It was a case of déjà vu for Peter Crouch at Eastlands last night as the Spurs forward grabbed the winning goal to clinch a Champions League place for the second year running; unfortunately for Crouch, it was an own goal this time round, as his gaffe helped Roberto Mancini’s side end Tottenham’s slim hopes of a fourth-place finish. The result was a timely boost for Stoke City, too; City’s FA Cup final opponents are now ensured Europa League football next season. Here’s the notes from last night’s game…

Tottenham’s Injury Troubles Continue
It’s been a long season, and the injuries are taking their toll on Spurs right now; straight off the back of Gareth Bale’s season-ending ankle injury, Harry Redknapp suffered further misfortunes. The setbacks started before a ball had been kicked with Heurelho Gomes missing out with a back injury, allowing Carlo Cudicini to claim the keeper’s jersey. The Italian stopper duly put in a strong display, making several crucial saves that will give him every chance of retaining the role for Tottenham’s final two matches.

Elsewhere, Wilson Palacios recovered from a knee injury and came in to central midfield, as Redknapp moved Luka Modric wide left in a 4-4-1-1. The shift only lasted half an hour, though; Palacios limped off, with Modric back in his usual central berth as sub Steven Pienaar took up a flank role. William Gallas received treatment twice during the game but was eventually forced off with three minutes to go after heading a Patrick Viera effort off the line.

Having chased fourth place for so long, Spurs now face an uphill task to claim fifth. They are two points behind Liverpool and face a trip to Anfield this weekend, knowing a defeat would give Kenny Dalglish’s men an unassailable lead in the chase for a Europa League spot. Owners of Tottenham’s Fantasy assets will at least take comfort that Tottenham go into gameweek 37 still motivated to earn a result, despite last night’s defeat. Harry Redknapp gave us no doubt that his side remain focused as the season draws to a close…

“We’ll go to Liverpool and try to win and then try to beat Birmingham. Two wins and we’ll finish above Liverpool. That’s what we need to do.”

Carlos Tevez
Sidelined for the last three gameweeks, the Argentine came off the bench with seven minutes to go and looked his busy self, almost scoring on the final whistle. It’s a major boost for Roberto Mancini ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup Final with Stoke and with City just two points behind Arsenal, Tevez’s return will spearhead their chase for third place as they face up to (STK, bol) in the final two games. Should Tevez start at Wembley however, there will be real doubts as to whether Mancini will field his skipper in next Tuesday’s league clash.

Richards’ Return Causes Fantasy Woes
Micah Richards came back into the City XI, starting at right-back in a reshuffle that saw Pablo Zabaleta move to left-back. This proved a real source of frustration for owners of Aleksander Kolarov, as the Serbian dropped to the bench.

A bloody nose forced Zabeleta off after 57 minutes, with Kolarov emerging for the remainder. Despite City’s clean sheet, neither grabbed sufficient minutes to earn the points, giving them paltry returns over the double gameweek. The full-back rotation has proved costly for Fantasy Owners over the season; with 16 clean sheets, City clearly have defensive potential but while Joe Hart has 162 pts, Kolarov and Zabaleta have 150 between them.

City Rotation
Mancini’s lineup at Wembley will be a key guide for his teamsheet for gameweek 37’s league clash with Stoke three days later. While City remain motivated to claim third spot, it’s hard to imagine that Mancini will resist the temptation to rest players following the weekend showpiece. As mentioned, Tevez looks vulnerable should he be deployed for the bulk of Saturday’s game. Elsewhere we should expect further rotation at full-back, with Kolarov perhaps set to see action on Tuesday night should he be benched in the Final. Despite last night’s frustration then, his owners may still see the merits of holding him for the final two gameweeks.

David Silva and Yaya Toure are set to play their third match in seven days on Saturday – they both look candidates for a rest, with Shaun Wright-Phillips and Patrick Vieira the obvious replacements. Gareth Barry, who missed out again last night, remains a doubt for Saturday’s game – he is set to find out his fate today following a hamstring injury.

Happy to say i am now second in FFS Head to Head Reserve League. Thought i should be first seeing as the guy ahead of me has less points overall.

Also 80 points ahead in my money mini league. Its in the bag unless somethin stupid happens.

Very good rank! Its a funny part of the game. Since i have moved up in that league my rank has got worse overall. I was into top 500 until i had to start concentrating on fending off my mini league rivals.

That reserve league is so frustrating... won loads of games by a big margin and lost too many by a very small margin...

Indeed it is the luck of the draw a lot of the time. I'm by no means the highest ranked team in the league but it's consistency each week that wins the H2H matches I suppose.

I think head to head leagues are daft. FPL is like golf. It's about a cumulative score. If Tiger wins the Masters you wouldn't expect him to have the lowest score on every hole. And don't mention match play golf to ruin my analogy, please.

Anyway, match play golf is one versus one over 18 or 36 holes, so skill still wins out on average.

      A) Play Luiz and hope he starts with the view if he doesn't he won't play at all
      B) Play Bardsley in anticipation that if Luiz doesn't start he might come on for a cameo if chelsea cruising to give him the chance to redeem himself

Good thing about end of season games is that Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool, City (despite cup) still need to keep the pressure on and win games.

    REPOST

Do we reckon Malouda will play at the weekend. The favoured front 3 has been Malouda Drogba Kalou but I reckon Anelka & Torres will get a run so it’s who they replace?! Surely Carlo knows Drogba & Torres don’t work so would suggest Kalou & Drogba miss out. Or does Carlo play his regular side to try and seal 2nd?

Guys i could really do with some help with my team this week, rivals are 7 and 9 points behind. Team is:

    Foster
    Carr Coleman Luiz
    Silva Walcott VDV Adam
    RVP Suarez Drogba

    Subs: Yaya, Walker, Simpson

What should i do this week. Initial plan was to get Nzog for Yaya and bench VDV but now that Luiz looks uncertain i might have to transfer in a defender. What do you guys think.

Guys need a bit of advise on my team:

    Foster (Begovic)
    Hughes Kolorov Luiz (Walker) (Kelly)
    Kuyt Adam Lampard Silva VdV
    RvP Odemwingie (Carroll)

    3.3M in the bank

Was wondering what you guys think would be the best transfer option is, was thinking to get rid of Kelly and then be able to have 5 playing defenders just in case Luiz and Kolorov don't play. If so, who should I bring in for the last two games?

Or should I make a transfer in midfield or forwards?

Obviously I’m gonna look out for Carlo’s press conference, but given Luiz’s performance last week what would you do out of the following?

    A) Play Luiz and hope he starts with the view if he doesn’t he won’t play at all
    B) Play Bardsley in anticipation that if Luiz doesn’t start he might come on for a cameo if chelsea cruising to give him the chance to redeem himself

      Start him imo.

It's very rare that a CB is brought on after not starting the game. Only if there are injuries or the other CB is having a mare (ala Luiz last Sunday)

Yeah that's what I'll probably do as we can't seem to buy a clean sheet at the moment and wolves fighting for there lives. I think there could be goals in that one.

Well yeah that's it. I'm not worried about bardsley coming in for him, it's more the worry he comes one for 20 mins or so. Who knows if chelsea crusing he might even give him a bash in defensive midfield. Surely that has to be a better position for him given his stlye of play?!

I thought of the two best player I could bring in this week.

I came up with Malouda(c) and Fabio.

Morning all, I could really do with some help with my team, I’m struggling to maintain a 20 point lead. With all the rotation threats I’m really not too sure on what transfer(s) to do this week. I was thinking of getting N’Zogbia in but really don’t know who to drop, so I suppose I should finally get rid of Kelly, but the defenders really don’t seem to be providing too many points.

How about Silva or VDV to N’zogbia and then Kelly to Vidic?

    My Team
    Foster, Begovic,
Kelly, R Johnson, Luiz, Huth, Dawson
    Yaya, Silva, Adam, VDV, O’Hara,
    Rooney, Drogba, RVP

    His Team
    Foster, Jaaskelainen,
    Bardsley, Dawson, Luiz, Kolorov, Coleman
    Nani, Yaya, Adam, Dempsey, Ferguson,
    Odemwingie, Drogba, RVP

    Need some advice!
I'm playing the facebook version; currently ranked 14th out of 620431 in the overall rankings and trying to reach the top 10.

    Current gw team:

    Foster (Cech)
Luiz, Lescott, Kolarov (R. Johnson, Huth)
Nani, VDV(c), C. Adam, Kuyt (Dempsey)
    RVP, Bent, Odemwingie

I'm thinking of switching it to:

    Cech (Foster)
Luiz, Lescott, Huth (Kolarov, R. Johnson)
Nani, C. Adam, Kuyt, Dempsey (VDV)
    RVP, Bent, Odemwingie

    and transferring
    Huth -> Vidic (A. Cole/Baines?)
    Bent -> Berbatov (Drogba/Tevez?)

    Reflections:
    - Not having Lamps or Malouda might be an issue, but I think I've got a solid midfield for this week.
    - Berbatov should deff. see the nod with the Barca game coming up. Even thinking of captaining him (genius differential?)
    - Not feeling sure about Drogba since Torres will probably get extra playtime to get his form back since the title is 99% gone. Tevez seems risky as well considering the cup + injury woes
    - I'd like to get Vidic in, but I'm not sure if he's a rotation risk with the Barca game coming up.
    - I don't mind having Luiz fielded since I still have Kolarov as first sub.
    - Also, we still get the regular old 2 transfers/week and money is not an issue for me anymore.

Can't personally see Berbatov starting at Blackburn. United have no reason to play anything other than their first choice team, as they still need to wrap the title up. Plus, the likes of Rooney won't (at least not IMO) play against Blackpool, so if they also don't play in the Blackburn game, they'll have gone three weeks without a competitive match before the CL final - hardly ideal.

Not sure what the prices are on the facebook game, but I'd say that Suarez is a much better alternative to Berbatov for this week.

I'd also rather Ashley Cole than Vidic for this week, although (like Rooney) I'd expect Vidic to start this week.

Cashley seems like always scoring a goal in one of the final 2 fixtures in the season. I expect for him to score again. If u have the cash go for it. I don't now why but he scores this time of the year.

Regardless of chasing/defending in min leagues, if everyone around you has RVP, do you this GW

    A. Captain him, so you at least gain double points.

    B. Accept you're not going to make any gains having RVP, so captain someone else, e.g Adam, Lampard

Nothing is certain of course but both Silva and Toure do look vulnerable. As before however, Silva is possibly the most likely to be rotated out.

I think I am gonna sell Silva too, cause even if he plays he is clearly not a fantasy potential. Even if he has open goal he will pass. And with Barry out Yaya has more chance of playing. De Jong could be rested?

Who do people think the first midfielder to be transferred out should be...

    Kuyt
    A.Young
    Silva
    Modric

I'm thinking A.Young due to Arsenal fixture, or Modric as he is away to Tottenham and had a mild hip injury so may be rested (maybe)

Hey guys, well that was a very wasteful display from Spurs last night, admittedly Citeh's defence was solid, but still feel like they were gifted the win. Nevermind, anyway RMT please guys:

    Foster
    Luiz Kolarov Baines
    Lampard Kuyt Adam Sessegnon Yaya
    RVP Hernandez

If Luiz and/or Kolarov don't play, Hangeland and Walker will come on.
If Yaya/Hernandez don't DJ will come on.

What do you guys think? I like it personally, more than this past week anyway!

Silva risky? I think he will play. Maybe not 90 min but so what? He is not good fantasy option IMO. Imagine if Stoke win against City or there are (will be) some tough challenges. All the City plays would love to play in order to revenge. Only if there are overtimes than we will see rotation.
