Everton and Birmingham’s double fixture in gameweek 29 is under threat if Championship Reading force a replay at Goodison in their fifth round tie with the Toffees.

Everton have confirmed today that if next Tuesday’s tie ends in a draw, the replay would take place at the Madejski Stadium on March 8. That would mean that the Premier League clash with Birmingham at Goodison, currently scheduled for March 9, would be shifted to an as yet unknown date.

Everton currently have that Birmingham fixture and a visit to Newcastle in gameweek 29, promoting their players in our thinking. Tim Cahill has become a key target, although this news, coupled with the recent doubt surrounding his chances of making the weekend encounter with Sunderland, certainly casts doubt over investment before Tuesday’s Cup tie.

Birmingham themselves would of course lose their second fixture, leaving them with a home clash with West Brom in gameweek 29 to follow this week’s blank.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Afternoon gents, I'm not really too fussed over transfering Cahill in. I think A.Young may be a better option for me, plus I can't afford him without transfering Fabregas out and I want to hold on to Fabs for the mean time.

    Adam > A.Young?

    Gordon
    Coleman Kolarov Huth Vidic
    A.Young Nani Brunt Barton
    Berbatov Tevez

    Foster Odemwingie Djourou Fabregas

Its my own approach to prospective players but I would hold off on Young until he shows signs of improvement. He's been kinda poor lately for all the hype he's getting on FPL. I would wait it out with Adam.

It is not that big in my opinion, I am in Ireland and only one other person I know watches it. I watched my first Superbowl in 2001 and it was Rams and Patriots and the Pats won, and next summer I was in Boston for the summer, have been hooked ever since, and am a Fifa once a year and Madden NFL once a year kinda guy on Xbox.

Love how tactical the game is, every game can go down to the last 1 second.

    It's all going wrong eh?

I have no gk playing this week. And have Adam, VDV, Fabs, and Cahill in Midfield (I heard that Cahill took a knock at the weekend). Also have RVP....and Berbs & O'Shea might not get a run out either.

Already I have transfered in Ode -> Tevez (A must have this weekend)

But I'm thinking also to: -

    Fabs -> A Young / Mierles / Silva

    Stockdale -> Howard and/or Simpson -> Kolarov

Your advice on my team would be great.....Any other opions worth considering?

With so many players out you really shouldn't have got rid of someone who is actually playing. Though I admit Tevez could be good this week.
Fabregas to Young could be good for a while, but be careful with all the points hits

squad format - you replace the players who score low with players who play on a later date (i.e. if you play nani on the saturday and he gets 1, you can drag a sub on in his place who is yet to play (example a player who had a fixture on the sunday)

It's amazing how lower the scores are without BP's though, like if a striker scores 2, he will get 10, end of, whereas in the FPl in that case he would probably get 13, 3 BP's.

I like the way you can switch in and out, makes it a necessity to make a number of key calls throughout the week, like "will I take out a guy as (C) where he has an assist and I have 10 points banked, or risk it and captain Ronaldo playing away"

Anyone tried the new Comic Relief crisp flavours?
Donna got at the gammon, so I've been hungry today, but I must say, the steak and al flavour is quite nice.

No, not tried any sensations I don't think. I'm not a big crisp eater usually.

I do like salt and vinegar squares though....

I'm somewhat unconvinced by Ashley Young's FPL performance:
    6-10-2-1-1 the last five games.

Has he been better than this, just unlucky the points didn't go his way?

I got him in on WC and was terribly disappointed with his 1 point, I am not convinced by him but the fixtures were good and he is a quality player, I think we are all too easily swayed on here at times by "playing behind the striker" and "on pens", because if a team aren't in great form it doesn't matter where his is playing, and how often do penalties actually get awarded.

Will wait and see for a few weeks though.

Easy to see why you're keeping him.

I'm considering a 4 pt. hit move to field 11. Right now, I rate Meireles and Silva over Young.

Last 6 gameweeks he had an average of 2,3 goal attempts and 2,3 key passes per game, which is about the 7-8th best among midfielders in the same period

Are Silva and Meireles both over Young on those stats?

Villa are woeful, and there is little to suggest a wild improvement in form, although their fixtures are becoming favorable . . . but the real problem is, which midfielders are in form with favorable fixtures? Few. Silva scored a goal literally blind as it ricocheted off his backside. Meireles and Nani certainly fit the bill; everyone else seems a punt to a wild punt . . .

              Yeah, agree.
I guess I'll do Fabs -> Meireles before the inevitable price rise (tomorrow I guess).

Silva has 2,2 and Meireles has 1,7 key passes, while
Meireles has 2,3 and Silva has 1,0 goal attempts per game in last 6 gameweeks

Am I missing something as to why Ashley Young is being favoured so much over the cheaper, in form Stewart Downing 5bps in last two games), against two teams who have barely got one decent right back?

I'm confused, seems like a no-brainer to me.

I believe Young is being favored simply because of his position -- nothing in the statistics indicates he should be favored over Downing . . . but again, Villa have been woeful . . .
