As Premier League managers look to patch up their squads, greedily jumping on any niggles to keep their star assets out of the international firing line, the task for Fantasy Managers never lets up. Every morsel of news must be filtered and hovered up in earnest with today’s snippet round-up offering the latest murmurings on the Tevez injury, a fresh tweet from Cesc Fabregas and Wenger’s mission to sharpen up Jens Lehman…

Carlos Tevez is reportedly “in a race against time†to be fit for Man City’s gameweek 31 fixture with Sunderland at Eastlands. According to the latest reports the Argentine has suffered “a 2mm tear an adductor muscle†– an injury that saw him preserved as City took on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. The report suggests that had Tevez played, he risked injury that would have ruled him out for the rest of the season. The loss of Tevez was of course a major blow as Roberto Mancini’s side slipped to a damaging 2-0 defeat.

Mancini will want his skipper back as soon as possible but will surely have one eye on the FA Cup semi-final with United on April 16. His Fantasy owners will now be concerned that, if Tevez carries a risk going into the Sunderland game, he could be kept out of the action again as Mancini looks to keep him fit for a match that will ultimately decide whether City come away with silverware this season.

James Collins will skipper Wales against England on Saturday. That’s significant news for Fantasy Managers because his return to fitness from a calf problem will now surely bolster Villa’s defence as they look to curb an alarming slide into the relegation mire. Most significantly, it boosts the appeal of budget Fantasy option, Kyle Walker. Walker has been outstanding for Villa since his arrival at the club but has had his defensive potential cut by a string of injuries to team-mates. Walker needs the likes of Collins to return in order to up his returns over what remains a favourable run-in for Gerard Houllier’s side.

Collins was recently fined by the club, along with fellow defensive stalwart Richard Dunne, following drinking sessions on a “club bonding tripâ€. The pair of centre-backs have not played together since last month with Dunne is still recovering from a dislocated shoulder. The Irishman was ruled out for “three-to-four weeks†on March 4 and must therefore also be in with a chance of a return in gameweek 31 when Villa take the trip to Goodison.

Cesc Fabregas has informed the world that he is back in training following his latest hamstring prang. Fabregas spread the news via the medium of twitter yesterday…

“I started running today for the first time so I’m very happy to be back outside.â€

It is now reported that the Arsenal skipper could be back in contention for the gameweek 31 clash with Blackburn at the Emirates, a potentially profitable match-up for the Spaniard in Fantasy terms. Arsene Wenger will not want to take any risks with Fabregas however, and may yet protect him for that match, with a gameweek 33 double fixture with Liverpool and Spurs on the horizon.

If fit, Fabregas will surely be on the mind of Fantasy Managers for that double, although with Chelsea and Frank Lampard also experiencing two fixtures in gameweek 33, funds may well be stretched. The majority of Fantasy squads will surely lineup with Lampard and Robin Van Persie for that gameweek, with one of Andrey Arshavin or Samir Nasri also in the midfield.

Jens Lehman could well be in the Arsenal goal for that gameweek 33 double header. The German is widely tipped to be handed a chance following his much-publicised return to the club and Manuel Almunia’s latest caper in the 2-2 draw with West Brom at the weekend.

Aresene Wenger refused to confirm or deny that Lehman was in his plans for the home clash with Blackburn up next, but confirmed that the German stopper was still someway short of the sharpness levels required…

“He (Lehmann) looks like a guy who’s not been involved for a long time but has kept his body fit. He has the basic physical fitness but he lacks a little bit of decision-making and practice in goal…Would I consider starting him? I’m not going to get into that now, we now have two weeks.â€

They Daily Mail reports that Wenger is desperate for Lehman to see reserve action to help him get up to speed and join Arsenal’s title tilt. However, Wenger’s reserves do not play again until next Tuesday at Wigan; that may not be enough preparation to see Lehman in the frame for the visit of Blackburn.

Wojciech Szczesny is currently sidelined at least until May with the tendon damage suffered in the Nou Camp so, if Almunia’s woes continue, Lehman could certainly see action – he is available for just 4.5 in the Fantasy Premier League game.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

ahhh i meant to speak to you about him after sunday - He was badly out of position for rangers' first goal but made an outstanding reaction save to deny a deflected rangers free kick.

Have a look at the cup final highlights on the bbc site.

Overall i'd say the big mans been doing ok. still dont think hes ready for the prem thogh, good comanding keeper but still too young... one for the future.

Looking ahead abit to the double game week regarding strikers.

I've greedily got Tevez- RVP and Rooney.... and now looking to ship out Rooney and Tevez in gw33, if not before. Apart from RVP can't think of any doublers to replace them with.

I was thinking Suarez and a cheapey like Wellbeck could be good...allows me to get lampard then.

I long for the days when Drog and Torres used to score hattricks. Bent would appeal if his team wasn't so pants and he was on pens.Rooney is good, but Nani seems more consistent. One of Nani or Rooney is going for gw33....too much money on the bench. Prbably get rooney back though due to the lack of decent alternatives.

We seem to pick up injuries in March every year...very odd. Didn't see alot of the WB game but it looked to be a poor performance, disappointing that we didn't bombard them at the end after the equaliser, or did we?

We did but it was too little too late. They looked threatening on the break aswell and got at our back four too often. Our midfield without Song doesn't offer enough protection. No offense to West Brom, but we should never be losing 2-0 to them if we are going after the title.

Wenger seems to be getting his tactics wrong at the moment, how can we go into a game against a team who are a threat from set pieces with, Clichy, Nasri, Wilshere, Ramsey, Denilson, Arshavin? Bendtner ot Chamakh should have started.

Yup he's not better atm but atleast wenger should play him more often just to let clichy know that it's not all him on that side or atleast make some noises in the transfer market just to keep him honest you know. it looks like he is just having free pass at left back.

I don't think Clichy is that sort of lad to be fair. He always gives 110% but he's never had the best sense of positioning.

Why bother "making noise" when he has two quality left backs and another decent one on loan to a good Serie A club (Traore). Left back is probably the least of Wenger's worries in defense apart from Sagna.

Clichy isn't perfect, but Gibbs has been indecisive. I know he has played once since but the last time I specifically saw him make a mistake was when Miquel and him both hesitated to allow Leyton Orient to score in the 5th(?) round I believe.

The whole situation is Wenger paying the pied piper for having a conservative transfer policy. I'm not saying he should have went and bought Sergio Ramos like a few fringe reports suggested, but he certainly shouldn't be relying on reserve players in their teens for cover.

Hardly, RVP has been more consistent (granted in a string of easier fixtures, but he did score against Barca, and a good one too). He's 1.5 cheaper. Arsenal have a double gameweek 33, Man City aren't even playing that GW. Man City are still in the FA cup, less rest, Arsenal have only the league. Tevez, not RVP, is in an fitness race to play. The only thing in Tevez's advantage would be a slightly easier string of upcoming fixtures. And imo, that's it.

    Advice for this week?

    Foster Robinson
    Vidic Coleman Walker R.Johnson Carr
    Nani VDV Young Meireles O'Hara
    Suarez Rooney RVP

was considering Young to Nasri maybe?
also want to get Luiz in, but don't know how I can do it without a hit.

I probably wouldn't get Nasri if I didn't have him.....

If you really want to get Luiz in maybe downgrade Meireles to Adam and then R Johnson to Luiz?

Vidic to Luiz - Utd have the blank in GW33, and we have loads of injuries in defence. Then you could do Meireles to Nasri?

why do you keep fabregas then??? you have rvp who scores free kicks and penalties... fabregas is to expensive for a player who doesn't score penaltys or free kicks

Well, I think Arsenal are gonna win the title if Fab and RVP stay fit for the rest of the season. In this scenario they will also score a lot of goals (50% more than tottenham) and I would want 2 Arsenal forwards in my team. Walcott might be the best price though.. But I'm fixated on Fabregas.

    Injury Update: http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/djourou-out-for-minimum-of-four-weeks

Arsenal defender Johan Djourou has undergone exploratory surgery on his dislocated shoulder, sustained at Old Trafford in the recent FA Cup fixture against Manchester United.

The Club can confirm the positive news that there isn’t a need for reconstructive surgery and he will now begin a period of rehabilitation on the shoulder before returning to training in around a month.

    Foster kingson
Huth bardsley walker Coleman R Johnson
    Silva nasri vdv nani downing
Roo rvp best. (2.4 in bank)

Currently huth nani silva Roo and best all miss out in gw33, I've figured I need some Chelsea coverage, so probably luiz? Was debating whether to fit fab or lamps in, but is 3 arsenal attackers ridiculous?

Also, am hoping torres starts scoring soon, really wanna swap him for Roo but at the mo it's not worth it! Grr

Is it asinine to field a team with Fabs and Lampard in mid?

Could still keep Adam, Nani, Rooney and RVP, just have to toss in one cheap striker(DJ/Odem) and one cheap mid(Albrighton/O'Hara/"The Hammer") and a cheap defense, but I already have that.

Not shootin for the moon here, just trying to be one fella on a monthly basis.

    Thoughts?

    Bego/Gordon
    Johnson/Coleman/Huth/Djo/Rafeal
    Meireles/Lampard/Adam/VDV/Nani
    Bent/Zigic/RVP

I am not going to make a transfer this week, so I can do this (hopeful) beauty.

    Lampard -> Jarvis
Rafeal or Djou -> Luiz or Cashley

Possibly adding in, for a 4 pt hit

    Gordon -> Cech
    or the same Rafeal/Djou -> Luiz/Cashley

So, for the gw32 Wigan (H) match, I'll have Luiz/Cashley/Cech (pick 2) for a 4 point hit, and then the third I'll pick up for gw33. Is this move as clever as I think (it is a ton of differential, I'm down by 8 pts in my mini league), or am I batty for wanting to drop fair form Lampard for the lot of Chelsea D? Keeping in mind for gw33, I feel the Cech move will be what I go with.

    Thanks for any replies.

How so, though? I feel the Chelsea back half is where a lot of the points are going to come from for the rest of the season. Lamps/Drogs/Torres/Anelka/Malouda. Lamps is obviously the popular pick here, but I'll tell you, from having him for a handful of GWs now, he severely limits pickup up in form or kind fixtured players with the 12.8 he ties up.

Probably the most stupid transfer I have seen so far; but might pay off as I can see Lamps being rested quite a lot in PL (Che plays 2 games a week in the next 5 weeks and Banayoun-Mal-Mikel can all play in MF along Essien)
