QPR have this afternoon announced that Adel Taarabt will not be leaving the club this summer.

In an official statement posted “on behalf of majority shareholders Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore”, Rangers announced that Taarabt will not be sold, despite the club receiving bids for his services…

“We rebuffed all approaches and indeed, we are keen to build for the future in the Barclays Premier League, and not sell one of our prized assets… Taarabt is fully committed to the Club and is looking forward to proving his undoubted star quality for QPR in the Barclays Premier League.”

This will come as a major relief for all connected to the club but is also hugely significant news for Fantasy Managers.

Taarabt has long been earmarked as QPR’s key Fantasy asset going into the season. Our recent Scout Report article goes into depth on his potential this term – soak that up for the full details. In a nutshell however, Taarabt arrives in the top flight off the back of a season where he claimed 19 goals and 16 assists in his 43 starts. His importance the QPR’s survival chances is undoubted – his potential for Fantasy returns unquestionable.

Snuggled in the mid-price bracket (6.5 in the Fantasy Premier League) across the various games, this news will restore confidence amongst Fantasy Managers and surely see Taarabt arrive in many squads prior to Gameweek one. The fact that QPR are also blessed with a kind baptism back in the Premier League in terms of early opponents will only compound the Moroccan’s popularity.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Do you think:

    A) walcott is a nailed on starter?
    B) malouda is a nailed on starter?

If neither... who to add for 10.5 or less? Currently other mids are taarabt, tchoyi, nzogbia, yaya.

I would say Walcott is a nailed on starter. But he won't be getting bonus points as he is always substituted.

Hmm true. But I think assists or goals improve the rating a lot so if he does well he should still be in the hunt for bps.

My understanding is that the new bp system will mostly affect low scoring games. Last season when walcott played he was prolific but admittedly he didn't get much game time. Wondering if this could be a new era for him.

    What do you think guys?

    De Gea (Gordon)
    Kompany Carragher Huth Luiz (Brown)
    Arteta Toure Etherington Jarvis (Tiote)
    RVP Suarez (Holt)

Little concerned with Arteta because of the way Everton usually start, but they have a good run of fixtures.
Perhaps not enough bonus magnets either?

Carragher is a no for me, Lpool have poor start. And not exactly exceptional defensively, look elsewhere.

Huth - overpriced and terrible fixtures.

      Etherington - poor fixtures

Jarvis - so many better options, Sessegnon, Taarabt, O'Hara, etc.

Tiote - Will get you no more than 2 points, mostly 1 pointers. barring possible BP

      Frontline is good.

It is. But does it balance?

No striker worth having between 6 and 9 million. AT ALL.

Dint see the point in sacrficing defenders for average strikers. Doyle is probably best value for money.

Although Im thinking Gervinho now. Downgrade Bale for Taarabt, ?!

Ba, Zamora, Rodallega for the early games. Remember you have to bench someone every game. There'll be a lot of wasted money on your bench.

Defensive is WAY too expensive. Rafael and Agger not guaranteed starting XI.

Jagielka has poor fixtures and Everton usually start slowly.

Wilshere not an ideal FF player.

Bale, terrible fixtures, look at VDV if any Spurs.

Poor frontline, no chance to slip in RVP or Rooney easily

i don't know if anyones done this yet but please take a look at the below:
    Given - Ruddy
    Vidic - Lescott - S Taylor - Turner - Whitbread
    Gerrard - Tchoyi - Tarrabt - Moses - Sessegnon
Van Persie - Bent - Zamora

And before anyone says anything i know Kompany is .5 cheaper than Lescott but i think he's more of a goal threat and will play the league games while others are rested for champions league.

Vidic - Poor fixtures, rather have A Cole for 0.5 less.

Turner not nailed on, Bramble is.

Gerrard? Interesting, rather have Silva, Vdv, Malouda, Lampard at least, ahead of him.

      Love the frontline.

        Thanks for the feedback.

Turner and Bramble will be first choice and i think Turners more of a goal threat.
If Gerrard plays where i think hes going to, behind the front two, then he could be ace but i'll take him out if hes not.

Still don't understand the continuing love for Lampard, hes old getting older and really isnt worth his price.

I know there's a lot of uncertainty over how they'll line up, but only 3.6% have Malouda and the smae for Lampard. Even Cole, who is assured of his starting spot is only at 12% ownership.

      Jagielka maybe, good early fixtures.

Gibbs has good potential and dawson too when spurs fixtures improve.

it'd be gas if all their transfers flopped.
possible with sulky/nutter heads like suarez/carroll about the place. and adam may be a ball waster with long pass after long pass

PS - I love the false hope that comes in waves every 4-5 years with liverpool. Always followed by a downfall.

Liverpool's defence has looked leaky all Pre Season. Really needs to be ironed out. Conceded alot of goals.

to be fair Doni, Kelly, Carragher, Ayala, Robinson is only 1/5 of their likely defence to start the season, same as in the other friendlies it's been a real mix and match

Playing 22 different players each game I wouldn't put too much into it. Poole will defend.

OK after reviewing the fixtures I have come up twith a solid (ish) plan for the first few weeks.

    Reina (Mingolet)

Ivanovic, Huth, Jose Enrique, Baines (Salgado)

    Johnson, N'Zogbia, Barton, Taarabt (Etherington)

    Drogba, Rodellega (Holt)

    2.5M Banked

    Planned Changes:
De Gea in for Reina after week 6.
Drogba can be changed for any of the big forwards, will see who is on form after week 2.
I will have 1.0m left to maybe do Rafael in for Salgado - if he is starting. In that case I will keep Reina as a keeper instead of getting de Gea.

Can you spot any obvious holes in that plan?

Sorry but there seems to a fair few holes.
Salgado won't play, Johnson may well not start games, bit of a gamble with both Rodellega and Holt to come through and who knows if Drogba is gonna be a regular starter.

      Johnson. Poor choice.

Defense is also too expensive, and you don't have captaincy options.
