As the fallout from last weekend’s Premier League action continues to rumble on courtesy of Wayne Rooney’s mouth, our Fantasy scores have been set in stone and we can look back at how the 256 Fantasy Managers fared in the second round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IV. The full set of results can be accessed right here, and what follows is a summary of highs (and lows) of the round…

We’ll start with the top-scorer of the week cm1mds, who notched an impressive tally of 79 and soundly beat Loves when carlo reads out team on a friday by 16 points in the process. That was easily the highest aggregate scoring tie of the round, involving the 1st and 15th top-scorers for the round, with the loser having the best score not good enough to progress.

The biggest win of the second round came when Cescy_11 thrashed daiHai 71 – 24, putting an almighty 47 point gulf between them.

As for the lowest-scoring match-ups in the round, the 26 – 26 draw between Afc Chameleon and Fatmag totalled the fewest points in a game, with 10,710th Afc Chameleon progressing at the expense of his 118,460th ranked opponent.

The poorest individual score went to Aggronaut, who amassed an abysmal 13 points giving opponent MartinB an easy passage into the third round despite his score being two points below the rounds average (45).

Other than the one mentioned above there were two other drawn games, with Morpheus and newman edging kiggs85 and Dan_797 respectively, by virtue of their superior overall ranks.

Moving on to the glamour tie of the round and, oh so predictably, it was Gooner dave who ran-out a 44-30 winner against Goose. The slightly more competitive undercard bout to that main event, saw Locarno eliminate Breakballartist 58 – 55.

Any hopes of a dream match-up between Jonty and JauntyJonty were dashed at the weekend, with JauntyJonty succumbing 45 – 34 to mathsgeek. The FFS Cup II champ marches on however, after creaming Milky 55 – 49.

Another potential fairytale coming to an abrupt end was qualifier #512 RonnayBarkay‘s 61 – 47 exit at the hands of jottonolan.

The Scout Contributor’s have been cut in half again, with da Beeeez now the last remaining Scout involved. He made light work of Foolsgold, seeing him off 58 – 39. Big Dunc on the other-hand was comfortably beaten 48 – 35 by Yanky.

Congratulations to the 128 Fantasy Managers advancing, and commiserations to those leaving the competition at this stage. The third round draw for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IV will be announced in the next 48 hours.

I'd be very cautious about getting Chelsea forward in it the moment, although if I was to get one of them in, it would definitely be Drogba.

I'm probably way off the mark, but isn't Drogba's goalscoring record against Utd fairly average? Vidic always seems to deal with him pretty well, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he doesn't play tonight....

...and if he doesn't, then I'd definitely look seriously at getting him in.

Probably. Even if he doesn't start all four league games coming up then he could well be worth it. Annoyingly I'm 0.1 short of Rooney > Drogba, and have already made 3 transfers so don't fancy making too many more.

was always disappointed with woy's pants pulled down please be gentle fergie approach at old trafford. he showed in the europa league his team could be competitive against the top sides but was so negative at old trafford. man utd should obviously win but fulhams defence shouldn't be underestimated imo. they've only actually conceded 1 more goal than man utd this season

The stake gets split into two seperate bets. Half on an outright win, and the other half on the player finishing in the top 5 (I think, it varies) at 1/4 odds (again it varies).

So if Watson wins at 40/1, then £2 total EW returns £40 for the outright win, as well as an extra £10 for him finishing in the top 5.

I just looked at some chalkboards. Elmander doesnt look like a good prospect anymore. That leaves me with Sturridge and KDavies.
Has anyone watched recent Bolton matches to have a say on this? Kevin Davies seems to get many close range chances as compared to Sturridge, on the chalkboards. But KDavies hasnt scored for so long!

fixtures were bad back then so i didnt consider him for the past 4 months anyway. boltons fixtures seem like they'll suit my team well. So is it going to be http://www.flip-coin.com to choose between Sturridge and KD?

Agree with Pav. He's Defoe and Crouch mixed into one, good finisher and great at linking up play, i don't know why he never plays.

he's a bit wayward but i can't think of any striker (apart from chicharito) who wouldn't be wayward if they get the odd game here and there instead of a consistent run in the team.

I think he got this contract in the first place just benefitting from amazing Arshavin work in the Euro 2008 in the first place. Incredibly lucky to make an international career on that, and now he's being found out.

Dawson - three home games on the trot with a double in 36
          Hangeland - Double in 34
Walcott - Blackpool concede loads, double in 33
Jarvis - Home to Everton in 32, double in 34
Bent - In good form, and Villa have some good fixtures

need some cash to bring in lampard for either brunt or barton. thinking of taking out both tevez and kolarov for bent and either elmo or bardsley. not sure which defender to bring in, leaning more toward bardsley. also not sure who to take out for lampard, leaning more towards keeping barton.

Right, I think I've made my mind up on Rooney, regardless of the length of ban tomoro.

    GW32 Rooney OUT Bent IN
    GW33 Coleman OUT ACole IN

That would give me 7 DGWers (Cole, Luiz, Lampard, Foster, Carr, Nasri and RVP).

Can someone in the "keeping Rooney" camp talk me out of it?

The main reason I'm keeping him is that he's an excellent, heavy duty piece of United coverage whose a great prospect in easy and tough games alike. Do with that what you will.

      I don't have Rooney.

However, if I did I wouldn't be getting rid of him just because he'll miss one game.

Once his ban is served you will want him back and you will have to take points hits to do it.

I genuinely think benching him and either playing your 3rd striker or 5th mid is a better way to do it. Its one gw he misses and every Rooney owner will be in the same boat.

On a purely selfish level though, please sell him as I want his price to go down enough for me to be able to afford him for the run in.

Cheers Nomar. I'm not getting rid coz of the one game tho. I would have got rid of Rooney GW35 anyway (for Tevez) and I just fancy RVP and Bent between now and then.
It also allows me to get Cashley back and triple up on Chelsea for thier amazing run.

If you want to replace him with Tevez I'd be tempted to do it now.

I have Bent but he's very hit and miss. This week he did good but he's also likely to go on a run of 2 pointers.

Still, he does open up the funds to enable guys like Lamps to come into your midfield.

Good luck whatever you choose to do, dude (or dudette?)

Hehe. Questioning SAF tactics is never a good idea, although everyone got away with it after the CL final where Barcelona battered them. I remember Ronaldo crying in the press about how bad SAF's tactics was for that game and he was never punished in any way.
