Enthused by last week’s “Fantasy Flutter” haul thanks to the magnificent brace from Scout Pick Daniel Sturridge, it’s time to darken Paddy Power’s door once again, brandishing a freshly earned tenner with an unmistakable air of smugness about us. Who says the bookies always win?

So with Sturridge coming in for us last weekend, we’d be mad not to look for a similar bet and back a couple of strikers. Everton’s Jermaine Beckford and West Ham’s Demba Ba are names that have been hovering around our Scout Pick reckoning all week, so we went to Paddy to fetch some exclusive specials on that front pairing.

We can get odds of 8/1 on Beckford to fire a brace against Blackburn at Goodison this weekend, while Ba is at 9/1 to inflict similar damage to Villa’s defence. We’ll dip into both of those with a quid on each.

Robin Van Persie is of course the other striker in our Scout Picks this week – that was pretty inevitable given his double fixture against Liverpool and Spurs in the gameweek. While the Dutchman is at short odds to score in those games, we went to Paddy for a double gameweek combination. They’ve come back with odds of 9/2 on Van Persie to score anytime against both Liverpool and Spurs. Such is his strike rate this season, we will confidently slap down another two quid on that one.

While we’re showing confidence in that trio strikers, we’ve happily turned out backs on the Fantasy prospects of Fernando Torres, despite the double fixture for Chelsea within the gameweek. What chance of El Nino drawing a blank against both West Brom and Birmingham we asked? Paddy came back with 5/4 on another couple of blanks for Chelsea’s £50 million man – that might be worth a couple of quid for giggles, but we’ve got other targets in mind for our remaining funds.

We switch our sights to the Scout Picks midfield and, while we’ve backed Van Persie to score in both the gameweek 33 fixtures, what price Cesc Fabregas to do the same? Paddy have handed us 12/1 on the Gunners skipper to notch in those games – we’ll have another tentative punt on that.

Charlie Adam is alongside the Arsenal man in our Scout Picks midfield and will surely be a key threat to Wigan in a must win encounter for both sides at Bloomfield Road. Paddy are offering 5/1 on Adam to notch from the spot in that game, with 5/2 on a goal from open play. We will take those odds on a penalty kick given what’s at stake against the Latics.

Our final midfield flutter lands at the feet of Birmingham’s double gameweek prospect Craig Gardner. Joint top scorer with Nikola Zigic on 8 goals this term and likely to be lining up spot-kicks, Gardner looks a very decent option. Paddy have come up with 10/3 on an anytime goal against Sunderland – we’ll slap our biggest stake on this one – £3 goes the way of Gardner to score this weekend in our “Flutter of the Week.”

As always, our final bet goes on our Clean Sheet Accumulator. With just a solitary pound remaining, it goes on shutouts for Everton (vs Blackburn), Birmingham (vs Sunderland) and Chelsea (vs West Brom) this weekend. If you want to back your Chelsea defensive acquisition individually, Paddy are also offering 11/4 on Carlo Ancelotti’s side to claim two clean sheets over the gameweek.

That’s our tenner spent once again then – thrown in Paddy’s direction with a certain swagger after last week’s victory. Fetch profit again this week and we even might let Granville “go large” with his drive thru. Good luck to all our fellow flutterers for the weekend.

A reminder that Paddy Power are still offering £20 of bets for free for those who sign-up and bet a tenner. Click here to get involved.

This offer is only available to those aged 18 and over and is subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    My current team is;

    Foster / Robinson
    Kolarov / Huth / Walker / Coleman / Simpson
    VDV / Nani / Lampard / Dempsey / O'Hara
    RVP / Welbeck / Rooney

    I'm going to switch kolarov to luiz, but to do it I have to free up funds by doing one of;

    Huth -> Carr
    VDV -> Adam

    I'm leaning towards the second one, but then I'm relying on Coleman to play to have 11 players. What would you do?

    Thanks for the help.

    I've got no playing subs and coleman in starting XI. I'm thinking it might be better to stick with him and risk getting 0 or 1 if he doesn't start, rather than go -4 points to get R.Johnson or Djourou both of whom will do well to get much more than 4 points this week.
    What do you reckon? I get the impression coleman in still a decent chance to play anyway.

        Probably RVP. Way I'm looking at it is RJ will get f all vs chelsea so it would be a 4 point hit in the hope of a cs v sunderland. If I knew coleman was definitely out then I'd do it for sure but if he plays he'll probably outscore RJ

          i am in the same boat. armband is on RVP over frank on the basis of form. lamps is prob a bit low these days. RVP is on the up. WBA also improving - but should take a whopping from chelsea.

          going with an chelsea coverage at the back aside from Luis whom everyone seems to have.

          question. is this the right time to offload Nani? i need to ship either nani or VDV to get Lampard. thinking may be time to drop nani and VDV has a home fixture, and double on the horizon, but his form is terrible. decisions

            Nah mate got lamps last week, barton and nani -> adam and malouda this week. Nani could burn me but he will be benched more and this week seems likely, VDV's not playing that well but his role in the team and style of play should bring in the points. His set-piece delivery is superb, on pens, not afraid to be selfish and go for goal a lot and should play off the striker. If he does nothing vs wba next week then I might re-assess

    Guys got a bit of a dilemma. Trying to work out whether to do:

    a.) Luiz IN Baines OUT

    b.) Djourou IN Jose Enrique OUT

    c.) Save the transfer

    Team linked

    Cheers

      Baines will score big this week. Keep him. Only bring in Djourou if your going to start him, otherwise just save the transfer.

    Hey guys last minute tinkering needed....

    1) Bring in Nzogbia or Walcott?? Walcott would probably be temporary whereas Zog woud stay for the rest of the season

    2) Play nani or Welbeck???

    Cheers !

    Mignolet
    Johnson R, Vidic, Luiz, Coleman
    Nani, VDV, Adam, Downing
    RVP (C), Odem

    I'm actually fairly happy with that. Spent about two hours trying to decide on transfers and the current seems pretty good actually.
    Was thinking either

    A- Mignolet - Szczesny | VDV - Modric | Tevez - Drogba (8 point hit)
    B- Mignolet - Szczesny | VDV - Lampard | Tevez - Sturridge (8 point hit)

    Halp?

      Need to play 1 of Coleman, Zigic, Welbeck

      currently have Coleman starting but I'm worried he might not start and come on for a few minutes? so do ppl think if he's fit? he'll play from the start or not play at all?

      cheers.

        No idea - im in the same boat. Really unsure with the news on him - reckon he'll be left out.

          Hmmm might just start him and hope for the best, I don't really fancy my other options as I'll have Welbeck up against my 2 brum defenders and Zigic is useless.

        Yeah I think he'll start if he's fit. He's well rested and they have too many injuries, I can't see Gueye being preferred to coleman when fit.
