with the Everton win in the 'double chance' market the 9/5 available with Coral is a fair bet. Arsenal are not a team to implicitly trust at home as Emirates defeats to West Brom, Newcastle and Tottenham prove, while Manchester City set their stall out well not long ago in a tepid goalless draw. With many of their stars forced to work hard on Sunday against Huddersfield, and Nasri missing, they are even more vulnerable.

    Verdict: Arsenal 1 Everton 1

All true enough. My own particular ranking for my (c) is
      1) Fabregas
      2) Odemwingie
      3) Tevez
      4) Nani
      5) RVP
      6) Adam
      7) Dempsey

      Hence the 40.6% accuracy.

    My front line is:

    Torres, RVP, Berbs

Do I dump Torres for Tevez or keep Torres on the bench as I can play Adam off the bench to join Nani, VDV, Walcott & Young and thus keep Torress moving forward?
