Tonight’s Dugout Discussion action is sponsored by loneliness and/or being disenfranchised. While lovers up and down the country are going out for fancy meals, popping the question or buying that last minute bouquet at the petrol station, all we need to remember is we’ve got another game of football in store.

The lovers don’t have a monopoly on romance though, as the likes of David Luiz will be dressed to impress in his first start for Chelsea, while Steve Sidwell is on the prowl for more bait. Yossi Benayoun is left crying in the stands at his own Valentine loneliness, he’s also injured. Tonight’s full teams follow, the headline news is that Drogba is on the bench…

Fulham: Schwarzer; Baird, Hughes, Hangeland, Salcido; Duff, Murphy, Sidwell, Dempsey; Dembele, Johnson.

Chelsea: Cech; Ivanovic, Luiz, Terry, Cole; Essien, Ramires, Lampard; Malouda, Torres, Anelka

The Dugout Dicussion will be open as per usual for all of the evening’s action. Fingers crossed for a drab 1-1 own goal based affair and roll on the double Gameweek – starting tomorrow.

1.9 only left, and I must have (by the rules) at least 3 defenders... What do you suggest? I'am 15 of 10.000 players in my country, only 30 points behind leader. Thanks

Take out Vidic or Ivanovic for a cheaper defender (perhaps from Valencia). Put in a cheaper midfielder, perhaps from Roma or Milan, and then upgrade Eto or Soldado (if you can) to Ronaldo or Messi.

My wife and Dad both have one, and are happy with them. If you don't mind reading off a screen then it's fine, but no back light, which puts me off a bit. If you want to read random books, Amazon link to millions of free books to download, which is good.

You know how a book can be either heavy or with pocket books the sides want to revert to the "original position" etc.

Weight wise. The screen is as good as a normal book for me, but you don't find yourself holding pages open or your arms getting tired like with a book.

Pretty decent size. Slightly bigger than a normal paperback page. Worth getting a look at one in the flesh if you can - far more impressive than descriptions (and even the TV ads) can show.

Torres has been awful for 18 months, but he's still world class, easily worth £50m.

Rooney has been awful for 9 injury-hit months, so he's totally over-rated and Utd would be best rid of him...

Not arrogance at all. Rooney is the most naturally talented English player since Gazza (if you can think of someone more talented, name him) - just hope he doesn't piss it up the wall like Gazza did.

OK, it's pretty subjective, examples might work better:

                    George Best
                    Frank Worthington
                    Glenn Hoddle
                    Matt Le Tissier
                    Gazza
                    Rooney

Not all made the most of it, admittedly.

Torres won the Euros with Spain, scored the winning goal in the final and also has a world cup winners medal while holding up a rubbish team domestically, Rooney has failed for England and plays for the biggest team in the country who can hold themselves up, you can't compare the two.

Euros, fine, he played very well then, but that was over 2 1/2 years ago. He did very little at the World Cup (see Thierry Henry in WC98, or Kleberson in 2002).

Rooney has not been fully fit at a tournament for England since Euro 2004.

Torres went to the WC injured and came back injured, do you even know what you are arguing about?

No one was saying Rooney wasn't fit while he was scoring 32 goals, that injury just appeared to cover up his marital problems, he flopped in the wc, injury had nothing to do with it.

I'm not so sure - Chelsea will be competing with City for the biggest names, and once the financial fair play rules come in there will be blood.

Utd and Arsenal will dominate until those fair play rules get rescinded (when Real Madrid nearly get kicked out of Europe for flouting the rules).

It's ownership debt, very different to the type of debt that Real Madrid have.

The rules are more about turnover and revenue than ownership debt.

The UEFA fair play rules just mean that the Glazers will have to sell up (for a profit), or pay off the debt.

11 titles in 18 years, 2 CLs in 10 years everyone that's owned or invested in our club in that period has made plenty of money out of us, we bring young players through wherever possible, lower net spend ( 😉 ) than Chelsea, Liverpool, City. Biggest stadium, most fans.

CP, I don't like the Glazers either, but at most they've taken £30-£40m out of the club per season. Which is f*cking out of order, but doesn't put the club at risk.

New owners could come in, buy out the Glazers' equity (only about £100m - £150m, they'd probably want £300m ish for it)pay off the debts of £650m and carry on as normal, with our operating profit of approx £50m per year.

When I first went to OT, Big Ron was manager, so I do remember when we were struggling (26 years of hurt). I remember when Michael Knighton nearly bought the club for £12m!

We were lucky in the sense that our period of dominance concided with the Sky money, but we'd always been 'a big club', with a huge fan base and a positive, popular style of play.

Not voluntarily, but if the new rules mean they have to reduce the debt, they will have little option. We wouldn't be much of a meal ticket if we couldn't play in Europe, so they'd have to find new investment or sell.

Laughing at his poor misses. I would laugh at anyone who couldn't hit a barn door who had just moved for £50m. Football madness right there.

I will laugh harder than ever when you win just the league cup this year and be over the moon with it. The Fabs & RVP and co leave to pursue the need to win proper trophies.

Torres had to go. We got a great price. No hard feelings with him.

Looks like it, typical Liverpool fan, can only survive in misery and feel the world owes them a charity single.

Lots of people have fantastic early careers then lose that little something. Boris Becker, George Lucas, Eric Clapton.

I think there is a big chance that the problem is that he's exhausted. Similar to Rooney and Kolarov, I think he'll be better next season after a proper holiday and a full pre-season.

And before someone starts naming players who played the World Cup and are still good this season, each player is different in how many games they can cope with.

The same way people are annoyed about how much it's being talked about, I wonder if people would be so annoyed if it wasn't Rooney.
