By virtue of their 1-0 victory over Brian McDermott’s Reading this evening, Man City have provided the first real body blow to the fixture list following on from this weekend’s FA Cup action.

Roberto Mancini’s side now have a date with bitter rivals Manchester United at Wembley on the weekend of gameweek 33 (April 16/17) which means that their current fixture at home to Tottenham on said weekend is set to fall by the wayside for at least a week…

Fellow qualifiers Bolton, Manchester United and Stoke will also suffer the same fate and see their weekend fixture (vs Fulham, Newcastle and Wolves respectively) knocked off the calendar. In their situation there is a very strong case -but we cannot take it as read until official confirmation comes in- for their postponed matches to take place in the same gameweek and alongside the already scheduled midweek games of Chelsea vs Birmingham and Arsenal vs Tottenham, as has happened in previous seasons.

It is that aforementioned North London derby that also means Manchester City clearly cannot rearrange their game with Spurs for the same time. This means that Mancini’s men will now have a blank fixture in gameweek 33 and Redknapp’s double-header has now been pegged back to just a single game at home to Arsenal.

Rough planners can pencil in gameweek 36 (the only free midweek left this season without any European commitments) as a likely time for the fixture to now take place but, again, must be aware this is our educated guess and when we get official word on a date we will share it post haste.

Season Tickers will be updated shortly to represent this change to the schedule.

Thanks Andy. It is always reassuring that someone has a handle on this.

We deserved nothing out of the game today and got nothing. It was a bit embarrassing at times to see us get the ball in defence and then hoof it up the field straight back to City.

Now to try and squeeze into the playoffs!

It's strange, because before he signed he was supposedly one of the best left backs in the world, Mourinho said he was the second best only behind Ashley Cole. But at City he's been pretty poor on the whole. His FPL appeal is still there, but his actual performances have been pretty suspect.

He'll probably be better next season, and if Mancini loses patience with him then he'll probably be fantastic for some other club.

Good explanation! I just thought you were trying to trick people by changing captaincy after the game had started! I looked at your side at about 8:56 and Tait was down as captain. Did you change after hearing Australia were batting first?

Was a little scary seeing Watson bowling so many overs at the end. Was delighted when it came to about the 32nd over and he hadn't bowled at all, but fortunately we he did, he was shit. Dunno why he got so many overs to be honest.

Slightly irritating that Obuya batted for so long, otherwise Clarke would have probably been awarded MOTM.

I'm having a stormer tomorrow btw. Shakib (c) and ten Doeschate, followed by Afridi (c). You getting Boom Boom back in?

it's because i had southee captain for the new zealand game then transferred tait in for southee so for about 5 mins tait was my captain.
very relieved clarke didn't get the century or MOTM. it was a 50-50 between clarke and tait and i went tait.

i may get afridi, i may get gul

Rafael is better than Gibbs imo, Smalling and Djourou is a tight one, a case can be made for both. Djourou's been able to lead at the back for Arsenal, whereas at the moment Smalling still needs someone to guide him and talk to him though. IMO.

Having a bit of a problem, here. I currently have the following injuries in my team: Djourou, Nani, Kelly

Nani looks like a keeper, still - should only really miss one league game, right?

Kelly could be a little worse, and I'm not sure if I should take a hit to ship him out or stick with him.

Finally, Djourou looks like he'll eat my free transfer this week, since he should be out for the rest of the season.

    Team:

    Foster/Begovic
    Smalling, Huth, Coleman, Kelly, Djourou
    Adam, Nolan, Young A, Nasri
    VP, Tevez, Anelka

Anelka was a shot in the dark that didn't pay out. Any advice? Really not sure how to handle all those injuries. Appreciate it, all.

I'd keep Anelka. Drogba was a disgrace against Blackpool, so I'd imagine that Anelka will play in the next couple of games at least.

There's no real need to ship out Djourou and Kelly this week, you can field a good 11 with only one change.

      Begovic
      Smalling Huth Coleman X
      Adam Young Nasri
      RVP Tevez Anelka

With X obviously being the Djourou replacement. As for who the replacement should be... Walker? Bramble? Dawson? Luiz? Depends how much money you have in the bank.

Alternatively, you just play the three at the back, and transfer Nolan to Bale/VDV (if you can afford it), and then get rid of Djourou/Kelly next week.

Amazing feedback, thank you. I'd love to get Luiz in - 6.1 is amazing value for a player of his quality, and I have a feeling he'll be a much hyped-up fantasy prospect next season. I'm 1.0 short of that, though, so I'll have to sit on it until I free up the cash elsewhere. Though he deserved a red against United, so maybe he needs to cool down first.

Hate to double up on Villa players, but I think I'm going to go with Walker. He's been looking sharp, and Villa's fixture list isn't too bad until GW 37.

        Thanks again!

According to the local Manchester rag, Nani has a reasonable chance of playing midweek. Personally, I was always of the opinion that the graze on his leg was totally hyped out of proportion to deflect attention away from the Liverpool result.
