Stop! Der Hammer Time(*).

As the dawn of another gameweek is upon it’s up to the Hammers and Manchester United to wake us up from our Internationally enforced slumber and the last minute tinkerers of the Saturday Surgery hand the reins over to the Dugout Discussion.

News from the Boleyn Ground is that the traveling side have decided to rest Edwin Van Der Sar with Thomas Kuszczak coming in while Nani (frustrating? Yes. But seeing as nigh on ‘everyone’ has him not quite so painful across the fantasy-sphere) takes a seat on the pine with Park filling his spot. Fabio also nabs the right-back berth, Vidic returns and Hernandez drops out for Gibson as Fergie favours the 451/433. The home team meanwhile see no need to change their side from that which drew at Spurs last gameweek. Teams in full are…

West Ham XI:Green; Jacobsen, Da Costa, Upson, Bridge; Parker, Hitzlsperger, Noble; O’Neil, Cole, Ba.

United XI: Kuszczak; Fabio, Smalling, Vidic, Evra; Gibson, Carrick, Giggs; Valencia, Rooney, Park.

After we’ve said our ta-ta’s to the aforementioned fixture we’ll head through the six three o’clock fixtures with Redknapp’s team of choice against Wigan of interest with Liverpool and Chelsea also visiting West Brom and Stoke respectively. Arsenal playing host to Blackburn -perhaps the most key fixture of the day- will close out Saturday for us with the evening kick-off.

The Dugout Discussion will be open through all this action up until the final whistle blows.

(*)dues finally paid as promised.

            You're crazy, inventing laws.

            I'll re-post:

            RULE:
            Sending-off offences

A player, substitute or substituted player is sent off if he commits any of the following seven offences:
+ denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player’s goal by an offence punishable by a free kick or a penalty kick

            INTERPRETATION:
Referees should consider the following circumstances when deciding whether
to send off a player for denying a goal or an obvious goalscoring opportunity:
            • the distance between the offence and the goal
            • the likelihood of keeping or gaining control of the ball
            • the direction of the play
            • the location and number of defenders
            • the offence which denies an opponent an obvious goalscoring opportunity
may be an offence that incurs a direct free kick or an indirect free kick

Vidic being sent off is *clearly* not a 100% - if you actually read the laws/interpretation. Could he have been? Sure. Required? Stop it.

And United's pen - agreeably a bit dubious - was made irrelevant by the final scoreline.

ABU's beating this drum gets old.

Great second half performance that. Impressed by both Hernandez and Berbatov. Brought so much more quality than the team had in the first half.

I still think Fergie got it wrong initially though, but that doesn't matter now. Great comeback.

It's true. Liverpool under Rafa are close second 😉

    nicky butt on twitter:
Vidic should have been sent off in the 40th or so for pulling down Demba Ba - Last Man / Clear Goalscoring chance denied.

If Vidic sees red in the first half West Ham grind to victory. Referee had a shocker re: VIDIC & Penalties today. Shocker.
