The Premier League’s new South American recruits, Luis Suarez and David Luiz, both scored goals and showcased their great potential – as Chelsea silenced a Tevez-less Manchester City and Liverpool continued their good form under Kenny Dalglish to brush aside Sunderland. Chelsea have rekindled their Premier League title challenge – moving 7 points behind Manchester United with a game in hand – but £50 million Fernando Torres once again failed to impress…

Luis Suarez is now firmly on Fantasy Managers radars having notched his second goal for Liverpool – a superb finish form a seemingly impossible angle. Our Members can analyse the Uruguyan’s performance in full via the OPTA data which clearly highlight’s how influential Suarez has become in such a short spell under Kenny Dalglish. Before any FPL investment it is worth keeping an eye on any injury news, the striker appeared to have suffered a possible pulled a muscle minutes before the end of the game.

Dirk Kuyt continues to profit form Steven Gerrard’s absence by assuming spot-kick duties. The Dutchman struck his eighth goal of the season from the spot after Liverpool were controversially awarded a penalty for a fould on Jay Spearing that was at first adjudged to be have committed outside of the box.

Dan Agger returned to the Liverpool defence at left-back with Danny Wilson relegated to the bench. Dalglish’s defence kept their 5th clean sheet in 8 games and – although they still have to face Man City, Arsenal and Tottenham – Liverpool’s defenders have plenty of potential for the end of season run-in (wba, MCY, ars, BIR, NEW, ful, TOT, avl).

Steve Bruce continues to be cursed by injury problems. The Sunderland boss was forced to watch on as Sulli Muntari, Kieran Richardson and then Danny Welbeck departed the field after picking up knocks. After the game it was also confirmed by Bruce that Phil Bardsely suffered an injury. It is unclear how long the players will be on the sidelines, but for now they join the already lengthy list including Anton Ferdinand, Craig Gordon, David Meyler, Frazier Campbell and Michael Turner. John Mensah must also sit out the next fixture against Manchester City after receiving a red card.

David Luiz claimed his second goal in Chelsea colours – ironic considering the fact the perpetual struggle suffered by fellow new signing Fernando Torres. Aside from his goal, Luiz put in another superb performance both defensively and in terms of his distribution from the back. With form and fixtures in his favour, Luiz is set to climb to the top our Watchlist and enjoy heavy investment prior to gameweek 31.

Luiz’s fellow Brazilian Ramires scored the other goal for Chelsea in their 2-0 victory. It was an extremely skilful solo effort, full of South American flair. Although Ancelotti has admitted that he will rotate the squad over the coming weeks, Ramires has been a  present staple in the Chelsea midfield and offers Fantasy potential. His 6.8 valuation, might turn Managers off investment though.

City were without skipper Carlos Tevez who failed a fitness test on a groin injury. Roberto Mancini started with Edin Dzeko up front who failed to open his Premier League account, and came away with just a yellow card. Tevez’s huge importance to the City cause was shown here as they slumped to defeat, managing just 2 attempts on goal in the process. With the Argentinian touch and go to play prior to the game, he should be fit for their next Premier League outing against Sunderland on April 3.

One positive for City fans, and perhaps Fantasy Managers, was the return of Adam Johnson. The England international has been sidelined since the end of Januray and made his return for the final 10 minutes of the loss at Stamford Bridge. Priced at 5.6 on the FPL game and offering that all important flair that City lacked without Tevez, his potential could rise in the coming weeks.

I would love that! Having said that, if Liverpool got Adam too he wouldn’t be such an attractive proposition. All hypothetical of course! Baines may well keep the hefty price tag next year even if he remains at Goodison – He has gone up in price after all!

If Villa went down then they would have to take less for Young – But then he’d have about 10 clubs bidding for him so I’m not sure if Liverpool would be favourites then.

Good point on Adam. Adam is going somewhere though, he won’t stay. I don’t think Blackpool would sell to Liverpool actually, their chairman didn’t seem best pleased with them in January did he! Wil be very interesting at Anfield over the summer though. I hope we do a swap deal with anyone, for anyone for Joe Cole.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see if Luiz keeps this up. A friend of mine is a Benfica season ticket holder and reckons that the fans there didn't rate him that highly (certainly not compared to Luisão).

And Luiz wasn't a goalscorer at all in Portugal - only 4 goals in 72 matches for Benfica. I've still bought him, mind you.

            You've got it wrong.

It's left open ended, you see the top buckle and then it cuts so you don't get to see whether it stops or not - the point is what pork pie said above - it's supposed to be inconclusive.

They showed it for just long enough.

The point is that it buckles just before it cuts, so any longer and you'd see either it would keep spinning, or it would fall and you would know one way or the other.

Since it cuts just before that, it's inconclusive.

It's multilayered - so some things won't have clicked in the first watch because at the point they happen you don't know their meaning yet, but once you know the outcome and watch it again you see some extra bits - the start with the old chinese man and the spinner springs to mind.

Just done a bit of research for next season (sad I know) but Taarabt doesn’t always take the pens for Rangers – Helguson has done too. I checked that Taarabt was on the pitch at the time Helguson took them - and vice versa – It seems there isn’t a definite taker.

exactly, great header, gaurantee there would be a bit of buzz about him on here if that header had gone in, he could have had an assist for a wild Mereiles miss, and that header, so he wasn't great, but still looks like he should be back to his goal a game form soon, not for me with fixtures either though, but that doesn't stop some people and it didn't stop Carroll from scoring against the top teams earlier in the season.

hrunny, I was at the game mate and he was shocking. Fair enough he had that header, but he kept falling over, misplacing passes and just didn't look a threat. Fair enough he's just came back from injury, I'm just saying I don't think he'll rack up as many points as when he was at Newcastle. Suarez seems to be the main man.

He's only gonna get better, he will get chances and i don't think it'll be long before he's back on top. More importantly earlier in the season he was so easy to have in your team and not have to worry about fixtures etc so i'm gambling with him rather than swapping around other strikers.

Oh, you mean a cumulative total (rather than difference between them)? Though I'm sure both will struggle to truly justify their prices, but it's way too early to call either a flop or waste of money, which seems to be the general reaction. To Torres, in particular.

aye ur right, Samaras got his contract so he can put his feet up. Only player for us was Kayal. You boys played well. yu went for it yesterday and got tactics spot on. think it will go right down to the last day of the season.

I thik his hand was forced with bartleys injury as i think he would have played. but im glad we attacked and played expansive football. why you's offered samaras a new deal Il never know he's a liability.

Cripey, Blacburn have conceded 13 goals in their last 4 away games, was thinking that I might prefer Tevez at home to Sunderland next GW but City at home means little these days in terms of attacking returns and Arsenal and RVP look far more assured of goals at the Emirates (bar the blank last week of course!)

Oh, and the other film I got was Ong Bak 2. Incredible film. Most of the way through, I was thinking "okay, the plot isn't great, it's there to tie the action scenes together, and that's ok".

And then in the last 10 minutes, it all suddenly makes sense.

But the fight sequences are just incredible, best I've ever seen, which was previously Ong Bak.

Yes, Soop. "Review", not make immediate changes. The changes are made immediately before the games begin to, as you state, make sure everyone that one wants on their squad is fit.

However, one can certainly begin transfer strategies now, and see how fitness holds out during the break.

Again, thanks to all for your invaluable advise.

Looking at this for a WC team to set me up for the run in, any thoughts?

    Foster Hennessy
    Luiz Dawson Coleman Kolarov Walker
    Fabregas VDV Nani Adam Walcott
    Carroll Tevez RVP

Adam + Walcott seems a better bet than Nasri + Hitzlsperger, though i'd really prefer Nasri + Adam.
Hennessy doesn't realy appeal but seems to be the best choice to rotate with Foster for the rest of the season.

I refuse to get Rooney so there don't seem to be better options really. He has done well for me all season so i'm confident he'll come good sooner rather than later.

If Torres perks up then i might get him instead at some point.

Because i don't like him - i'd be much happier if he snapped both his legs every time he played so there is a real conflict of interest there.

I'd rather play this game backing the players i like because that makes it more fun for me than cheering on players that i can't stand. Hence the overkill Arsenal representation in my team.

Indeed. Fully aware it's not the best tactic, but it makes the game more fun so might as well play it that way imo. Done well enough up til now doing it.

*I don't *really* hope he snaps his legs either, but i definitely prefered it a couple of months when he was skying penalties and generally looking shit.
