In the final match of gameweek 34, Bolton took their dreadful form on the road to Craven Cottage, a ground that’s virtually a fortress under Mark Hughes. There was only ever going to be one winner here, and so it proved; a Clint Dempsey brace eased any lingering relegation doubts for Fulham as they ran out emphatic winners, while the American’s Fantasy owners enjoyed an evening that transformed a decent gameweek into a great one. Here’s the lowdown on last night’s events…

Clint Dempsey
Dempsey’s double took his goals tally to 12 this season, and was duly awarded 3 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Bonus Points for his display. Given that Fulham’s three forwards have managed nine between them, Dempsey’s importance to this side cannot be downplayed. Surprisingly, this was the first time he had found the net at home since gameweek 22, back in January, and the 16 point haul means he’s now the fourth-highest scoring FPL midfielder. Top of our Captain Poll going into the gameweek, those who handed Dempsey the FPL armband were delivered rich rewards for their foresight.

Dempsey, who will travel to face the obliging Sunderland defence at the weekend, was understandably delighted with his showing…

“I was fired up to get goals because I haven’t scored in three games..I was starting to get the itch a little and feel the pressure to perform, so it was good that I was able to do that tonight and help be a part of the team’s success in getting the three points to get us into the top half of the table.”

Fulham Prevail Despite Injuries
With Damian Duff missing the double gameweek completely due to an Achilles problem and Bobby Zamora still feeling his way back to fitness, Fulham could have been expected to struggle for goals last night but Craven Cottage seems to add an extra edge to their play; it’s six wins and one draw from seven, with six clean sheets thrown in for good measure. Mark Hughes can surely relax now; with 42 points Fulham should be safe, though with (sun, LIV, bir, ARS) left to come, the home record will be put under further scrutiny.

Bolton’s Away Day Blues Continue
Daniel Sturridge failed to recover from an ankle knock sustained in the weekend win over Arsenal, forcing Owen Coyle to start Kevin Davies and Johan Elmander together up front for the first time since gameweek 25. Bolton arrived in good spirit after beating Arsenal to banish those FA Cup Semi Final blues, but gave a toothless performance here. Sturridge’s loss didn’t help, though it’s worth noting that he had failed to score in his last two away games.

Bolton have one point from their last nine games on the road and though with their next three fixtures all definitely winnable, Coyle will be calling on his troops for another morale-boosting performance after another forgettable display away from the Reebok.

Trotters Limping Towards Ewood Clash
In addition to the ankle injury carried by Sturridge, Bolton also lost Mark Davies prior to the game with his own ankle problems. Gretar Steinsson then turned his knee during last night’s match and was forced off on 67 minutes. He will go into the weekend clash at Blackburn as a doubt along with Sturridge and Davies.

Well the last two dgws have royally screwed me over. Firstly no drogs and then brought in ethrington and zamora. Fair to say I'm prob not the only one who had a mare on that front. Now I'm even considering such ridiculousness as captaining balotelli this weekend!

Want to get rid of zamora/gyan or both. Who should i make a move for? My first choice city player was y toure but that is not gonna happen unless i swap him with dempsey. So i am possibly looking at dzeko. Any better choice according to you guys?

    yaya or silva.

    127 points v 123 points

    6.0 Form v 5.7 Form

    6 assists v 7 assists

    5 goals v 4 goals

Hardest decision all season for a transfer in.

My advice? flip a coin for it. nothing between them.

    Foster (Bergovic)
    Johnson, Kolorov, Luiz (Huth, Djorou)
Dempsey, VDV, Adam, Silva (c), Lamps
    Rooney, RVP (Zamora)

I was going to swap dempsey for Y Toure and Zamora for Odemw .. but am now sitting on the fence .. I have £0.4m cash and have one free transfer. I am also top of both my mini leagues (one by 15 points and one by 80).

    Options
    1. Y Toure for Dempsey and Odem for Zamora (4 point hit)
    2. Y Toure for Dempsey
    3. Other? eg kury for lamps etc

Still can’t decide on my backline for this week.
        Mignolet/Foster

        Luiz, Baines, Huth, Bardsley, Walker.

I was thinking of playing Mignolet with Luiz, Baines and Huth although Wolves are that bad I could see Bham keeping clean sheet in which case I would Bring in Foster and swap Huth for Bardsley.

Took a 4 point hit to field:

        Kuyt Adam Lampard Yaya
        DJ RVP SEB

        Begovic Walters Walker Terry

I'm guessing no more transfers required? But am I benching correctly? SEB will only be there if he is a guaranteed start, otherwise Walters will start.

cheers man, don't wanna take yet another 8 point hit, although it's been working very nicely for me recently, so I'll start Terry over Hangeland. Torn between Yaya/Kuyt/Lampard for captain though 😕

well kuyt and lampard are both good options. dont captain yaya tho

i would go with suarez over lamps because ancelotti has said hes starting 2 up top

Its been a bit of a week of if onlys really this one, if only i’d have captained Dempsey over Ethrington and gone with the Kenwyne Jones hunch..

The dream team looks really peculiar this week made up of nearly all Stoke and Fulham!

Anyhow not sure what to do this week with my adopted team which is here:

        http://fantasy.premierleague.c.....id=1602197

I need to lose Gyan and Ethrington really, thinking maybe Silva and Carrol or similar combinations?

Team linked - could use some advice!

About 90 points behind in mini-league that has a big cash prize, so I'm happy to take a bunch of hits a) because it's the only chance I have, and b) because I've already lost so I might as well have some fun!

        Any suggestions?

Without knowing your leaders team, we can't help you. 😕
You have a 1000-1 chance if your leader is half decent.

that or wait for the scout picks and copy them if you're willing to take huge hits, may as well be a dream team most of the time

Dempsey coming good and Fulham cleenie a bit of a wretch. However, all those with these dgw players are now lumbered with them. Swings and roundabouts.

Neither make much appeal tbh. Only 1 Citeh needed with relatively unattractive dgw fix. Yaya has better Optas than Silva.

Ok the wrench is then Dempsey -> Yaya. The player wasnt important it was more to counter your argument that people arn't now stuck with Dempsey when clearly getting him out your team deosnt involve points hits.

Chasing 41 Point lead, with 4 games remaining, (a bit like West Ham),

Just Made 3 changes for a 4 point hit,

Bardsley, Nani, Nasri --->>> Kolarov, Kuyt, Silva

Will then do Lampard to VDV next week...

        Thoughts??

ALso who to captain this week:

        Foster,
        Kolarov, Luiz, Baines (Carr, Walker)
        Lampard, Kuyt, Silva, Adam, Young,
        Van Persie, Bent (DJC)

Thinking maybe Kuyt, (Last 6 games hes done 20,12,2,8,10,11 !!!)

Hmm arteta is possibly back so Baines is less attractive but he's always dangerous,

Was weighing up A.Young or Carr (Home to Wolves)

What you think of Silva? Yaya is more guaranteed to start but SIlva is more dangerous, and i think* Mancini knows he needs his width....? (*Hope)

I can't make my mind up.
Yaya, Silva and Lescott or Yaya, Kuyt and Kolorov?
Kolorov is worrying me with his starting place and I'm unsure Yaya is enough Man City coverage although would like Kuyt in.
        Thoughts?

im with u mate, i dont have enough for silva but i dont have much faith in yaya, however hes been good at home in the last few weeks, and in 3 games 2 are at home.

how bout johnson instead of yaya? thats my doubt

i also want kuyt. but i feel suarez is due for a big one??

Tough call. I might get Kuyt in now and make him my captain straightaway. That should make up for Silva's DGW, hopefully.

Given the latest Carroll news it's more likely that he'll sit out, which would mean Kuyt will be upfront.

        How about this plan:
        Nani,Young>Kuyt(c),Toure
        next week: Adam,Luiz>VdV(c),Dawson

I know it would be two hits and Toure prob won't outscore Young this week. But as we have seen yesterday, you have to get DGW in and I'd rather have Toure for the WHM as well than taking an 8 pointer next week.

        Suggestions?
