QPR Hold Onto Taarabt

QPR have this afternoon announced that Adel Taarabt will not be leaving the club this summer.

In an official statement posted “on behalf of majority shareholders Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatoreâ€, Rangers announced that Taarabt will not be sold, despite the club receiving bids for his services…

“We rebuffed all approaches and indeed, we are keen to build for the future in the Barclays Premier League, and not sell one of our prized assets… Taarabt is fully committed to the Club and is looking forward to proving his undoubted star quality for QPR in the Barclays Premier League.â€

This will come as a major relief for all connected to the club but is also hugely significant news for Fantasy Managers.

Taarabt has long been earmarked as QPR’s key Fantasy asset going into the season. Our recent Scout Report article goes into depth on his potential this term – soak that up for the full details. In a nutshell however, Taarabt arrives in the top flight off the back of a season where he claimed 19 goals and 16 assists in his 43 starts. His importance the QPR’s survival chances is undoubted – his potential for Fantasy returns unquestionable.

Snuggled in the mid-price bracket (6.5 in the Fantasy Premier League) across the various games, this news will restore confidence amongst Fantasy Managers and surely see Taarabt arrive in many squads prior to Gameweek one. The fact that QPR are also blessed with a kind baptism back in the Premier League in terms of early opponents will only compound the Moroccan’s popularity.

      Nope, don't think anyone can. The thinking is Luiz could be Essien cover ... but Mikel or another may also be chosen by AVB.

      Most of that thinking re: Luiz is based on his price and points potential.

    This is why I suppose tinkering with our teams is extremely pointless. We all should wait until the week before the season really, I hadn't even considered Taraabt because I thought he was basically 100% going to leave.

    I posted my team earlier, i have now changed the defence from BBBRR to BBRRR and have 1.5 mill left over to upgrade. So what would you or anyone advise because honestly im struggling to find worthwhile improvements.

    if you play as defender and yo are allowed to lose play and get involved in which luiz seems to do. then great he may get extra points. people want him to be in a dm postion and think he will become a bargin it will back fire he would have to the sitter and marshall the line inbetween defence and midfield and also dift out left and right and try and plug holes that cole and ivan/bos may leave. imo if we were told he was a centre started i would maybe consider getting him as well as cole.

      +1. Luiz will only fulfill his fantasy football potential if he plays at centre back. I'm not sure exactly why this excitement has generated about the potential of him playing in the holding role.

        I disagree. The reason he'd be played in midfield is because he needs to have less defensivce responsibility because he likes drifting forward.

        Nobody is going to tell me a dm has more defensive responsibilities than a central defender!

        He doesn't have the discipline to sit tight. He will get forward and if there is a defence behind him, he will be more likely to get clean sheet points too

    Its pretty obvious to me that Tarabt will just get marked out of every game and sulk. Bothroyd is a genuine star and rotates perfectly with Sinclair who is on pens.

    Off on holiday soon this will be my team until just before the start of the season. Had to change it around to fit Taarabt in as I originally thought he would be leaving.

    I did have Malouda but worried he may not start, seems to be a minefield working out who will get regular starts at the mo. Not too worried about Man U cover with their opening fixtures. However can a team with no players from arguably the two best teams still perform well?
    I will have alot of money on the bench each week as I'll have to drop a mid or att but I like being able to swap these round depending upon fixtures.
    Odemwingie has awful opening fixtures but he can just sit on the bench so I don't have to use a transfer in week 3. Also the cash will be there ready to change him to Ba or Zamora if they start knocking them in early on.
    Any thoughts appreciated........

          Olsson is your best bet, our best defender by miles and decent from set pieces. Shorey I can't see being dropped unless we get another left back, which we won't.

          Other centre back is a mystery, totally up for grabs between 4 players, Tamas, Pablo, Dawson and McAuley. Same with right back, Reid will start RB but I think Billy Jones will surprise a few people this season.

      Chances are Dan isn't your best option for advice when it comes to WBA.

      McAuley at centre back is a possibilty is a possibility but theres no way of telling at the moment. Keep an eye out for the pre-season line ups.

          I dunno, obviously not at the moment but you never know. We had two rubbish keepers last season, not surprised we barely kept any clean sheets.

      Apparently if he goes on loan to a Prem team, Fulham aren't able to recall him, so if he does go out on loan he's more likely to go to a Championship team.

      Pottentially, I was thinking of subbing holt in for Rodallega after Wigan's games get a bit more tricky, but may just go for Ba depending on how either of them are doing.
