QPR have this afternoon announced that Adel Taarabt will not be leaving the club this summer.

In an official statement posted “on behalf of majority shareholders Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatoreâ€, Rangers announced that Taarabt will not be sold, despite the club receiving bids for his services…

“We rebuffed all approaches and indeed, we are keen to build for the future in the Barclays Premier League, and not sell one of our prized assets… Taarabt is fully committed to the Club and is looking forward to proving his undoubted star quality for QPR in the Barclays Premier League.â€

This will come as a major relief for all connected to the club but is also hugely significant news for Fantasy Managers.

Taarabt has long been earmarked as QPR’s key Fantasy asset going into the season. Our recent Scout Report article goes into depth on his potential this term – soak that up for the full details. In a nutshell however, Taarabt arrives in the top flight off the back of a season where he claimed 19 goals and 16 assists in his 43 starts. His importance the QPR’s survival chances is undoubted – his potential for Fantasy returns unquestionable.

Snuggled in the mid-price bracket (6.5 in the Fantasy Premier League) across the various games, this news will restore confidence amongst Fantasy Managers and surely see Taarabt arrive in many squads prior to Gameweek one. The fact that QPR are also blessed with a kind baptism back in the Premier League in terms of early opponents will only compound the Moroccan’s popularity.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Few questions about Dyer and other Swansea players. Just to clear things up (this info will change if, as expected, there are more signings):

Dyer - guaranteed starter on the right wing. Plenty of pace and creativity, but often little end product. Will win plenty of free kicks/penalties due to his pace, but won't score more than a few goals and not a prolific assister. Think Wayne Routledge.

Tate - think John O'Shea at United. Can play anywhere across the back, but unlikely to be a regular starter. First off the bench as cover a possibility. No real attacking threat.

Monk - club captain but far from a guaranteed starter. Most likely back four will be Rangel Williams Caulker Taylor.

Sinclair - guaranteed starter on the left wing. Penalty taker but not on free kicks or corners. These will likely be handed to Dobbie/Gower (if starters).

Dobbie - will start in the role behind the striker at home. Away from home, could present a rotation risk as may go for a more defensive midfielder such as Gower/Augustein to play alongside Allen and Britton.

    Likely regular line up:

    Moreira

    Rangel Williams Caulker Taylor

    Allen Britton

    Dyer Dobbie Sinclair

    Graham

Dyer – Plenty of pace and creativity, but often little end product. Think Wayne Routledge Theo Walcott.

Cheers, Chris. A mate of mine is a Swans nut - he wants 11 Leon Brittons in his Fantasy team.

Haha - Leon Britton is a good player - but from a fantasy perspective will get very few assists and even fewer goals! great passer though.

    Given - Kenny

    Luiz - Kompany - Alcaraz - Bramble - Simpson

    Lampard - VdV - Albrighton - Taarabt - Dyer

    RvP - Zamora - Rodallega

If N'Zog moves to Villa i'll have to crowbar him in somehow. This leaves me no attacking city cover, and United or Liverpool cover which I think I can live with.

Hmm, when you put it like that...

However, I want to invest in Chelsea, and having no idea of what's going on with their strikers, and unwilling to shell out 12m for Lampard, I'm pretty sure Malouda will be in my team.

The Chelsea starting line up is unpredictable at best... wait to see how they line up before bringing in Malouda...

Nothing wrong with RMTs. We're all trying to decide who to pick. We've got the players. We've got the prices. But how do we balance positions, potential points, etc? Well seeing and sharing each others ideas is a pretty good way to start.

I'll ask again, if you had to pick a Man Utd M/f?

He's got an injury at the moment though, but if fit, then yeah I'd go with Valencia.

I don't think I'm going to start with any Man Utd players though, line up is too unpredictable, and don't really fancy our opening fixtures. Maybe it's just misplaced pessimism.

For those looking further ahead than the first few weeks, we have a great run in, so that'll be the time to stock up with Man Utd players!

Barton and Wilshire or Tiote and Modric? Barton and Tiote would be my #5 MFs..

    Given Kenny
    Kompany Alcarez Simpson Bramble R.Johnson
    Sinclair Yaya Lampard Duff Taarbat
    Rvp Holt Bent
I'm abit unsure on whether to go with Yaya or Silva but someone earlier said something about Yaya being 9th in the EA indez last year. Anyway, I think this is a pretty good team/balance.
    Thoughts?

I'm not going with any, Tevez if he stays or his replacement for me as City attacking coverage. Don't think either are worth it for the prices they are. Quite like your team, cheap defence but solid picks, not sure about Bent either, I'd much rather have Suarez than him.

I'd prefer Suarez aswell but I doubt he'll play the first game of the season after being at the Copa America. If I get Suarez in it would leave me with .5m to spend elsewhere. Cheers for the comment Dan.

Only just noticed, if a goal is scored from a direct free kick, the player who won the free kick will get an assist. Quite interesting, don't really know what to think....

i don't like it. you could get 3 points for a dive then your team-mate scoring a brilliant free kick

Tricky quick footed players with a decent free kick taker in their team will do well...unless they are the free kick taker.
