As promised, we’re squeezing in a second free-to-enter cup competition before end the season ends… The Fantasy Football Scout Cup IV.

This upcoming gameweek (GW29) will be the qualifying round, with the top scorers (minus point hits) progressing to the first round of 512 in GW30. Entry is now open, and will remain so up until a few days before the GW30 deadline (a reminder with be posted). To be clear, you can submit your entry for the competition after the GW29 deadline, but it will be your score from GW29 that will count for qualifying.

What is the Fantasy Football Scout Cup?

The Fantasy Football Scout Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier Leagueโ€™s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Manager with the highest in the overall standing will progress.

Each gameweek the number of teams will halve, and when the competition reaches the latter stages, Mark and Granville will make live draws on the podcast as we reach our exciting conclusion.

How do I enter?

As with the Members Paddy Power Cup, entry for the competition is simple, just follow this link [ENTRY CLOSED] and fill out the form. A confirmation email will be sent shortly after you’ve submitted your details to acknowledge your entry has been received. Just like the FPL, multiple entries to the Cup are not permitted.

When does it start?

All entries go into the qualifying round, which uses GW29 scores. the deadline to enter will be announced in due course. The first round proper of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup will be Gameweek 30.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published a couple of days before the GW30 deadline.

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each deadline.

Is there a prize?

Fantasy Football Scout is providing the following prizes:

  • Winner – ยฃ150 Amazon Voucher
  • Runner-up – ยฃ75 Amazon Voucher

The Winner will also gain passage to the Fantasy Football Scout Hall of Fame and seal qualification for all free Cup Competitions in forthcoming seasons.

    Alright these are the transfers i am thinking of doing.

    Only 1 free transfer.

    1) RVP to Saha
    2) Kelly to Luiz
    3) Walcott to Downing

    …in order of importance. Where should i stop? at 1? Any other suggestions?

    the #1 guy in our league had a strategy of having top defenders from big 4 teams... entire season he had good defender and goalie.. anybody else uses this strategy .. seems to work pretty well

      This season it has been good as the only main performers up top that are expensive is Tevez, and then Nani and Berbatov who have risen.

    585 entered, top seed is 23rd, 64th seed is 2151, 448th & last automatic qualifying spot is 99703. For anyone over 100K & less than 1 million overall, their only ways to qualify would be to have a very good gameweek & rocket into the top 100K or score one of the top 60 odd scores outside the top 448 minus hits.

      I hate average position maps. I once saw one for a United game where Giggs and Nani were "positioned" right on top of each other in the middle of the park, because they'd spent the game swapping flanks. Idiotic.

      do you need three to make up 11?, that's when it works. Not too fond of Torres, in my past experience, but he is Chelsea which gets him in for DGW33, which is a good thing. You should hold these three strong players until DGW33, which is probably your (good) plan.

      In the States we have a channel on XM satellite radio (150 channels for about $8 a month) devoted to Fantasy Sports- not much European football though. Kind of amazing that our economy supports that kind of "frill" or niche, but it sells.

      I'm considering gambling on Torres. He's gotta come good soon, Chelsea seem on the up and their fixtures are lightening. Only concern is his starting place, but after all the talk of his bad form, my gut instinct is that Ancelotti will stick by him as a show of faith.

      Torres is a total non starter until he starts scoring or assisting for Chelsea. Arteta is a strange one, but he was bloody awful then got sent off when i had him in my team earlier this season so i'm holding that against him. Down to a choice of Baines or Saha for me.

    For all their faults, I'd much rather have Everton than Birmingham players in my team this gameweek. Personally, I reckon there's going to a very serious case of After the Lord Mayors Show at St Andrews this Saturday lunchtime. Come 10pm next Wednesday night, Wembley will very possibly be a distant memory when they find themselves truly in the mire.

    For my money, Baines is an absolute must. With Cahill out of the equation, he's Evertons top points scorer. Don't forget, if he played two for everydody else's one he'd be a 15m defender with 220 points on the board - 56 clear of Nani!
