While Jacko’s shrine was unveiled at the Cottage, the Fulham faithful fell at the feet of Bobby Zamora as he returned from a leg break to fire the home side to a convincing win over Blackpool. Up at Eastlands meanwhile, City broke off the shackles and put a statuesque Sunderland to the sword. Here’s the notes on Sunday’s action…

Bobby Zamora
Brought back into the Fulham lineup by Mark Hughes with devastating effect. A strong finish following a 40-yard run and a glancing header from a Damien Duff delivery were enough to remind us all of the qualities of the former Spurs striker. Having brought him to the attention in Saturday morning’s “Differentials”, Fantasy Managers will surely be marking Zamora for consideration for the season run-in. Sadly, fixtures do not fall kindly for Zamora or Fulham in the short-term. It’s a trip to Old Trafford next, followed by a gameweek 33 blank. Things do improve from then on however, (wol/BOL sun LIV bir) with gameweek 34’s double fixture surely a milestone with Zamora hunters will look to.

The Cottage Fortress
Mark Hughes has transformed Fulham into a resolute outfit. Although Sunday’s result was their first clean sheet in four, Fulham have now kept five clean sheets in their last seven league games at the Cottage. The fixture list won’t translate that form into Fantasy investment but, again, gameweek 34 will surely see renewed interest in Brede Hangeland and his back four colleagues.

Charlie Adam
Ian Holloway’s side failed to score for only the seventh time this season. Worryingly however, that’s two of the last three away games that Charlie Adam and company have drawn a blank. Fortunately for Blackpool, they now face an incredible run of four consecutive home matches from gameweek 32 onwards. That run will surely see huge investment in Charlie Adam, despite returning just a point from Sunday’s game. Incredibly, that was the first time that Adam has returned a total blank since gameweek 14. He has fetched either a goal, assist or Bonus in his last 13 league starts.

City On The Attack
Roberto Mancini opted for a fluid 4-4-2, pairing Mario Balotelli with Carlos Tevez in attack and starting with Adam Johnson and David Silva. Johnson, another player tipped in this week’s “Differentials” duly justified his recall to the starting lineup with the opening goal. That signalled the rout as City simply swept Sunderland aside. City had scored just three goals in their previous four league matches prior to Sunday; Mancini hinted post-match that his side may well now go on the attack as they look to compete for a top four finish.

Carlos Tevez
The Argentine Fantasy favourite returned to scoring ways, albeit unconvincingly, with his first-half penalty after he was brought down by Phil Bardsley. That may restore some faith in Tevez, although almost 150,000 Fantasy Premier League managers had sold him on prior to gameweek 31. With a trip to Anfield followed by a gameweek 33 blank to come, that trend looks likely to continue. A double fixture for City and Tevez is on the horizon, but not until gameweek 36 (eve/TOT).

Aleksandar Kolarov
The Serb remains hopelessly fragile in defensive terms but if Mancini is intent on going on the attack for the remainder of the season, Kolarov looks set to be a key figure. His frequent raids down the left were again in evidence, and also played a role at set-pieces. Kolarov was denied an assist for Patrick Vieira’s goal, somewhat harshly, thanks to the merest deflection on his cross by Joleon Lescott. Some sources, including our own OPTA data, still assigned that assist to Kolarov. It remains to be seen if the Press Association revise their assessment for the FPL – it seems unlikely.

Sunderland’s Form
Steve Bruce’s side are suffering having failed to score in four consecutive league games. At the back meanwhile, confidence will have taken a nosedive having kept a superb clean sheet at the Emirates on their previous away trip. The current form will prove a frustration for Fantasy Managers. In terms of fixtures, Sunderland look ripe for investment. Their run of three home matches in the next four looks tempting and should offer them the platform for recovery (WBA bir WIG FUL). Interest in the likes of Danny Welbeck, Asamoah Gyan and even defensive offerings – Simon Mignolet and Phil Bardsley, will pick up as a result of that run. Yesterday’s showing will surely cause concern however, stalling investment for gameweek 32.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

My second team..... I'm actually enjoying it more than my real team, I don't take point hits and I go for more differentials. Already made my transfer this week, N'Zog > Henderson.

I checked my Sky Sports team, and after not looking at it for a month, I'm still top of my league by over 100 points, and I got manager of the month last month. Happy with that.

I'd be tempted to do something with Tevez or Kolarov or Bentley. Not sure about Drogba yet though, always going to be slightly risky with Torres around.

I was all set to do VDV and Tevez out for Lamps and Wellbeck, but sunderland just look woeful at the moment. the nothing to play for element to their game has meant their edge has gone. I remember this is a familar trait with Bruce teams before...seem to remember Bruce era Wigan just not turning up for the remaining games after they had secured survival.

If I don't go for Wellbeck who else? Young Hoillet looks good. Maybe DJ Campbell?

Definitely not taking a hit this week, been taking way too many lately and last week it cost me big time for more than one reasons. Probably going to do Gyan > Tevez. How does this look?

    Foster
    Coleman, Luiz, Johnson
    Lampard, Nani, Nasri, Adam
    Van Persie, Gyan, Carroll

    Begovic, Barton, Huth, Walker.

I don't like your forward line. To light for my liking. If it was beginning of the season then maybe yes, but now u need at least 2 captaincy option upfront. Gyan yeah he has great fixtures but for what are Sun playing at the moment pls remind me??? He is ok but for third striker, not as a main point gainer for your team.

Hello all. Bit of advice would be appreciated. Team is...

    Foster - Begovic
    Kolarov - Luiz - R Johnson - Walker - Simpson
    Nani - VDV - Nasri - Cahill - Barton
Van Persie - Rooney - Bent

    Want to do:
    R Johnson > Foley
    Cahill > Adam
    VDV > Lampard

Assuming that's pretty much a good idea, when do you think is the best time to do it? This week, to get Lampard vs WIG, or next week, so I don't miss out on VDV vs STK? Thanks for any comments.

Do you need to the RJ transfer in order to afford Lamps? RJ could be a good earner in 33. I'm doing Cahill to Adam this week, if you can get Lamps this week then it makes sense to me to do it now. Is that a 4 or an 8 pointer though?

Unfortunately the RJ transfer is necessary to create the funds. I figured Foster would be enough coverage though. If I did it this week it'd be an 8 pointer, and if I saved the transfer and did it next week it'd be a 4 pointer, but that would miss out on any potential Lampard mauling of Wigan

Bent is one of the last players I'd want to get rid of, with Villa's fixtures and his goalscoring record. Also I'm one of those idiots with a soft spot for Kolarov, I STILL think he'll come good, and could be in line for more returns if City continue attacking

Good morning all from sunny Switzerland, bit of advice would be lovely:

    Team is:

    Foster (Howard)

    Luiz, Baines, Carr, (walker, bardsley)

    Nani, nasri, VDV, A.Young, Barton,

    Rooney, RVP (DJ.C)

I want to get Lamps in for Wigan and then Double, is he essential? And if so, who out of Young and VDV should i put him in for?

    Maybe

    Baines - > Coleman/Sagna,
    Howard - > mignolet
    VDV - > LAMPARD....

    Advice?

Plan looks good in principle; In my opinion Sagna is overpriced, though, and Everton are less than watertight at the back so wouldn't be keen on Coleman either. Tough call; I'd agree on getting Lamps for the double though.
Any insight on my (somewhat similar) dilemma above?

    My GW33 (DGW) team
    Howard
    Luiz, A.Cole, Ridgewell
    Adam, Lampard, Young, Nasri, Nani
    Gyan, RVP

    Subs: Mignolet, Carroll, Walker, Simpson

To do that all I need is to do Szezzers out for Mignolet & Kolarov out for Luiz this week. Then VDV out for Adam and Coleman out for A.Cole.
That’s the final battleplan, desperate times call for a little mentalness.
Now if any of those buggers gets bloody injured or has unexpected price changes/suspensions I will cry bitter tears. That is a beautiful team.

Hey Attila I don't want to repeat myself regarding RVP, Gyan, Carroll forward line. Young to Walcot maybe. And I don't really get all the Young love at this site. If I was bringing Villa mid it would definitely Downing. No question at all.

Young to Walcott? When I already have Nasri and RVP - that's not going to happen. Young came in early doors for me on account of his advanced role and set piece duties - only for appalling luck he would have trounced Downing's points. Still the right Villa midfielder to have, they are playing for survival and have good fixtures.
I like my forward line, apart from I might bring in SEB for Carroll. Thanks for the input though.

SEB is good call. He or Zamora will be my third striker. Fair point with Young. If I reconsider your team looks solid. I mind Howard only, sorry I can't hold myself.

Ha no worries, it was a gamble I thought would be good. Everton are normally a strong outfit in the later stages of the league, they have been poor this year and that's why I'm happy enough to lose Coleman for GW33.
I've been thinking about the O'Hara move, depends what I do about SEB - I wouldn't want more than one Wolves player in my side.

January transfers are always risky (see Torres) but Carroll has proved he can cause problems for any defence - then again that was back when he was at a good team 😛 . To be honest given the choice I'd get Suarez instead, I'll give Carroll a couple of weeks but might swap him for SEB

So, got 100 points still in mini league and might throw down the final WC. What do you make of this,
    Foster/Mignolet
    Walker/Cahill/Dawson/Luiz/Higginbottom
    Walcott/Nani/Lampard/Young/O'Hara
    Rooney/Gyan/RVP

    0.6 in bank.

Leave me options up to week 34, a small amount of cash for upgrades and hopefully any room for injuries with VdV, Nasri, Adam and so on.

Although they've had 2 cleanies in a row, before that they conceded 3 to Blackpool and 3 to Wolves. Inconsistent

Gona stick with him I think, 2 bad weeks gives me more choice in midfield instead. Last thing I want is 15 players none of whom I want to bench.

As said, WC has gone. All but Walcott are in the team. I'm pretty happy, even though my value has dropped again.

In different by Adam. He can come in for any of the midfield should he need to, but O'hara is a nice alternate IMO.

I've hit transfer with the exception of Dempsey>Walcott at the moment. I paid 6.8 for Dempsey, so just want to be sure of taking him out before I go for that.

Hi everyone, could i get some advice please?

    My current team is:

    VDS, Schezny
    Coleman, Hangeland, Carr, Walker, Kelly
    VDV, Nani, Young, Adam, Nasri
    RVP, Tevez, Saha

I have 2 free transfers this week, and i am thinking of doing a -4 for the following:

    OUT: Tevez, Szczesny (injured), Saha(injured)

    IN: Rooney, Mignolet, Gyan

Leaves me with 0.2m in the bank.

    What do you think?

    Thanks!

Please don't laugh, but now that Bramble is out for the season is, er, Anton Ferdinand nailed on to start for Sunderland?

Mensah is the other option from Sunderland's back 4, but I've heard he's got glass legs.

Other suggestions in the 4.5 or less range welcome...

Sticking with Begovic and Foster in nets, need a 4.5 or less defender and Sunderland's fixtures look good.

I'm touching the Sunderland defense now Bramble is out and their lack of confidence. The games look good on paper but a lot of them are in a relegation battle so they'll probably have more desire than them.

I'd go for Smalling but Rio looks like he's back fit (well, as fit as Rio can ever be....) soon. Walker at Villa is relying on attacking points which don't seem to be coming.

I'm 0.1 short of Baird at Fulham (Saha dropping 3 times in 4 days, unbelievable!)

Ok there's three players I want over the next two weeks
    Luiz - Lamps - cheap striker (Campbell/Hoillet/Wellbeck)

I can do two this week. Should I go for Luiz and cheap striker or Lamps and cheap striker.

In a nutshell, who is more essential this week Lamps or Luiz?

I think you are right..but means one of VDV or Young has to go.

whereas Luiz is just a nice and simple Djourou to Luiz move.

Had a dilemma on friday, save transfers or get in players i want for medium/long term run in before price rise/falls. Flipped coin and decided against better judgement to go for it,(had 2 free)
    Djourou/VDV/Osman/Baines/Bent out, Smalling/fab/Adam/Luiz & Gyan in

I want Lampard and Luiz, but have to pay a high price to get them. Is it worth it?

    Nani -> Lampard
    Tevez -> Welbeck

      I was raised up believing
      I was somehow unique
Like a snowflake distinct among snowflakes
Unique in each way you can see

      And now after some thinking
      I'd say I'd rather be
A functioning cog in some great machinery
      Serving something beyond me

          It's Fleet Foxes.

It came to mind when you mentioned "we're the famous Man United", and I was thinking that you weren't. But then I realised that in a way you are. Only in the way that you're the smallest of cogs, providing the money that bought 1,000,000,000% of a Hernandez.

But you've done your bit, and now you get the reward.

Fans around the world of my local team are responsible for revenues of 100 million a year. Keeping us in a competitive position, which attracts players like Hernandez.

            Every little helps.

Hope so, didnt like it really despite having an awesome February after I played it

I want there to be some benefit to having a balanced team. i.e. getting half the points on your bench, and think the captain rule should be first, reserve, then nobody?

What's the deal with Nolan's yellow card count? FPL Stats = 10 EPL Stats (updated today) = 9. Which is correct? Did he have one rescinded or something?

I think you mean 2 games, and it must be right because it's on the NUFC site too:

        http://www.nufc.co.uk/articles/20110404/nobby-rues-ban_2281670_2330635

I'm still curious about the stats though. Any ideas?

Could see him before the end of the season, Pardew has said he is only going to gradually introduce him as they don't want to risk aggravating anything.
De Jong is a right twat basically.

Taarabt is ridiculously talented, though, unlike Dorrans or Jiminez - just a question over his attitude, seems like Neil Warnock has figured out how to motivate him.

U hit the nail on the head, I don't doubt his lack of talent but he's had a few tantrums already this season and he won't get it all his own way next season, so unless he's up for the fight he could look very average.

After my GW1 team im wary of anyone whos not played Prem football before.
