Enthused by last week’s “Fantasy Flutter” haul thanks to the magnificent brace from Scout Pick Daniel Sturridge, it’s time to darken Paddy Power’s door once again, brandishing a freshly earned tenner with an unmistakable air of smugness about us. Who says the bookies always win?

So with Sturridge coming in for us last weekend, we’d be mad not to look for a similar bet and back a couple of strikers. Everton’s Jermaine Beckford and West Ham’s Demba Ba are names that have been hovering around our Scout Pick reckoning all week, so we went to Paddy to fetch some exclusive specials on that front pairing.

We can get odds of 8/1 on Beckford to fire a brace against Blackburn at Goodison this weekend, while Ba is at 9/1 to inflict similar damage to Villa’s defence. We’ll dip into both of those with a quid on each.

Robin Van Persie is of course the other striker in our Scout Picks this week – that was pretty inevitable given his double fixture against Liverpool and Spurs in the gameweek. While the Dutchman is at short odds to score in those games, we went to Paddy for a double gameweek combination. They’ve come back with odds of 9/2 on Van Persie to score anytime against both Liverpool and Spurs. Such is his strike rate this season, we will confidently slap down another two quid on that one.

While we’re showing confidence in that trio strikers, we’ve happily turned out backs on the Fantasy prospects of Fernando Torres, despite the double fixture for Chelsea within the gameweek. What chance of El Nino drawing a blank against both West Brom and Birmingham we asked? Paddy came back with 5/4 on another couple of blanks for Chelsea’s £50 million man – that might be worth a couple of quid for giggles, but we’ve got other targets in mind for our remaining funds.

We switch our sights to the Scout Picks midfield and, while we’ve backed Van Persie to score in both the gameweek 33 fixtures, what price Cesc Fabregas to do the same? Paddy have handed us 12/1 on the Gunners skipper to notch in those games – we’ll have another tentative punt on that.

Charlie Adam is alongside the Arsenal man in our Scout Picks midfield and will surely be a key threat to Wigan in a must win encounter for both sides at Bloomfield Road. Paddy are offering 5/1 on Adam to notch from the spot in that game, with 5/2 on a goal from open play. We will take those odds on a penalty kick given what’s at stake against the Latics.

Our final midfield flutter lands at the feet of Birmingham’s double gameweek prospect Craig Gardner. Joint top scorer with Nikola Zigic on 8 goals this term and likely to be lining up spot-kicks, Gardner looks a very decent option. Paddy have come up with 10/3 on an anytime goal against Sunderland – we’ll slap our biggest stake on this one – £3 goes the way of Gardner to score this weekend in our “Flutter of the Week.”

As always, our final bet goes on our Clean Sheet Accumulator. With just a solitary pound remaining, it goes on shutouts for Everton (vs Blackburn), Birmingham (vs Sunderland) and Chelsea (vs West Brom) this weekend. If you want to back your Chelsea defensive acquisition individually, Paddy are also offering 11/4 on Carlo Ancelotti’s side to claim two clean sheets over the gameweek.

That’s our tenner spent once again then – thrown in Paddy’s direction with a certain swagger after last week’s victory. Fetch profit again this week and we even might let Granville “go large” with his drive thru. Good luck to all our fellow flutterers for the weekend.

A reminder that Paddy Power are still offering £20 of bets for free for those who sign-up and bet a tenner. Click here to get involved.

This offer is only available to those aged 18 and over and is subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I'd say VDV. Sunderland aren't on form at all and VDV has a better chance of points through set pieces. Personally I'm expecting more goals from Arsenal, Spus...

      Hope that helps

Hey guys, I have two free transfers

    Here's my team atm:

    Foster van der sar
    Evra Djourou Johnson Coleman Carr
    Adam Nani Albrighton Barton VDV
    RVP Carroll Tevez

    Here's what I'm thinking:

    a) Carr > Luiz
    Tevez > Drogba

    b) Carr > Luiz
    VDV > Lamps
    Tevez > Beckford

Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated (should I get of Albrighton instead / or swap Coleman instead of Carr lol)

I know it means next to nothing BUT looking at VDV's stats, he scored against Everton/Villa/Fulham/Blackburn in the home and away fixtures, and failed to score against West Ham/United in the home and away fixtures, he scored and assisted against Arsenal at the Emirates and picked up 3 BP's, I wonder can he do the same this weekend? Just coincidence? Probably, but it seems if he does well against a team early season, he does well in the corresponding fixture.

It's quite possibly the most critical transfer decision I make as I want Adam in and VDV has been the one I've looked at to replace him with.

I either ship him out for Adam for a free and hope VDV does nothing as rival in 2nd has him or put Adam in for Barton and then ship out Coleman.

@Snid, I'd do the first. I mean I can see VDV getting an assist or a goal, but not making it worth taking a 4 point hit by getting rid of Barton instead. You never know Barton could do something against United..

Yeah, which is making this gw so damn hard.

If Zigic was guaranteed to start both games I'd leave my team as it is, but I could end up with only 10 players.

I also cant swap him and Bent for a big hitter plus cheapie striker. I have Adam so not sure I want to double up with him and DJ.

I know what you mean, I'm really split on the zigic - beckford move too. Going to be a last minute decision for me I think.

I'd def leave Bent in there though, like you say there's no one to swap him with if you can't afford Rooney/drogba.

No, not crazy. I would field taht 11 if I had that squad.
It is nicely different in that it is overloaded with DGWers at the back and not the front!

I'm taking a risk and going with Walcott over Nasri! I'm just scared that given Nasri gets more game time each week, he'll eventually crack and score a hat trick or something...

    Lampard-Fabergas-Young-Adam-Nani
    RVP-Zigic (Sturridge)

    what to do?

    A)Zigic out Beckford in
    B)Zigic & Nani out Torres & Ferguson in (-4)

as you can see this is the only week il be playing Ferguson as Sturridge is out, gota feeling Torres is gona get a few over the next 3 games, worth the hit?

i'd say go for him this week as he'll definately get more points than someone who's scored the same amount of goals as me for Chelsea! 😛

    current team:

    Adams Lampard Nasri VDV AYoung

    VPersie Berbatov (DJ)

Berbatov > Drogba (2 mil needed):

A Young OR VDV? > O'Hara (-4, DGW next week) and then play 3-4-3 with DJ coming in?

Just seen you've answered me above too 🙂

I reckon zigic will score 2, so DJ would need to score just to make up the hit. Will he do much more than that to make it worth the risk?

Its worth since both confirm starter compare to injury & nonstarter of Zigic.

I'm not saying it couldn't happen... I mean most experts think it won't..... but it could.

            Your line-up I mean.

Pure speculation. I punted on Drog last week, this week he could come good.
Carlo might play both, I dunno. 433 vs 442 ???
      Pure speculation like I said
