A solitary game tonight for the Dugout Discussion as the last fixture of the [regular] gameweek keeps our cockles occupied this evening. “King” Kenny Dalglish has brought his Liverpool side on a jaunt down to London and seems to have left Andy Carroll in Toddington services – the gargantuan Geordie is nowhere to be seen. Pretty hsppy with this week so far. Got Vidic coming off the bench to make it 53 with a 4 point hit with Silva, Kola, VDV(C) and Modric(?) left.

Currently on a green arrow without Vidic or my DGWers left to play. What's the word on Modric? Hopefully could be top 200 by the end of this DGW.

Was thinking of not taking any more hits but suddenly I don't know.

I reckon Modric -> N'Zogbia but might need to make a second to sort out my defence or may be worth either doubling up on Liverpool or getting in another relegation fighter.

  Vidic made your week, Rooney put an anchor on mine. Such a good performance by both, but scores so far apart in this FF game. Your GW38 is going to be a challenge- as it will for most of us.
  
  Have you noticed that on field "character" seems to have hurt a few bonus darlings of late-- Nani, Adam, Rooney-- maybe a few others. Not complaining, just wonder if that is true and it's not just cold stats?

    I used to go not hits for most of the season, but with the end of season approaching and all the DGWs we've had I've been taking 4pts a week recently. The nearer the end we get, feel like my squad needs constant freshening.
    
    Ye, I chanced out with Vidic, didn't really deserve them having benched him, but it pays back for the time around GW 20 I had Odem with his first big points haul, Vidiv with a CS and bonus away to spurs and a Distin goal on my bench. Bad luck with Rooney though he deserved at least as many as Vidic tbh.
    
    Really don't know how GW38 is going to psn out but extremely glad I hung on to Nani, knew he was a keeper especially since I would be losing over £1million. Reckon I'm sticking to teams with something to play for in now.
    
    Bonus points seem to have gone crazy recently. I mean own goal Meite beat Odem to bonus points last week! But there seems to be a definate trend of 'old favourites' getting less, maybe they want to balance it out.
    
    Great rank by the way, double figures is the stuff of dreams.

  Kuyt is a classic example of a mediocre player on the biggest purple patch ever. I keep thinking his luck will run out but it just keeps going. Some rivals who aren't that into football got him in too just because of his good form.

  LA Noire by a mile. Looks like GOTY material to me, so hyped for it I'm just waiting for my pre-order to fall through the door.
  
  Rockstar are brilliant and this game looks like the prefect mix of story, action, new exciting grounbreaking technology and some really thought provking puzzling to be had. Really think it'll be one of the best experiences on a console ever.

    Now I was thinking of that one, but to be honest I'm not a massive fan of Rockstar, I thought Red Dead Redemption was massively over-rated but I really like the setting (gangsters etc) of LA Noire.
    Bethseda who made two of my favourite games of recent years (Oblivion and Fallout 3) made Brink, looks more of a shooter though so bit different to their usual. Choices choices. 🙂

      See I adored both GTA IV and Red Dead. Reckon this one will pull it out the bag though. Don't forget that the majority of the game has been made by Team Bondi, a seperate developer, so won't be so heavily Rockstar influenced.
      
      I've never really got into either of those games, and Brink doesn't really appeal to me either. I'm fed up of FPSs at the moment. It's got a bit of a Team Fortress feel about it, but I don't think it will be anything more than a bit of fun.
      
      LA Noire should be an oustanding game, I don't know if you played Heavy Rain but I've got a similar sort of feeling about this game and it really could be something totally original but similarly special. The facial detail and the interrogation side of the game looks absolutely new, enthralling and exciting, while I do love a good mystery to solve. Add to that the setting, atmosphere and hopefully very interesting story, much of which is based on real life, it should be something brilliant.
      
      I have no doubt Brink would be a good fun game to play, but LA Noire should be so much more.

        Yeah I really liked Heavy Rain, really new type of game. I'll have a think. Never played the original Portal but a few folk have been raving about this one.
        I'll take a look at LA Noire, if it's just retro themed GTA I won't be mad into it. I do enjoy GTA but I'm not engrossed by them. I like a good shooter, but Black Ops was a real let down, MW2 was far better.

    I was SOOOOOOOOO close to finishing 1st and 2nd. That would have been bragging rights for donkeys. Had to make do with 1st and 3rd.

        Not a noob question. It's a cumulative league, so its the total of all the members points added up against the sum total of all the non members. So there has to be an equal number of both to make it fair. I was entering all the scores on a big spreadsheet to compare the number of gameweeks won by the members or non members, average scores etc.

Unfortunately the guy who essentially killed it is an unknown to me, I don't think he is a regular poster so I didn't have chance to find his team link as I don't know what username he posts under.
        With two weeks left it is an annoyance indeed that someone would pull out with no warning or anything, but feck it. I have the results for 90% of the season so that will have to do.

  I am still in the FPL Open (O Rei Pele). I am confused by the wildcard rule. I have used my wildcard this week and am ranked higher than my opponent. My opponent took a hit.
  
  The rule says: "Teams with a higher seeding will be penalised 4 points max only if their opponent takes a hit. If the opponent doesn't take a hit the H2H starts at 0-0. Whenever a double gameweek occurs, these penalties are increased by 4. "
  
  This seems to say that I will be penalized 4 points for using my wildcard, offsetting the 4 point penalty my opponent got for his hit . Thus, we are starting out even. In the actual FF league, we would start out my 0 to his minus 4. If my 4 point penalty is indeed true, I am being penalized for being a good enough player to hold onto my wildcard.
  
  Also, the second part says if he doesn't take a hit, we start out 0-0 (even). So if the above analysis is true and he knows I have a wildcard left (and will probably play it), why wouldn't he take a hit as it will cost him nothing. We would both have a 4 point penalty. So my wildcard gave him a free hit
  
  Is my analysis true or am I missing something? If true, why should I be penalized in the Open when I'm not penalized in the FF league? And why should he get a free hit when he doesn't in the FF league.

Hmmmmmm. I'm chasing a 5 point lead and want to emphatically kock it out the last 2 weeks.

Concerns are Silva being rested against Stoke if he plays against Spurs as he will undoubetedly play in the FA Cup Final but not the following league game against Stoke. That would be 4 games in 7 days. Not!
