With just three weeks of the season remaining, the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IV has reached the Quarter-Final stage. From over 1,600 entries we are down to just eight Fantasy Managers, filling four Quarter-Final ties. Along with news of how they came through their Last 16 fixture, here are those ties…

Quarter-Final #1 – redsareback Vs. Joel Farthing

This match-up between redsareback and Joel Farthing sees the third-lowest and lowest ranked Fantasy Managers in our Quarters going head-to-head. The former navigated his way past Kevin84 by a comfortable 58 – 49 scoreline, and the latter beat PowerOranje almost as comfortably (59 – 51).

Quarter-Final #2 – daniel.mf Vs. Biscanators

The favourite going into the last round, daniel.mf, eased past Pez 55 – 51. In doing so he not only set-up a tie with Biscanators, but also inched up the world rankings to 53rd. His aforementioned opponent, narrowly edged out M in the round of 16 55 – 53.

Quarter-Final #3 – Ninja_Fit_Saints Vs. elena_s

Involved in not only the highest-scoring game of the last round but also the closest game, Ninja_Fit_Saints came out victorious on the better end of a 64 – 63 scoreline against Clogger. Those were the top two scores from last week, making Clogger mightily unlucky not to be still in the mix. His opponent in Quarter-Final Three, elana_s, conquered the ‘biggest name’ of the last round in SammyC 51 – 45.

Quarter-Final #4 – hamyai_hamyai Vs. Mr Hat

Missing out on a hat-trick of top-scores this week was hamyai_hamyai, who fell four points short but prevailed 60 – 48 over Pocket Beatnik. He goes into this week the third-highest ranked in the competition (1,440th), and takes in the second highest-ranked in Mr Hat (777th). Mr Hat saw off TTCHRIS in the previous round.

All ties to be played over the upcoming Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 36. At stake is a place in the Semi-Finals, and just one win away from a prize. Those prizes breakdown as follows; 1st Place receives a £150 Amazon voucher, Runner-Up receives a £75 Amazon voucher. Good luck to all Quarter-Finalists.

I think for those chasing a lead this weekend rvp captain is a good choice. Loads will have vdv but with his injury record there’s every chance he could limp out early in the first game. I fancy arse to easily roll over a stoke side who’s only focus on the cup final.
Yes, and before people shoot this down mentioning rvp’s injury record – I acknowledge there’s a chance of this happening too but if you want to catch up ground it’s gamble time. To me thats the safest gamble around this weekend

I need a defender for £4.6m or under. Any suggestions? These were the ones that caught my attention at first glance: Djourou, Spector, P Jones, Simpson, Elmohamady. Anyone else to look at?

(Oh and btw i already have Flanagan and Walker)

    My team is a bit of a mess and i've kinda given up forward planning. No idea what i need in GW37 tbh, will have to have a gander. Just trying to get some names to look at really! Newcastle defender is definitely an option. I have Harper but not sure if he'll play (other keeper is Cech) so could still get someone like Simpson or Coloccini.

Cant decide between Silva (1st choice but worried about him not playing)/Yaya (less points potential IMO) or both...

Are Bolton usually any good about telling us how fit their players are? Like many I'd imagine, I fancy a punt on Sturridge this week against a severely depleted Sunderland side, but obviously won't make the transfer unless he's confirmed 100% fit.

People keep posting their teams asking if subs are correct. However, at this stage of the season the team you play depends if you are trying to defend a lead or chase one down. IMO

Good morning guys,

Im 45 ahead of my rival. He has taken a 4 point hit this week.

Working it out, I reckon he’s done Nani & Malouda > Silva & VDV.

I assume he’l captain VDV, as will I.

I have VDV and Yaya for the double. Im worried about not having Silva, and I could do Lampard > Silva for a hit, to cover any potential gains he might get by having Silva as the differential.

What do you think?

Should I take the hit on lamps > silva?

    You could do if your opponent doesn't have Lamps and you are absolutely sure those are the moves he's done.
    
    Seems ultra-conservative I know, but I'm protecting a similar lead and this might put me at ease slightly!

      Come on....winning the mini league by just copying your rival is hardly winning it is it. This transfer is a waste of money as well as being the boring thing to do. Silva is not going to get 45 points this week. You are save and probably have a few other players that will likely score points that he doesn't have. 45 points at this stage providing you don't have a team of complete twats is more than enough.

        HAHA....funny you say that. What do you think the K is for. Depends on how much money is at stake but I'd still like to think I could win the league by picking my own players. I'm copying my rival this week bringing in VDV but I'll still be 10 points behind him. Just think VDV is the best option for the team (as does everyone else). Hopefully Lampard can do the magic in the coming weeks to push me back to the top.

      he definitely doesn't have lamps, and hasn't brought him in.
      
      90% sure he's brought in Silva and VDV. He either transferred out Nani & Malouda, or Nani % Kuyt, or malouda & Kuyt.
      
      Given Kuyt's form, my guess is he has kept kuyt.
      
      So you think i should do it?

        I think it's probably completely unnecessary, but it depends how worried you are about losing your lead, how badly you want to win etc.
        
        If you want a yes/no answer, I'd say no don't bother, but it certainly isn't the worst idea in the world.

What to do with Nani?
Want to keep him for bla/BLP, but almost sure he'll start CHE on the bench, then come on for last 10/15.
So that suggests i should bench him, meaning that i'd have to play one of Carroll (bench as well) or R.Johnson (going to concede)...neither of which im excited about...
so maybe sell Carroll instead? But who far?

Reading further up that people are copying their rivals teams to protect their leads! Where is the excitement in that?
Me and my rival have 13 points between us and a whole load of differentials! We only have 4 players that are the same (probably 5/6 when we do transfers) but it makes it more interesting.

Quick question. I'm contemplating getting Odemwingie for Carroll. However, my rival also has Odem and we are both level on 1999 points. At this stage of the season, is it a good idea to just throw caution to the wind and go with a differential or should I just try and match him? I'm thinking of Ba as a big differential this week.
