Hot on the heels of the round two results, the draw for the third round of the Members Paddy Power Cup has been made and the fixtures can be viewed right here. Of the 32 fixtures there are several stand-out ties…

Having seen off pompeyfan in the second round, the fourth highest-ranked Fantasy Manager in the competition, denial, has been drawn in the glamour tie of the round against 5oth in the world, and highest-ranked manager in the competition, Zophar.

Another contender enjoying a fabulous season is current Paddy Power Cup III Champion, Gooner dave. He takes on Merlinho in the last 64.

The last remaining Scout Contributor in the Cup, Granville has a tough test against Dave Boozle.

Last week’s top-scorer xabi_14 is on an exceptionally hot streak, having clocked post-wildcard scores of 117, 75, 100 and 103. That mammoth four week glut has seen him catapult up the rankings from 217,542nd in GW23 to now 8,682nd in the world. In his way this week is NotoriousDRE, another in-form manager who has only notched three fewer points than his opponent in the same period.

Fixtures to be played over Gameweek 28, and I’ll bring you news of the results shortly after it’s conclusion. Good luck to all participating.

Once again, the prizes for the competition, provided by Paddy Power, are a free £150 bet for the winner, £75 for the runner-up and £50 for third place.

If you’re not with Paddy Power yet, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10. (All offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions.)

    Need opinions on transfers. Have 2 frees, but considering a few hits.

    Definites:
    Adam -> Meireles OR O'Hara?
    Fabregas -> Downing or Young?

    Possibilities: (each a 4pt hit)
    Al Habsi -> Begovic
    Rafael -> Kolarov

    Opinions on first two, and whether I should do any of the possibilities? TA!

    Planning on doing:
    VDV and Fabregas out
    Silva and Cahill (fitness dependent) in
    For an 8 point hit having already done Adam to young. If I did these transfers I would have a team of:
    Begovic
    Rafael Hangeland Coleman
    Nani Cahill Silva Young Barton
    Tevez (c) Campbell
    Subs: Foster RVP Djourou RJohnson
    Thoughts?

        I will get 4 points back in appearance points this week. So effectively I'm only taken a 4 point, and I fancy Silva and Cahill to score an extra 4 points between them. Plus Cahill has a DGW soon, so will gain another 2 points back.

    Huth Coleman Rafael Carr Gallas
    Nani Adam Barton Fabregas Bentley
    RvP Odemwingie Tevez

    Definitely gonna do Kolarov in for Gallas, just unsure about another 1 or 2. Perhaps Cahill and Downing/Silva in for Fabs and Adam? Only one free transfer this week though.

    i'm having a bit of a dilemma...

    hopefully i can field a starting 11 this GW but chances are that Kelly will not start and Cahill is not definite.

    i'm thinking about bringing Walker in for the empty void that my "punt of the season" Murphy has left in defence for a 4 point hit.

    should i take the hit or just hope that Kelly and Cahill will be fit in time?

      I have the same quandry .. see above.

      I'm in a similar situation (sort of) and my thinking is that as I have other transfers I'll want to make next week and the week after this is a good time to transfer Murphy. A lot of people will take at least a 4 point hit this week so this week is as good a time as any to take a hit.

        i am seeing it a bit differently .. i thik there is so much change going on at the moment (injuries, game changes etc) that a lot of people will take some big hits this week and I dont have to as I can field 11 though with one doubt .. it will be a big differential this week to not take a hit and save it for next week when we will know more about fixtures, injuries etc .. just my opinion ..

          Actually, I agree with this... and if I could play 11 without taking a hit I definitely would... in fact, I'd be happy playing just 10 I think.

          But if you know you want to swap a player (Murphy) and you have transfers lined up for the next 3-4 weeks then swapping that player becomes a 4 point hit (or you can’t do it) and in that situation, if the squad needed it, I’d do it now.

          Open Controls
      2. Arselandic

        yeah, i think it's time to bite the bullet and face the fact that the Murphy scheme has backfired and take the hit like a man, i'm gonna want Walker for the nice Villa home fixtures and need more depth in defence. i'm planing on rotating strikers for the next couple of GW's so this is as right a time as any to do transfer Murphy out...

        then the big question arrives, should i start Kelly who might come on as an 89th minute sub to secure a point or three for Pool or should i go for Odem? i really can't see him do anything at Stoke, plus i've got Huth. however, most of my main rivals in my mini-league have Odem and it would hurt like hell to leave him on the bench if he decides to bank in on that brace i had so masterfully forseen him to get last GW...

    I'm currently thinking of the following for this week for a 4 point hit...

    RVP -> Rooney
    Adam -> Arteta (can't afford Cahill or Silva)

    I know some people don't think losing RVP is the best idea but I'm not too bothered about value at this stage and my team looks good for next week too so can easily reverse the switch if it looks like he will play vs Sunderland. That may appear a waste of a transfer but there are no other pressing transfers that I think I will want next week anyway.

    Thoughts?

            Standard trades - Cahill (or Young) in for Fab and Rooney in for RVP.

            Think I'll just play without a keeper if Gordon is out (was only expecting 2/3 pts from him anyway).

            If Kelly is def out I'll switch him for Walker. Wanted to do that switch anyway really due to fixtures.

    With all these panic buys
    wat team do people expect to have for GW29

    Currently on
    FOSTER (Bergovic)
    Huth, COLEMAN Simpson (Rafael, Kelly)
    Nani barton Fab Brunt (Adam)
    Tevez Berbatov RVP

    So ideally i would do Brunt -> Cahill.

    Therefore Adam would be back for GW30.

        Jarvis and Barton both have okay games, so usually I would favour the attacking players.

        12 point hit is to generally clean up team where 3 are on zeros this week and at least 2 of them will be zeros again next week (Adam and Walcott).

          he had a DGW and still only managed 3 points! he plays regularly but has less points than fringe players because he usually gets 0 or 1 point. useless piece of chicken sh!t

    A few tweets from Martin Kelly (I think it's a genuine account)...

    Hamstring injury 🙁 could be worse though #lfc (14 hours ago)

    @jaysmith90 taking me off was a precaution, it's not a bad injury but rather be fit than badly injured! #ynwa (13 hours ago)

    @DanWhiting1994 injured pal :/ (in response to been asked why he was taken off)

    Not convinced about Cahill at the moment - even if he's recovered to play this week, his form's been iffy.

    So, for this week, I'm thinking:

    Adam -> Meireles
    Fabregas -> Downing or A Young?

    Agree? (Meireles for this week as is it's a good fixture, then switch to Cahill next week if he's looking good).

    ALSO, should I take a four-point hit to do:

    Kelly -> Kolarov?

    (Kelly could be out, and Liverpool's fixtures get tougher after this week).

      Wouldn't get Meireles in for 1 week. You'll have other moves you want to make next week and it will end up costing you points.

      Wait for news on Kelly, but Kolarov is the right option.

      Young over Downing.

    Help!
    Option 1. Lennon to young for 4 point hit
    or
    option 2. Lennon to ohara and kelly to baines for 8 point hit.
    Thoughts? Like many, last week's wildcard has completely backfired

        very tempting to just stick it on nani, im expecting some a tom daley-esque performance from united against chelsea though so there should be plenty of penalties for rooney to sky over the bar...
