Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he expects both Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri to be Arsenal players next season. Speaking at a press conference this morning prior to Arsenal’s pre-season tour of Malaysia, the Gunners boss attempted to kill speculation that both players would be departing following weeks of rumour surrounding their futures.

Wenger also confirmed the signing of Lille striker Gervinho and revealed that he had no plans to strengthen at left-back following the departure of Gael Clicy to Man City.

The news will come as a hugely significant development for Fantasy Managers who now look set to re-consider both Fabregas and Nasri with just over a month remaining before the season kick-off.

Despite a difficult initial run, Arsenal have a very favourable first half to the season and their Fantasy assets are set to attract plenty of early interest as a result. With doubts surrounding the futures of Fabregas and Nasri, Robin Van Persie had emerged as the key target – today’s comments from Wenger may well change matters.

As for the left-back situation, Wenger has suggested that he will look to hand the promising Kieran Gibbs his opportunity following several seasons in the shadow of Clichy. While persistent injury is always a concern for Gibbs, he will be another name in the Gunners squad being monitored for Fantasy potential next term. Thomas Vermaelen is another possibility for the role however, he could be shifted to full-back if Wenger can seal the capture of one of his reported transfer targets in central defence.

Gervinho represents Wenger’s first major capture of the pre-season; the Ivorian remains in London embarking on his own training regime but will be united with his new team-mates when Arsenal return from their tour. We will of course bring you a full Scout Report on the player very soon.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

The sun can offer cash prizes as they are limited to UK residents, FPL wouldn't be able to offer cash prizes as it currently is since they have such a huge number of non-UK players.

Yeah your right it is restricted to the UK but it is the Sun Newspaper, to be expected, but FPL could offer Prizes if they wanted to, they are not restricted because of its global appeal lol but they don't need to offer any good cash/prize incentives to get people to play, because it's so dam good!

No, that's not true. The FPL cannot offer cash prizes to non-UK players due to legal issues involving other countries. I'm sure the Sun would love to include non-UK players too, but again they can't for legal reasons.

Does anyone find the juxtaposition slightly odd?

Stoke defenders who are notoriously burly and used to breaking legs sign a defender who always has a broken leg?

Seems like there may have been a communication breakdown between what they wanted and what they got.

Meanwhile, Gasperini has revealed that Inter are closing on a deal for Santos full-back Jonathan.

The 25-year-old has a €15million (£13.2m) release clause in his contract and Inter are ready to meet that valuation.

The television program 'Heartbeat' was cancelled after its first season when the entire cast caught whooping cough and died.
Due to extrordinary public demand the series was rescheduled and still runs to this day.
The second series to the present uses re-edited scenes from the first series and is dubbed over in parts, whereas two of the original cast, Greengrass the hobo and Nick 'Nick Berry' Berry the policemen had their graves interred and their corpses re-animated via strings and electronics without and noticable difference in acting ability.

by "best players" I mean you can buy galactico signings, but they won't necessarily work well together.

Barcelona certainly do have superb players, but they also play in a way that brings out their best and allows them to shine. Not to mention many of them were trained at Barcelona under just such a system.

But a jigsaw with amazing pieces is only half of it. The pieces have to fit, which is why Fulham a couple of years back were so good. Not the individuals, but the team.

Theres not a chance in hell id put Gerrard in ANY England side. Beckham is a bit different, he cares and has a workrate that would make your average worker bee look lazy.

The bottom line is most national football teams only needs (and can indeed only cope with) a 3 or 4 of what would normally be perceived as 'the best' in their preferred position for their clubs. What you really need is a backbone of players who work hard and always give their best, players who's 'best' can vary wildly from week to week will only lead to sporadic results.

All just my opinion of course 🙂 People really need to be able to leave the club bias at the door when it comes to the national team.

Sick of hearing rumours, nobody knows apart from a few people working on this site and obviously the people at FPL. I don't see why they just don't tell us. Instead they say it will be out very soon and then don't say anything for days, it is like they are trying to shut us up.

A small number of clubs have gone several decades without being relegated. Arsenal of England, for instance, have only been relegated once in their entire history, and have been in the top flight continuously since 1919 - by far the longest such run in English football. Not far behind Arsenal is Standard Liège of Belgium, which has also been relegated only once in its history and has maintained continuous top flight status since 1921.

on a realistic note the pro's and cons for them opening early are as follows:

          Pro: More ad revenue
Con: Less time for bug fixes etc
Con: More updates with transfers etc.
Pro: More time to gather players

          Seems about 50/50 really

Agreed. Less time spent having every PL player in our teams, the better!

          Less RMTs!

Doesn't really matter, the players at Senior and U21s level aren't good enough anyway.

Really though, discussing Heaven's Divide in particular is more or less akin to arguing over why I'd rather gouge my eyes out with the "scoop" part of a spoon instead of stab at them with the "handle" end. The takeaway is that my eyes are being ravaged, here. Given the option, I'd much rather use the spoon to eat some pudding instead.

And that's my problem. I want pudding - I even have pudding already on my PSP! - but I can't have pudding while playing this game, because the spoon I would use to eat said pudding is too busy being inside my eyeballs.

    I love that quote.

I wanted to see Robbie Keane sign for Villa, and for them to hang on to Ash - Keane, Bent 'n' Young forward line!

I want to see Newcastle sign Carlton Cole, Ashley Cole and Joe Cole, but I don't see it happening.

I heard Kean was keen on Keane, but now it seems as so Spurs are likely to get more money from any Taarabt transfer than they will from Keane leaving. Hilarious, really.

If that'd happend and Keane played a little deeper it would have been, Young, Bent and Keane in the hole?
