The last midweek Dugout Discussion of the season sees a repeat of the enthralling FA Cup Final between Manchester City and Stoke City. There’s no silverware at stake tonight, but for Man City there is the genuine incentive of leap-frogging Arsenal into third, with automatic Champions League qualification the reward for sitting there come Sunday evening.

Although not a televised game, the Dugout Discussion is open for business and serves to house your reactions as the news comes in. The first news in are those all-important line-ups…

Man City XI: Hart, Richards, Kompany, Lescott, Zabaleta, Milner, De Jong, Silva, Yaya Toure, Adam Johnson, Tevez.

Stoke XI: Sorensen, Wilkinson, Collins, Shawcross, Wilson, Pugh, Diao, Whelan, Whitehead, Walters, Carew.

Roberto Mancini names David Silva and Carlos Tevez amongst his first eleven, with the former playing despite being tagged a major injury doubt. Aleksander Kolarov misses out again, to the annoyance of those still unfortunate to own him.

Stoke also make a host of changes, with popular fantasy players Asmir Begovic, Robert Huth and Matthew Etherington all sidelined for one reason or another. Elsewhere, John Carew earns a rare start at the expence of Kenwyn Jones.

Akers Richard or Akers, as he is known, has been regularly haunting this site since July 2008. He is young and foolish, take what he says with a pinch of salt. Follow them on Twitter

What would you do with this team for this week

    Hart Carson

    Dawson Lescott Bardsley Huth Elokobi

    Kuyt Nani Silva Pennant Ferguson

RVP Rooney Odemwingie 2.6m in bank

I was thinking something like Rooney to Tevez, Pennant and Silva to N'Zog and Adam if they're both ruled out. That's on first look anyway

2010/11: 769 (winning my mini leagues by 54 and 38 pts)
    2009/10: 20575
    2008/09: 55030

I can't wait for the next season.

How much thankfull I am to all those who suggested going with Lescott instead of Kolarov

I can't believe anyone chose Kolarov over someone who was at least going to play all of City's games. Tonight's goal was a delightful bonus.

Yep, you are right. Looks so easy in handsight. But at that time, both looked rotation threat, there were lots of talk and discussion on who would be the back line for City in mid-week match.

        all well that ends well.

If I had Kolarov instead, not the end of the world, as I had Dawson on the subs 🙂 silver spoon in the hand this week.

Tks Chinmusic. You have been climbing up steadily. Good luck

Which ManU mifielder would you pick?
Im thinking Nani, hes been fantasy gold all year except last 4 games, 3 of which were away games and the other a tough home game vs everton.
About 90% sure he'll start too.

Google which monitors your searches and has kept them on file aswell as your private details

Facebook which gives your details to agencies so they can spot market you. Which has closed down numerous public accounts with no basis and is being sued cos of it

Twitter which markets itself a free and objective but allows its time and content to be bought and promotes any cause when money is on the table.

They are just all faceless multinational corporations using your data to get more profits (or in twitters case any profit) while trying to market themselves as california surfer dude types.

Google pulling out of China was lovely PR. They also did many things which was simpler to the Chinese government.

One of the reasons they pulled out is they lost the total control of some aspects which they are used of

Tommy K I think your views of google are way off the mark. I respect them as a business for managing to stay at the forefront of the fastest changing industry in history, and for knocking microsoft of their perch. As far as ethics and trustworthiness they are no different from any other company trying to monopolize a global industry. All that matters is bottom line & market share. Pulling out of China had nothing to do with taking a moral stance. Do you guys remember when they launched street view? As they drove around taking photos they were collecting data from any unsecure wifi network they passed. Of course it was all an "accident" How do you accidentally access and store personal information when your taking photos 😕

Think I'm definitely going to get Nani and Tevez in. Then third transfer will either be

N'Zogbia in, if Nani doesn't play Suarez will come in.

Berbatov in, if Nani doesn't play Y.Toure will come in.

I think I prefer the first option.

    Ok then - options are:

Huth or Baird out to shore up defence
    and/or
    RvP/Suarez->Berbatov
    or
    RvP/Suarez->Berbatov/Tevez (4 point hit)

can't really see any other options at the moment.
Probably not worth doing a 4 pointer in a tight run for 1st in my League.

      Perthite:

I only like one move for a better FWD- toss up, but Tevez looked sharp in ball handling and Berbatov is an enigma to me.

I would wait to use the 4 pt hit in case we find out some shocking news like Lampard won't start.

Thanks for all your lineup posts, they have helped in my other Yahoo FF game when the deadline is closer to start time.

and I am totally not fond of shipping RVP or somewhat less for Suarez, though Carroll cramps his style. On Suarez, I would almost consider doing a defensive improvement before shipping him out for Berbs. Tevez is a close question.

No worries - I get them from:

        http://www.sportinglife.com/football/popup/teams.auto?/opt/ASFapache/htdocs/site/football/live/teams/teams.insdat

Yeah - you are right in waiting (which I usually do) because of people going out late. I am aiming to avoid a 4 point hit, but the possible carnage might force my hand.

Do you think RvP or Suarez is more sensible to take out if I just do the one forward transfer?

(I just realised I only have 4 home players this week and one of those is the non-paying Baird!)

Suarez to Tevez-- w/o a hit, is an OK move. Tevez has huge motivation to win this award- lots of banquets, some more cash, historical record, etc. To me it's close, .... not an overwhelmingly great move, such as Rooney or Hernadez to Tevez would be. Let's see how he feels the next few days in the soap opera of his life.

    # (c)=290/433 66.9% Bench=218 9.5%

Does this mean I picked the right captain, just 2/3rds of the time from MY available players or from the BEST players that week?

What is 218 (points?)-- did I leave that many on the bench or just 10% of them- recently my bench players have been weak because Ferguson (who I got a few weeks ago) is off the boil.

Thanks. I loaded the program so I can do a grease of your team for a while.

If you captained your best player every week you would have got 433 points from your captains this season, you managed 290 (66.9%) Which is a good effort.
Yep 218 points have gone unclaimed on your bench this season. 9.5% for bench is good too, having bench fodder like ferguson or injured players will obviously mean less points on the bench though.

For example - if your highest scoring player was on the bench and his points didn't contribute to your final score. Would they be considered towards the captain stats or does it only use the highest score of the 11 players used for your points calculation?

Not having those two could be the difference between winning and losing your league.

tactical reasons? imo the only reason he wouldnt play is to rest him for the champions league, or because he might pick up an injury. His pace and finishing will be useful against blackpool who are a dream to counter attack.

Fergie's made it clear that tactically he prefers hernandez and rooney... but maybe he'll give berbatov a chance to get his golden boot.

If VDV was my only injured player I'd prefer to just sell VDV for a midfielder, and hope tevez does nothing.

berbs could get a huge haul. Personally if they both start I'd expect nani to outscore him. Berbs probably has more potential for a massive score though.

What happens in the event of a draw in the race for the golden boot?

Im very intrigued by this. Ive found google to be my enemy in the past so wont even start looking into it through fear of going round in circles nearly finding the answer i require like usual. Nevermind ignorance is bliss..... If berba eventually comes out on top.
