The midweek Fantasy Premier League gameweek saw over 460 members cut down to 256 in readiness for this weekend’s first round proper of the Paddy Power Cup. With such a large proportion of entrants facing elimination, the cut-off score was relatively high. The magic number (after point hits of course) was 60.

Unsurprisingly, that’s seen plenty of casualties with names like marknlard (59), Anorak (53), JamsieP (58), Gargamel (59) and applebonkers (57) to few but a few, all biting the dust. Along with marknlard and Gargamel, a total of 29 managers all missed the grade by a single point.

The wooden spoon of the qualifying round goes to intuitif who netted an appalling score of 19 (not the best week to take a 36-point hit).

The site’s contributors have been slashed in representatives, with Andy (58), Big Dunc (56), Sir Paulos (59), johnfinlay (57), elfozzie (52), I’m Not Marshal Foch (51) and SUPERIOR BEING (43) all making a swift exit.

Despite all those exits, there are plenty of big names in the hat for round one, the draw for which will be announced in a few hours.

The prizes courtesy of Paddy Power for the competition are a free £150 bet for the winner, £75 for the runner-up and £50 for third place.

If you’re not with Paddy Power yet, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10. (All offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions.)

So I added my own tweak to the greasemonkey script - now I can sort players based on their total for the last 3 GWs. If anyone is interested I can share it - lemme know

Big Dunc the very man i was hoping was here!

You reckon Cahill will come back into the team at the weekend?

Latest tweet seems to say he will be fit for selection.

I may take a punt and just lose Barry Ferguson

Yea looks like it, I've given up trying to predict what Moyes will do though.

The one thing I'm sure of is that if we lose this game we are in deep sh*t, so if there is any way he can play then he will be on the pitch.

Cant argue with Ferguson to Cahill, looks like a good move to me, as long as you have some other Birmingham cover for 26 and 28

Ya i got ferguson due to money issues when i wildcarded and then hoped he would have 3 games.

But the 3rd game has gone by the wayside and it seems also that Bentley will take from his BP potential.

So he doesnt seem as good, Was goin to do it week 28 but as i also have Odem, and Adam who are doubts. I might just take a 4 point hit. This is what im looking at:
              What you reckon?
              Berbatov to Tevez
              Ferguson to Cahill

              Foster
              Coleman,Vidic,Djourou
              Cahil,VDV,Nani,Adam,Fabregas,
              Tevez(c),RVP

What do people think with regards to Foster/Gordon?

I think it's pretty much 50/50 whether they each get a clean sheet. I can see Keane and Etherington putting one past each.

So I either double up on Sunderland, or hedge my bets with Birmingham. Guts and Glory? Or shrewd move?

IMO Westham will score for sure & Stoke pbbly has a lesser chance of scoring. Play the one who is likely to get more save points - think Westham should be more attacking so play Foster 😀

No it means the raw points (not doubled) your captain scored in FPL that week divided by the highest points any player you had scored that week.

So if you pick right it's 100% for the week, you could pick wrong every week and get 30% or 80% depending on how wrong you were.

It's your bench that's more worrying.

284 points you've collected this season from players on the bench.

Divide that by 25 and over 11 points per week on average you have on your bench.

depressing. Id like to think its based on tough decisions because ive had good options, alot of that is benching the wrong defenders, Ive had loads of CS on the bench this season, 4 or 5 from Dann alone. Ugh. And of course the streak continues with picking brunt over vdv last week. if i could have just 200 on bench and 84 added to my score, Id feel pretty good. captaincy not too bad i guess. Cheers, a green arrow for you for the info this weekend

@ Umo, I'm not really a fan of Alan Partridge, but I can't really watch anything requiring sound anyway.

I really hate genres of comedy where we're watching a social inept digging themselves into an ever deeper hole, like Curb Your Enthusiasm or the Armano Inuccio show.

I did like the Office from the little I watched though. And I like the Ricky Gervais show, but I guess those are different.

Hi Guys, can I have some views on my team for this GWK please? Esp. my subbing Baines ..

Stockdale (Foster) - if stockdale doesnt play am happy with Foster
    Vidic, Hangeland, Bardsley (Baines, Williamson)
    Nani, VDV, Fabs, Adam, Dempsey
    Berbs, RVP (c) (Carroll)

I have £1.2 in cash, and havent used my WC.

    Much appreciated

That looks fine, though I might play Baines instead of Bardsley (if Cahill's back, I smell assist points). Quite similar to my team, and I think I might do alright, despite six players playing away.

In GW 27 when the 5th Round is on Feb 19th, but nothing has been announced to say for sure the game will be moved to March 1st/2nd. So similar to the Chelsea situation really but Chelsea need to win to lose their FPL game and that is confirmed.

He went right up to 98% over a couple of days on Total FPL for rising (after his protection had gone) then fell away again off the chart. That's the closest i've seen anyone get to a rise and not go up like that.

He didn't really look like he knew where he was supposed to be playing, Mancini had him playing on the left with Tevez leading the line. He needs to go 2 up front to get the best out of him, or at the very least 4-4-1-1

One free transfer this week - if I don't use it, then use the WC next week, I've still only got one transfer in GW28. Right?

The percentage thing, yeah its reasonably handy but its possibly the least useful thing that greasemonkey does.

Its a good thing. My link tells you all about it. Basically the bench thing works out the TOTAL points of your players - starting 11 AND the bench then works out what percentage of the total was wasted locked on the bench, yours is very low - meaning you tend to pick the right starters and very rarely have any point scorers on the bench.

    Yaya Nani Adam Fabregas VDV
    RVP Tevez(c)

    Bench: Odem Kelly Simpson

(got lost on last post, probably because it's so long)

I’m leaning towards playing WC next week. good fixtures for current team this week:

    Hart West Brom (H)
    Rafael Wolves (A)
    Kolarov West Brom (H)
    Coleman Blackpool (H)
    Djourou Newcastle (A)
    Nani Wolves (A)
    Walcott Newcastle (A)
    Van der Vaart Bolton (H)
    Berbatov Wolves (A)
    Tevez (C) West Brom (H)
    Van Persie Newcastle (A)
    subs (foster, adam, foley,whitehead)

If I WC’ed I would lose Hart and a good chance of a CS this week for essentially the chance to have an extra DGW player/player playing in 28 + cahill in this week if he is fit

But having said that who is actually at risk in the internationals?
    VDV
    RVP
    Tevez
    Adam
    Djourou?
    Walcott?
    Coleman?
    Kolarov?
    yeah that’s actually quite alot.

I think WC next week. Any thoughts?

Also, I want Nani, Yaya and even Berbs (if he plays - worried he might be rested) this week and I'm getting rid of all three in the WC, I think.

"I know I have niggles and knocks. It is always going to be like that after playing in a tournament but all being well I will be available on Saturday.

Not sure MF, he looks promising. He isn't a battering ram Carroll style by any means, but he works bloody hard. He's always chasing the whole time, I dont think he has the positional sense or composure to play lone striker just yet, though I think he should get a run in the team. Personally I'd like to see him and Lovenkrands up front, not keen on Best.

He wouldn't be a bad pick MnL, unlike Barton he never really relied on Carroll to score or assist. Really depends on what formation Pardew uses now, the 4-5-1 means he is far more of a goal threat, but 4-4-2 sees him slightly deeper.
He is certainly worth keeping an eye on, as he might even end up being OOP as a striker due to the Ameobi injury, though I'd be suprised to see it.
Long term we have Ireland and Ben Arfa coming back, difficult to say how he will be used then.
