We now have confirmation of dates for the last two remaining fixtures rescheduled in light of the FA Cup semi-finals. This time the chips didn’t fall exactly where we predicted, but it’s added a nice little twist to the run-in.

Fulham will now play host to Bolton on Wednesday April 27, while the night before we will see Stoke face Wolves at the Britannia…

What this means for Fantasy Managers is a full quarter of our Premier League stable (Man City, Fulham, Bolton, Stoke & Wolves) now face a confirmed gameweek 33 blank fixture, but to make up for that, all will have a double-gameweek to follow shortly after. As already confirmed, City will get their double-header in gameweek 36, while the remaining four clubs will now contest their matches in gameweek 34.

Looking at the fixtures around this new double gameweek, it raises a few question marks on the potential of heavy investment in the teams involved.

With their next three gameweeks looking decidedly nasty [CHE, tot, —], Stoke look a very questionable proposition, with Robert Huth owners set to consider their options. The allure of the double fixture does then lead into a reasonable run of opponents [avl/WLV, bpl, ARS, mcy, WIG], but clean sheets still look hard to come by in that run.

Wolves appear to offer more promise, and their closing season run [FUL/stk, bir, WBA, sun, BLA] could encourage Fantasy investment, particularly in midfield areas where Jamie O’Hara and Matt Jarvis are beginning to earn attention. Right now, they look set to be the likely key targets for gameweek 34.

Fulham may have a nice home tie with Blackpool this week, but everything around their newly appointed double fixture looks tough. Their schedule from gameweek 32 onwards is what nightmares are made of [mun, —, wlv/BOL, sun, LIV, bir, ARS]. Bolton’s double meanwhile, isn’t a hugely attractive one, but with kind opponents to follow ARS/ful, bla, SUN, bpl, MCY] they may yet earn some Fantasy suitors; the problem here is isolating a potential target with Daniel Sturridge perhaps the leading candidate.

Fantasy Managers must now analyse their squads to decipher how exactly they can navigate the tricky no-fixture zone of gameweek 33, whilst still coming out on top in the double gameweek that follows. You can of course look forward to our regular “Scouting the Doubles” articles leading up to all these fixtures to help you assess your options, and this situation is just crying out for the “Masterplan” treatment – expect that very soon.

Season tickers will be updated shortly the represent these new (and quite possibly last of the season) changes to the Fantasy calendar.

One good thing about our sides narrow width today - Gareth Bale is out. We'd be seriously vulnerable if he was playing.

Top 3 is pretty reasonable. Top 2 spot on.

I personally never saw anything wrong with Tiago. Gallas if he had wanted to stay would be there.

Most of these players were quite old when they left, Carlo Eidur Gud, Zola.

      10. He was 37 when we sold him!

      9. I don't need to say anything.

      8. Perhaps. Although I didn't lose sleep about losing our reserve keeper, as much as I liked him. He's too small to be a top class keeper anyway.

      7. The guy clearly has a mental/attitude problem. Decent player though, did a decent job for us whenever he played, in midfield or right back. I even have his name on the back of one of my Chelsea shirts!

      6. AMEN!!!

      5. Hmmmm... I thought everyone has now realised that he's a dreadful defender?! Mind you, Bosingwa is hardly any better.

      4. See 9.

      3. Great player for us, but his record since justifies letting him go. No longer has the pace to be effective at the level Chelsea play at. Good player for Fulham though.

      2. Love him to bits, but he's no longer able to play twice in a week with the intensity of the Premier League. Rotation at centre back is never a good idea, so letting him move on had it's merits. And it now means that we have David Luiz. 😉

      1. Pretty similar to the argument about Carvalho. Brilliant player, and was brilliant for Chelsea, but his injury record gave us a decent enough reason to get rid. I don't agree with it though, I think we definitely should have kept him.

Harry would be great tbh. Just someone who isn't completely stubborn and continually plays a team which clearly doesn't work together. And someone who is a little bit better with people - this captaincy thing has been a complete farce, it's clear Capello is a complete dick imo.

Indeed, the fact that he is definitely moving on soon too gives the whole thing a completely pointless feel about it (not that i'm complainin about that, i'd just rather he went now).

I'd rather see someone laying the foundations for the younger players and start building something meaningful rather than wasting our time with the old guard.

              +1

I was excited about Capello and our record under him until he announced that world cup squad. It's gone downhill from there. The captaincy debacle has virtually pushed me over to supporting Wales today.

Indeed. I remember seeing SWP but no Adam Johnson or Walcott and just giving up hope, and no Dawson. The most annoying thing is that the players that impressed in the few friendlies before the squad deadline didn't get a look in despite playing so well - was clear they never had a chance in hindsight.

There is no doubt that Rooney is one of Englands most talented players, but does the fact that he's not a striker or a wide man hamper us at times. The fact that we can't seem to settle on a formation is largely down to him.

The fact that we can’t seem to settle on a formation is largely down to Capello not doing exactly what he promised to do: Play form players in their club positions. Time and again he's tried to crowbar certain players in unfamiliar positions. Gerrard on the left for example.

No, but then we're busy shifting Gerrard out to the left or playing him as a second striker etc. which is a prime example of why we're so bad.

Always try to shoehorn the best players into a stupid formation that doesn't work instead of just playing the best TEAM.

Yes he's rarely fit, but when he is (despite that being rarely) he is (imo) the best we have.
