While we sit back and wait to see if Robin Van Persie can reward the faith of thousands of Fantasy Premier League armbands, our Members can start picking the statistical bones out of the games so far. The OPTA data for teams and players has been updated and Members can now use the Gameweek filter to view all the data.

My rudimentary glance reveals that, apart form the obvious glittering display from Wayne Rooney (more on that in the Knee Jerk), our Members should take note of the numbers produced by Antonio Valencia, Matt Etherington, Joey Barton, Leon Osman and Leighton Baines – they could be leading contenders for Fantasy Premier League Bonus with strong attacking contributions. Defensively meanwhile, standout showings include David Wheater, Chris Smalling, Kyle Walker, Phil Jagielka and Roger Johnson.

Members can click here to soak in all of today’s statistics.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    From the last article
Dalglish reveals Steven Gerrard, recovered from a groin op, was injured again in training yesterday: "Same area but not the same thing."

Oh and in case anyone missed it Nolan is suspended for the next two games.

Had one of those in a rugby game - above my eye. It doesn't actually hurt - a burst blood vessel makes it look worse (bigger) than it is.

He'll probably get a little nick in it at halftime to relieve some pressure. Can't see him playing on.

Marcelo at the Bernabeu has been epic this season, he effectively plays as a left winger and has been tearing teams apart.

        So yes ...Really.

Vs Sporting Gijon at home he would be doing little or no defending, your out of your element dude.

I'm pretty sure arsenal only saw the ht score at upton park, the way we're playing anyway.

Maybe they want a similarly dramatic come-from-behind, last-minute display ...

There was an article analysing how well Chelsea, Utd and Arsenal respond when playing in the evening game after the other 2 have won or lost.

Arseal were very good when one of the others have lost, and very bad when one of them has won. Can't remember where I saw it, but it was pretty interesting.

Good to see Higuain back fit and ready to come on. Been sorely missed by Madrid

Couldn't aagree more mate, one of my favourite players to watch, Madrid with their tough run in need some serious pepping up.

It should entail seeing Adebayor nowhere near the pitch also..

        Bonus.

It could be argued they would be better with 10 men than with Adebayor.
