QPR have this afternoon announced that Adel Taarabt will not be leaving the club this summer.

In an official statement posted “on behalf of majority shareholders Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatoreâ€, Rangers announced that Taarabt will not be sold, despite the club receiving bids for his services…

“We rebuffed all approaches and indeed, we are keen to build for the future in the Barclays Premier League, and not sell one of our prized assets… Taarabt is fully committed to the Club and is looking forward to proving his undoubted star quality for QPR in the Barclays Premier League.â€

This will come as a major relief for all connected to the club but is also hugely significant news for Fantasy Managers.

Taarabt has long been earmarked as QPR’s key Fantasy asset going into the season. Our recent Scout Report article goes into depth on his potential this term – soak that up for the full details. In a nutshell however, Taarabt arrives in the top flight off the back of a season where he claimed 19 goals and 16 assists in his 43 starts. His importance the QPR’s survival chances is undoubted – his potential for Fantasy returns unquestionable.

Snuggled in the mid-price bracket (6.5 in the Fantasy Premier League) across the various games, this news will restore confidence amongst Fantasy Managers and surely see Taarabt arrive in many squads prior to Gameweek one. The fact that QPR are also blessed with a kind baptism back in the Premier League in terms of early opponents will only compound the Moroccan’s popularity.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    NOT a RMT!

    Given Al Habsi
    Luiz Kompany Baird Simpson Orr
    Malouda Silva Taarabt Sinclair Moses
    Bent Suarez Zamoura

Have 1m left to upgrade Bent/Suarez to Drogba/Torres depending on who starts and then further to RVP GW4.

Shall I save the 1m or spend it?

another option with B could be malouda for silva and downgrade one mid?

I wouldn't double up on Villa tbh, I reckon Given is enough cover... and plus if N'Zogbia goes to Villa you'll have 4 Villians...

      Dunne to Hughes maybe...

I've been going back and forth between just that. I want to take advantage of AV opening run. But it's probably worth saving 0.5m on Hughes. Would you spend the extra 1.5m to upgrade Tiote to Barton (or someone else) or save it in the bank?

Neither do i Stevvi. I'd just play it safe, with the 6-6.5m mids and go big with your strike force, and make sure you have 1 or 2 solid defenders.

Liverpool have such an array of choices in midfield, so i'll just wait to see who Kenny lines up with more often then not, and jump on the bandwagon when their fixtures ease.

I wont be starting with Adam, and i'd advise you not to either 😉

Sound advice and that's where I am now with my team. One or 2 big hitters sourrounded by possibles/hopefuls.

I do think Adam could be the real deal (size or not!) but needs to prove himself at L'pool against Man U 😉 Not that I'm starting him!

Think I have finally cracked it. Can you please RMT.

    Given (Ruddy)
    Foley Kompany Enrique (Orr, Simpson)
    Hoolahan Yaya Lampard Tarrabt (Ferguson)
    RVP Bent Suarez

GK: Thought I should get Kenny but then I said I will prob play Given every game, regardless of opposition. Ruddy only 4.0 that starts.

Def: Kompany is a must imo, Enrique is in only if he moves, the other three rotate quite well and are cheap.

Mid: Lamps only guarenteed chelsea attacker to start and need chelsea coverage due to their fixtures, Yaya again need city coverage due to fixtures, Tarrabt is the new Adam imo, Hoolahan as a differential.

Fwd: RVP is a must, Bent is there to villa fixtures, Suarez to cover liverpool.

Have I finally got a decent team?
Any advice on improvements would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers.

i'm thinking of going in for schwarzer instead of given.

fulham had a large amount of clean sheets. villa defence isn't too solid. ferguson doesn't look too likely to play.

But you can disagree with the reason you think the statistic is important.

For example, Fulham and Villa have both had a change of manager, and I think it's fair to say both, but particularly McLeish, have a different footballing philosophy to their predecessors.

In other words, I don't think your statistic means sh1t.

Bent uncreative maybe a bad FPL prospect....?

He is probably the most consitent finisher in the premier league.

He is the top premier league goal scorer since 2005 passing Drogba and Rooney last season.

He is on penalties and all Villa's attacking play goes though him and he has the following starting fixtures...ful BLA WOL eve NEW qpr WIG.

If he was called Bentaldinho, had a ridiculous hair cut and pink boots you'd think he was a legend.

PS he stuck 2 beauties past your lot to put the nail in the coffin of your season.

Yeah, ready to snap up Chelsea players once the starting line up is established but it seems too risky at the moment unless you go for the expense of Lampard or Cole and then possibly downgrade later

          quiz question:
v wigan jermain defoe get 25 points. he scored 5 goals, played 60+mins and didn't get any yellow cards or assists. how many bps did he get?

Nothing is guaranteed, but I highly doubt that anyone scoring a hattrick won't walk away with all 3 baps... maybe the hattrick is a bad example, I would say that someone scoring the winning goal in 1-0 will be a lot less likely to get 3bps given the new indices at play... but once again that is just guess work...

We'll know more once we have some context and experience with the BP allocation after GW1...

My three over riding memories of the old Actim bonus system:

        1. Crespo coming on for the last 10 minutes of Chelsea's opening game, scoring for a 1-0 win and getting all the bonus points

        2. Second week of the season, Stevie G putting in one of the most extraordinary performances I've ever seen in a 0-0 draw with Middlesborough ("we thought he was going to be heading in his own crosses at one point" - Gareth Southgate). No bonus points.

        3. Constant interminable waits for the boni to come up the next week (usually a Tuesday).

Not happy with the change back.

I do think they've changed the formula since then though, with different weightings on the individual indices.

For example, playing the full 90 counts as part of the overall score (so I've been told), so hopefully 3 BPs won't be going to late subs!!

I hope so. I have a vauge memory of starting the following season with a front line weighing in at well over 30m to try and take advantage of the boni going to goal scorers. Won't be going that heavy this year but certainly going to make the most of my 3 strikers.

Technically it is no longer as inevitable as it used to be (apart from that occasion where there were two hattricks in one game, think it may have been Santa Cruz who got the 2BPs)

Two hattricks that come to mind last season are Kuyt and Balotelli. They both got 3 goals that were all either tap ins or penalties; it would be interesting to see the EA stats from these games, because i don't really know if this would be regarded that well on the stats. It depends what their criteria is.
