While both halves of Manchester spark open the champagne this evening and revel in their respective clubs’ new silverware, those teams ensconced in the battle at the foot of the table can only grin and bear it as the tension was racked up another notch today.

When a team’s Premier League existence is on the line, this time of the season produces some extraordinarily gutsy performances from those threatened with the drop and there‘s always one or two Fantasy Bargains to be had near the bottom. This afternoon, Wolves and Blackpool grabbed the goals and three vital Premier League points apiece, meaning both clubs enter Gameweek 38 with their survival still intact.

Blackpool scaled the heights of their gameweek 1 performance, scoring four for the first time since that opening day of the season in an incredible 4-3 victory over Bolton. The Seasiders’ last home game of this campaign saw DJ Campbell grab 13 FPL Points and Charlie Adam (picking up his first Bonus Points in seven games) returning 12, with an away trip to Old Trafford left of their season. If Ian Holloway’s side are ultimately relegated, they at least have given the home supporters a parting gift to remember.

Wolves chose today to record their first back-to-back league wins of the season with a 3-1 win at Sunderland; Steven Fletcher scored for the fifth time in five games, whilst midfielders Jamie O’Hara, Matt Jarvis and Stephen Hunt all picked up an assist each to reward Fantasy Owners ahead of their home game with Blackburn next week.

The onus now switches to Birmingham, Wigan and West Ham tomorrow. Will it be Sebastian Larsson or Cameron Jerome, Charles N’Zogbia or Hugo Rodallega, or maybe one of either Thomas Hitzlsperger and Demba Ba who will have their day in the sun?

There’s many permutations to consider, but of all those teams involved in the scrap, it’s West Ham who are on the brink; they now need to win both remaining games and hope Birmingham lose their last two to stand any chance of survival. Even if Big Eck’s side are defeated, anything other than a Hammers win at Wigan tomorrow and they’ll be playing Championship football next season.

Regardless of tomorrow’s results, there’s going to be plenty uncertainty surrounding the relegation places and a chance for big performances all over again in Gameweek 38. Great for Fantasy potential, terrible on the nerves of the real-life fan. Bring on next Sunday.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Great Escape in Brighton. It's a new music festival so you've probably not heard of many of the bands. Many of the bands go on to be big and it's an opportunity to see bands in small venues before they hit the big time.

The shit you do when you're chasing your smug mate after leading the fkn mini league all year until gw 30:

sell nzogbia before his big points after benching him every time he scores
sell vdv before his big points then buy him back for crap points
sell adam to buy back vdv just in time to watch adam pull his finger out

    bitter

To maintain my 21 point lead my main requirement today is the following:

I'm 21 points clear but quite scared of my rival's team this week.

      Differentials are:

Me: szczesny, glen Johnson, huth, silva, van persie

Rival: foster, kolarov, lampard (c), suarez

I think I have very good reason to be afraid!

Regarding all the Rbj jamsiep thing.

I think those 2 hate each other, which they're entitled to do... but they're both doing their best to exaggerate how much of a *expletive* the other is.

Unfortunately Rbj didn't do himself any favours and has come off looking like a complete idiot. (which I really don't think he is) jamsiep is just a lot more calculated in his reactions, while Rbj doesn't so much wear his heart on his sleeve as spray his heart all over his keyboard.

I actually think jamsiep and Rbj are both decent posters most of the time, but Rbj is definitely a bit controversial and can dig holes for himself, plus he has a short fuse and people often try to light it. Hope he comes back anyway.

So next week who will be left in the relegation fight.
My guess. Wigan relegates West Ham and Birmingham escapes relegation tomorrow.
    Leaving
    Wolves vs. Blackburn
    Manchester United vs. Blackpool
    and
    Stoke City vs. Wigan
    as the relegation games.
    If Birmingham loses, add
Tottenham vs. Birmingham as the fourth relegation game.
If Wigan loses, add Wigan to West Ham as all but relegated.

i just hope blackpool can rise above the fear which will be brought more by the name Manchester united than the team itself. I don't think many would say they don't deserve to stay up this season, if only for the refreshing way they've attempted to do so on such a threadbare budget and squad.

I think it will come down to three games in GW38 determining the 2 to join West Ham when the dust settles this GW. So the answer is quite possibly yes.

Maybe but I think their goal difference will save them.

40 points is a possible finish for a few teams all with worse goal diff.

      40 point lead in mini
      Me: Lampard A.Young R.Johnson Lescott Y.Toure
Him: Van Persie Bent Carr Kolarov Silva
      77 point lead on 3rd
      Me: Lampard(c) A.Young Foster N'Zogbia Lescott

I think not having rvp is your worst mistake. Or do you have him just the first rival captained him?

But anyway 40 points should be safe!

We both have RVP and Lampard. I captained Lampard; he RVP. The biggest question, for these last 2 GWs, is which players are already in a mid-summer frame of mind.

Yeah true. at the top, Chelsea more likely than anyone to be in that frame of mind I think, since arsenal and city want third place to avoid early season 2 legged playoff, and even united reserves will play for a place in the champs league team or squad.

But then again, chelsea often win when they relax.

yeah but Liverpool don't seem to relax. Kenny just plays his best team and tells them to go for it.

This is why I think they'll fade at the end of next season especially if they play Europa. People predicting top 4 are wrong imo.

Anyone looking back on their season and checking up on the players they've kept the longest?

There's only one player who I've kept the entire season.

      Ben Foster.

I kept Tevez for 33 weeks, and have had VdV since GW 8 too. Everyone else has been in and out of my team at various times.

I've had Yaya Toure in my team at 3 sepatate intervals I think, and have also rebought quite a few players including Nani, RVP, Baines, Nasri and well... Kolarov.

Foster, Elmohamady and Adam (and 'took a punt' on VDV and Huth very early on).

Both Adam and VDV have been in and out of the team.

Could have kept Adam and Odemwingie from the start and just left them there. It's my first season in FPL and one thing I have learnt is not to chop and change bargain/value regulars like N'Zogbia, Odemwingie and Adam just to be try and cute over one or two possible missed games. Waste too many transfers and funds getting them back in.

'Doubts' often fail to materialise and injured players return far quicker than anticipated (e.g. Djourou, RVP, ). I'm going to keep much more of my powder dry next season, but of course, it's going to be the usual challenge spotting the next Adam, Odemwingie at rock bottom prices.

Your logic makes no sense. By your logic a late challenge would never be penalised. Yes Hernandez played for it, yes the ball was out of play when contact occured. However Robinson went to ground and made contact.

Not a bad start to the gamesweek, only 2 of my team have played (DJ+Adam) and I already have 25 points! Hope the rest of my team can average 12.5 points each 🙂

I had DJ before the ban, good avg indeed! On 20 myself, there's hope for a good GW

What was everyone's target at the start of the season and how is the outcome?
I wanted top 10K and someone on here (nomar or jalafad) told me I should aim at top 1K (considering my rank last year in my 1st season)... and now I'm more or less there, still sweating!

Aim for top 10k really, after that anything is a bonus.

I'm aiming for #1 but will be happy with anything inside or around the top 5k.

I don't want to think about #1, enough stress with my ranking! But I'm in the fight for my country's (Switzerland) top spot

Lad who's no#1 was on here a couple of nights ago. Seemed like a decent enough lad. Pressure to do the correct transfer must be tough when you find yourself there.

And how do u feel with your season, you've had a good one! I remember you telling me the RVP to Rooney transfer has to be done (I didn't)... funny to see how many wrong decisions I took despite decent ranking... had planned Dempsey in for the double weeks ahead and went for Ethers (c) for a 6-pt haul

Well happy with my season. Never expected it. Top 10k was aim (like many)
Was championing bringing Adam and odem in on Thursday, didn't and brought in nzog and Suarez. I think though if you go through most transfers with hindsight, everyone makes mistakes. Just no point in dwelling on them though (guilty myself of that though)
Lady luck definitely plays her part.

Indeed, that's the whole point. FPL is no science and you can't avoid mistakes...
Good luck for the remaining 1.5 GW!

              No shit.

I was leading the Metro fantasy football national competition three weeks ago. Brought in Zamora for the DGW, and captained him.

He was a sub both games. Came on in the last few minutes of the midweek game, only to have a genuine goal disallowed and got booked for the protest, getting minus points.

That one transfer looks like costing me the cash prize for first place.

Right I really need Lampard to get at least 15 points today...

It should be possible against a Newcastle side with no boots but my only fear is that Chelsea will do everyting to let Torres score and that includes letting him take spot kicks...

I doubt he'll be on spot kicks. He's already scored now, his season is a write off. He'll come back firing next season.

Made the update. But psn isn't up yet here (Germany) yet. Think it's being activated geographically.
