Admittedly, investment in Gerard Houllier’s defence feels more than a little uncomfortable. Villa teeter just 2 points above the relegation zone, having faltered all season, despite a wealth of talent throughout the squad.

Given that talent, relegation is a threat but something that still seems an unlikely outcome. With a healthy run of games on the horizon (NEW whm STK wba WIG), Villa’s players should be considered decent Fantasy Premier League prospects entering the end of season slog – despite what the formbook tells us.

Kyle Walker is one player who particularly stands out from the Villa Park crowd, thanks to his 4.0 price tag in the Fantasy Premier League game and his relentless attacking raids down the right-flank.

Since completing his loan switch from Tottenham during the January transfer window, Walker has put in a shift of notable appearances which have seen him score twice; make no mistake, Walker is an attacking full-back of some quality and in a season where clean sheets have been notoriously hard to pin down, that could yet be a priceless commodity.

At this point it should be noted that Villa have not kept a clean sheet in 8 Premier League games but, given Walker’s attacking potential and the club’s supposedly easy run of games, one would still expect the full-back to deliver. Our members need only turn to their OPTA statistics to view the role that Walker has played since his arrival and how he stacks up against other full-backs in the league, particulary when it comes to successful dribbles and key passes.

Such statistics have seen Walker earn FPL bonus points – he’s fetched 3 in his 6 Premier League appearances for Villa. As a rule, full-backs struggle to attract such attention.

With a limited ownership of 1.4%, Walker has the differential factor in his favour but it’s that price tag that really helps to convince. At a time when Fantasy Managers are looking to secure big price assets in midfield and attack, Walker appears to offer the potential for points at the back for a pittance.

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

    Great article.

    1) Albrighton > Lampard
    2) VDV > Lampard

Option 2 gives more spare cash for next week and VDV isn’t on form and with another 2 weeks transfers could scrape to afford Rooney & Lamps & RVP for the run in.

Who would you prefer this GW..

Let's assume Luiz gets his CS and comes away with 6 points. That would mean Lampard needing 10 points...

    A) Bentley > Lampard for a 4 point hit (Luiz next week)
    B) Djou/Kelly > Luiz for no hit (Lampard next week for a hit)
    C) Luiz + Lampard + Downgrade Rooney this GW = 8 point hit.

Is anyone else actually just facing up to life without Lampard for the rest of the season? With a lot of injuries/suspensions it's virtually impossible for me to get him in for the DGW without a massive points hit, and after that it doesn't seem worth overhauling my team for the final few weeks. He could do a lot of damage, but at least I have Chelsea's primary attacking threat, David Luiz =D

I have Lampard more for damage limitation, i dont actually think he'll score that well apart from the odd pen but i dont really need to take risks so i wont!

Have 2 frees this week and don't want to waste one.
    My team is:
    Foster Robinson
    Simpson Walker Johnson Coleman Alcaraz
    Barton VdV Nani Adam Nasri
    Tevez Rooney RvP

Thinking of A.Cole in (Lampard is too expensive and my defence needs upgrading anyway).
Maybe Nani out to free funds (keeping Rooney) - who for? 5.5?

What do people think is the better transfer:

David Luiz in for Martin Kelly

    OR

    Frank Lampard in for Nani

    Thinking Luiz myself

The first one by a mile.

I could see Nani easily outscoring Lampard, Kelly i doubt will outscore Luiz 😉

    A) Walker
    B) Samba
    C) Jones
    D) Dawson
    E) A. N. Other

    Thanks.

can only really shove my face in it once the season is done since he could easily play this week. just dont think he can be relied on like he could before. plenty of 1 pointers to come.

Not yet it's not. I think he will be back to his favoured right flank against Fulham with Valencia rested and Giggs playing the left flank. After this week it might as well be over though.

Shevchenko was considered one of the best strikers in the world when he left Milan for Chelsea...What followed was the funniest decline to a career I've ever seen.

        Shevchenko aka "the victory cigar!"

Which would piss you off more - having him and he gets 2 points, or not having him and he gets 15 points? For me it's the latter, so I'm getting him.

this is what's worrying me. especially for the double when that 15 will likely be doubled as everyone captains him

Plus, if he gets 15 everyone will get him in for the double, and he won't be any sort of differential any more.
