The Dugout Discussion opens up bright and early on this Bank Holiday Sunday as we look forward to a bumper feast of footballing action.

Birmingham play host to Wolves and Liverpool welcome Newcastle to Anfield first as the mid-day kick-offs see all those skippering Dirk Kuyt and Luis Suarez (yours truly included) hoping for a good start. Then it’s Arsenal’s turn to host Manchester United as Alex Ferguson looks to either get one hand firmly on the Premier League trophy or open up a crunch game with Chelsea next week. Finally, Manchester City play host to bottom of the table West Ham as all those backing David Silva with their captaincy are made to wait.

Full line-ups sourced from the official website on our two early kick-offs follow…

Birmingham XI: Foster; Carr, Johnson, Jiranek, Ridgewell; Larsson, Ferguson, Bowyer, Gardner; Phillips, Jerome

Wolves XI: Hennessey; Mancienne, Stearman, Craddock, Elokobi; Foley, O’Hara, Henry, Jarvis; Fletcher, Ward.

Two changes for the home side see Barry Ferguson and Kevin Phillips bring their many years of experience back to the starting XI in place of Keith Fahey and Aleksander Hleb. A fit again George Elokobi comes straight back in to the side, while Kevin Foley also starts as Wolves also make two changes.

Liverpool XI: Reina; Flanagan, Carragher, Skrtel, Johnson; Lucas, Spearing, Maxi, Meireles; Kuyt, Suarez

Newcastle XI: Krul; Simpson, Williamson, Coloccini, Jose Enrique; Barton, Tiote, Nolan, Gutierrez; Ameobi, Lovenkrands

Andy Carroll has to make do with a place on the bench versus his old side, so hat-trick hero Maxi Rodriguez retains his place while Dirk Kuyt stays up front. Glen Johnson also returns from injury. Newcastle are unchanged.

Three games on the trot, televised, with little room for a break inbetween. Time to settle in, head into the Dugout Discussion if it takes your fancy, and look forward to six hours of consecutive Premier League action.

The second birmingham goal was definitely a foster assist, the pass was intended for larson and the defender just touched it.. it's exactly like a deflected cross no difference at all! Give the assist back.

anyone else think vidic's hand ball was actually genius, albeit cheating genius? he knows rvp is going to get to the header and due to it being about 5 yards out likely score so his only options are haul him down and risk a more obvious penalty and red or do what he did as subtly as possible. be honest did anyone see the handball in normal time? a real dog fighter that guy vidic but pretty good at it.

No offense or anything, but even bringing that up should be discouraged. Biggest reason I like EPL is the high standards. US sports is riddled with cheaters and La Liga is an insult to soccer, vidic should be punished. Yea Arsenal did commit a penalty as well but it wasn't an act of "cheating genius"

Fabregas is unlucky not to score more, usually denied by brilliant goal keeping or robbed of an assist by poor finishing. Silva only had himself to blame, reminds me of Hleb.

Man City flew out the traps, West Ham looked woeful first 20 mins but slowly got back into it as City went all defensive. Silva played well and always looked capable of scoring or assisting. Balotelli hit the bar with a delightful chip, bit unlucky really............wst ham started to flag a bit and it was comfortable in the end.

I am not pleased. 30 pts. 19 on bench. 3rd red arrow in row coming up. No goalscorers or BPs.

Ugh. Horrible week. Maybe this will learn me that sometimes you get there faster by doing nothing. 8 pt hits and defenders...just not worth it.
Fretted about defensive coverage, and with an eye to the dgw and good fixtures either side I brought Lescott in for Huth. Looked at Kuyt and/or Odemwingie ,but no, instead went for 8 pt hit broke and got Yaya and Silva .
Totally outscored by my own greed and stupidity. Left 25 pts on the bench (Bego- Jones -Djourou + Huth). Hopefully if I sit tight it will pay off next week.

Let's face it these bonus judges properly play fpl too they probably issue the bonus points to suit the needs how they plan the team for the week. Oh crap everyone is getting in Silva we can't give him a bonus.

Ok so, earlier in the season Hart was given an assist for this:

So maybe Foster should get the assist too, am I right?

We should bombard them with emails referring them to the Hart assist. Then they'll have no choice but to overturn the decision!

but Hart shouldn't have been given that assist, and Foster shouldn't be given this one.

ahhh that assist. that was a shocking award and i'm sure had something to do with hart's flavour of the month status after an explosive start to the season. if diame doesn't divert it figeuroa gets it and tevez doesn't score.

Foster should definitely get an assist if they gave hart an assist for that!! so sick of the inconsistency in this game, please email them along with a link to the video!!
