The final Captain Poll of the season is now up and taking your votes on the front page. Although it’s upsetting to mark the passing of our Fantasy seasons, we nonetheless have to gather our thoughts and consider this final gameweek with care. Hopefully there’s plenty of us still in sight of mini-league glory, Chris McGurn sitting on top of the Fantasy Premier League, will certainly be deliberating every decision as looks to close in on the overall crown.

The armband looks set to be more critical than ever but, in a gameweek that’s likely to be riddled with second string players as rest and rotation bite hard, the decision looks a tough one.

Tottenham’s Rafael Van der Vaart is an early contender at home to hapless Birmingham but the Dutchman’s injury at Anfield has placed doubts over his start on Sunday. Charlie N’Zogbia is another leading candidate – his explosive form threatens to drag Wigan clear or relegation, but a trip to the Britannia is hardly the welcoming venue for the Latic’s latest bid for survival. Dimitar Berbatov is the early poll leader – the silky Bulgarian looks in line for a start when Blackpool’s wayward defence arrive at Old Trafford. Can “Uncle Bulgaria” fetch the goals that will snatch the Golden Boot and turn the tide for opportunist Fantasy Managers?

Cast your vote on the front page and use this thread to discuss you early thoughts on the skipper situation.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I am idealistically hoping lolarov gets a haul. Also would love Yaya to get some pts. I've got my highest minileague position this week all year and I have Walker coming off the bench to help press home my advantage. need a buffer for my 8pnt hit ia have planned tp get my final gw dream team.

It was Demba Ba as well! Probably the shortest name in the whole league!!

This made me chuckle on twitter:

Can anyone think of an unluckier player than Nigerian defender Darlington Omodiagbe? No, not because his parents named him Darlington, but because he's just got relegated for the fifth season in a row with five different clubs: four times from the German second division (SpVgg Unterhaching 2007, Carl Zeiss Jena 2008, VfL Osnabrück 2009, Rot Weiss Ahlen 2010) and on Saturday he went down from the third division with Wacker Burghausen when they somehow failed to win at home to 1.FC Saarbrücken.

Best of luck to the next club that signs him...

Very helpful thanks, so you would need 2143 which would place 973. I heard it was transfers that determine places if equal on points? Am shagged then on 56 transfers this season but chuffed to have halved the deficit to 23 points, 2120 so far.

Sometimes i think you have to be a neutral, or not a fanatic, to get lucky with this game! As a utd fan, i never choose a player playing against us and there is certain players i never get in out of their teams' rivalry with united! Its a ridiculous strategy, but i hate being conflicted by football! At least im not a lower table club fan! Anyone else have this problem! Is there a fantasy primera liga btw? Maybe ill do better at that!

Dont get your knickers twisted! It simply means that on the balance of probabilities a lower league team player (as in a team not usually associated with top 6 in the league- i wont name any particular team) playing against a team higher in the league will score less fpl pts than we will say, a standard pick of united, ie nani, rooney, evra. Nothing derogatory against such clubs or their fans. Just means i would suck even more at this game if i was conflicted! And i do realise that the likes of Adam, Ba and Jarvis dont conform to such a view, just saying on balance of probabilities!

They throw you out of the fanclub if they catch you. You have to go and support Chelsea or Arsenal then.
That's how us who support 'lower' teams ended up with them, they always caught us picking players on FPL who are playing against our sides. I just picked Lampard this GW, so I'll be forced to support a really shit club.

        Like Sunderland.

Tough GW this, particularly with all the permutations at the bottom, it's almost as though you have to pick the teams who are gonna stay up before you plan what players to get. On top of that, we have the likes of United playing second/third/fourth string sides, although Berbatov looks a good shout for captaincy. I've closed the gap at the top of my mini league to 16 points with Silva and Yaya to come and I'm still third! Gonna be an interesting week.

Incidentally, do any United fans actually want Man U to beat Blackpool?

Vaughan has absolutely zero end product. For me, he is a similar player ability wise to Gary O'Neil.

He's in a role where few players get the chance to score or assist many, and is close to the top of every defensive OPTA category too. Good player in my opinion.

Yeah agree with that. Blackpool look a much more dangerous team when he's playing.

Hardly a myth. His work goes un-noticed, excellent passer and can tackle. Far better than Charles IMO.

I agree, they are nailed on to go down next season if not this. I'd just rather get rid of dull clubs like Blackburn and Birmingham whilst we have the chance.

More like a hull- brilliant start, followed by a collapse drawn out over two season.

If Evans plays they have a reasonable chance of getting something. I presume a powerful Carling Cup XI will be sent out.

ah Johnny Evans, best young centre back in the Prem according to AP last year (his words - wish I had the post bookmarked), now hes rubbish (apparently)

He was never even consistently good defensively, just played a few nice balls out from the back.......

ah come off it, he was a good defender when he had his confidence.

Really? I think he managed to get away for an unseemly amount of time with an awful sense of positional awareness and non-existant upper body strength through a combination of hiding behind Vidic and making needless "last-ditch challenges" which occassionally came off....

Awful sense of positional awareness? He has absolutely brilliant... infact I don't know why I am sticking up for a United player.

You are right, he's sh1t, I stand corrected.

The goal he conceded over the weekend sums it up for me- completely clueless.

Smalling on the other hand...... 😉
