Chelsea are reportedly locked in talks regarding the scheduling of their FA Cup fourth round replay with Everton following the 1-1 at Goodison Park on Saturday. There are currently two options which Chelsea, Everton, Fulham, the FA and the Premier League are discussing. Both solutions cause issues for us Fantasy Managers.

The first of these would be to stage the replay on February 15 which would prompt Chelseaโ€™s Premier League clash with Fulham on Monday February 14 to be rescheduled, almost definitely back into the weekend on the Saturday or Sunday but a further postponement and a blank gameweek 27 for the two clubs isn’t entirely out of the question.

The second, and most likely solution, would be to hold the fourth round replay on February 19, which is also the same day as the fifth round of the competition. If Chelsea beat Everton on this date, then their fifth round tie against Reading will take place on March 1 or 2, meaning that the Premier League clash with Manchester United in Gameweek 28 would be postponed. This seems the most probable outcome with the BBC website already listing it on this day, Evertonโ€™s official site shows it as TBC, while in Chelseaโ€˜s official post-match report from Saturday they say…

โ€œโ€ฆand so it is back to the Bridge, likely to be on Saturday, February 19.โ€

In the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, a Chelsea Gameweek (either GW27 or GW28) could possibly be blanked with Fulham or Manchester United also set to miss out. Itโ€™s the United fixture which looks the most probable to go, as long as Chelsea are victorious in their replay of course. That would leave Chelsea with a blank in Gameweek 28 and United with just one fixture โ€“ away at Wigan.

This is a poser for us; a potential nightmare for the Premier League. If the Chelsea vs United game on March 1 is rearranged then the next possible slot for it would be at the end of the season in May, due to an already hectic schedule, bogged-down by Champion’s League fixtures. The two sides already have a fixture on May 7 at Old Trafford, and the next obvious slot would be the following midweek. This would set up a potentially decisive couple of days if, as expected, the two sides are still fighting it out come the end of the season. In FPL terms we could find ourselves with a Man United and Chelsea (double) Double Gameweek on GW 36; a mind boggling scenario which could ultimately prove decisive in our Fantasy seasons.

In the short term, the prospect of a blank for Chelsea doesn’t bode well for Fantasy Managers; itโ€™s a major frustration given Fernando Torresโ€™s recent arrival and the signs that Frank Lampard is back to his best following his 12 FPL point haul last night. Chelsea remain a highly owned team with Ashley Cole (26.6%), Florent Malouda (24.6%), Didier Drogba (22.3%) John Terry (14.9%) and Petr Cech (9.4%) all darlings of the game. This complicated situation could also hinder those Fantasy Managers with United and Fulham players in their ranks of course.

We can only await an official announcement.

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

So assuming tottenham don't get top 4 this season.
Is it me or is there a high chance Man united will bid for Gareth bale in the summer ?

and if so, how likely is it that he could be persuaded to move to the theatre of dreams.

Thanks JF - you write very well, always enjoy your articles.

If there are any scouts around - what is the process around article? Does Mark come up with a list of all the articles and allocate them or do scouts take it upon themselves to come up with stuff off their own backs? Is it always Mark sub-editing and publishing the finished articles or does Granville/A.N.other do that too?

There is a certain level of trust if something urgent pops up, but I can only say from my own experience I much prefer Mark or Sir Paulos to look over what I've written as I'll happily admit I'm not 100% "there" so someone with more experience, and just better at writing, always helps.

Ignore the Everton bit, I say hence it now being missing from the article - I don't believe Everton v Bolton is under any risk whatsoever, I hope I'm right.

What it means is there is a (small) chance Fulham could have a blank gameweek and quite a good one United lose a fixture.

It's on my shoulders now if Everton/Bolton is postponed, but I really can't see it having any impact.

So yeah, it's not disastrous by any means, but it's a good leaner for those on or to be on a wildcard (read: me) that there's potentially a good chance you might not need that third United player, say.

There are plenty of players that should help you prove that a player isn't automatically a PL success because he has a great Dutch record.

Then again the sample isn't large enough to say that scoring in Holland means nothing at all either.

Why are people keeping Kelly in their Wildcard team? Fixtures are fairly bad.

He's cheap as chips, and Liverpool defenders are playable most home games if their mini-revival continues. There are few, if any, better value defenders than him I reckon.

If money isn't any trouble, I'll keep him, otherwise I have no problem with Simpson as a 5th defender.

I'm pretty much set on my wc team now, anyone see any major holes?

      Foster, Begovic
Coleman, Rafeal, Simpson, R Johnson, C. Clark
      VDV, Nani, Fab, Adam, Albrighton
      Van Persie, Rooney, Tevez

Plan is to switch R Johnson to Huth GW 28

        barton in for albrighton

him and adam rotate quite well until the end of the season whereas albrighton probably wont start every game

interesting about barton, do you think newcastle will be ok?

i think newc will continue to be inconsistent but barton will still get his fair share of bps and the odd assist

Barton is a risk IMO without Carroll on the end of things.

but its a 4.7m risk, he'll play more than albrighton

ill only use him when adam has a tough fixture

Yeah for a 4.7 mid I agree he's the best there is, I've had him most of the season.

Depends whether you have 3 premium strikers I guess, atm I've still got a cheapie up from so can afford all £6m+ mids.

                  *front.

Anyway, my point was kind of irrelevant.

So to summarise: Nolan > Barton > Albrighton

Any advice for using my WC this week? Current team is

      Foster, Krul
      Djorou, Vidic, Cole, Foley, Toure
      VDV, Nasri, Nani, Adam, YaYa
      Berbativ, Tevez, Carrol

Cole to Terry a good move to free up funds?
