All the paper talk today suggests that Aston Villa are closing in on the signing of Charles N’Zogbia from Wigan for a fee in the region of £9.5 million.

There’s no official confirmation of such an agreement from either club at this point but the reports suggest that the French winger will undergo a medical and agree terms within the next 24-hours.

While we wouldn’t normally deal in pure speculation or discuss a transfer yet to be concluded, N’Zogbia’s potential more to Villa Park carries such significance, it deserves our early attention.

Of all the summer transfers so far, this one could have a major impact on the prospects of both clubs and several players nestled in the low-to-mid price brackets across the various Fantasy games.

N’Zogbia himself, a long-time Fantasy favourite, will likely find himself a key player once again. While he has arguably been the leading light at Wigan, his influence and match winning potential seems unlikely to be diluted by a move to Villa Park. With Ashley Young and Stewart Downing now departed, the scene is set for N’Zogbia to take charge at set-plays and orchestrate the key threat to the opposition, in much the same way he did at the Latics. His mid-price value (7.5 in the Fantasy Premier League game) will look appealing to many, particularly those who choose to turn their backs on the goal-getting potential of Darren Bent for Villa’s favourable opening spell of fixtures.

N’Zogbia’s arrival will however have a likely impact on the potential of Marc Albrighton. The England U21 international was expected to build on an hugely encouraging first season in the Premier League by stepping up to fill the void left by Young and Downing. While his starting role should remain assured, N’Zogbia will likely take on the role of lock-picker, supplier of crosses and assists and deadball duties. Albrighton’s potential for points will take a hit – albeit a minor one.

There could be better news for Fantasy managers back at Wigan. Robbed of N’Zogbia’s trickery and guile, Roberto Martinez has a ready-made replacement in Victor Moses. While the 20-year-old lacks the experience and pedigree of the Frenchman, he has the ability in his locker and the hunger to prove himself in the top flight. Already sparkling in pre-season, Moses will surely relish the prospect of regular starts. With a budget price across the various games (5.0 in the Fantasy Premier League), Fantasy managers should also look forward to Moses realising at least some of his potential should the N’Zogbia deal be concluded.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I reckon 5000+ in the scout league at least ..

plus I`m guessing there are a few regular FFS`ers who are annoyed that their secret weapon(FFS) is now openly available to their mini league rivals on the FPL site.

      that's pretty bad.

GK - Norwich and Wolves gk rotation...think about it, how many clean sheets will they get?

Def - Hughes - Salgado - Brown - simpson - Alcaraz is basically five 2pts most weeks. You will need at least one of Vidic-Baines-ACole-Kompany in there to be credible

Mid - Adam - will he start? Duff - I like that choice, Malouda - will he start? Fergerson (you may as well field me (I'm 39 and can't play btw))

Strikers - Tevez - yer, he seems really up for it, not like he wants away at all.
      Bent - yes...keep him
      Torres - competing with Drog
....go for rooney or RVP instead of Torres...consider Zamora, Holt, Rodders, Ba for a cheap striker alternative to Tevez.

I might be putting my head on the chopping block here with the season not underway but what is the deal with lots of people putting moses in their initial teams after one pre season goal.

20 years old, talent yes but proven no not at the highest level (in terms of fepl scores especially). Yes Wigan have a 'favourable' starting run playing 3 promoted teams but does anyone remember what happened last season? Blackpool gave them a nice drubbing on the opening day.

Promoted teams tend to start quickly and given the chance against a weakened wigan they could pounce especially swansea at their home but also norwich on opening day and the champions of the championship qpr in gw 3.

I just don't see moses setting on fire, not this season anyway. A 100 points max even in a good year barry ferguson could pull that and he is no fepl star.

One final point he seems injury prone from the last couple of seasons (what attention I have paid to him). He may have finished last season strongly if anyone knows feel free to reply

I would welcome anyone with a point of view as to why he should be looked at, besides purely price of course.

But will Wigan be as potent attacking without N'Zogbia? Yes Charles leaving is going to open opportunities for other players to step up to a degree but there is no one around to replace him.

True he is a cheap way in but with how promoted teams have started in the past absolutely shooting out of the blocks before struggling to get points after the new year who is to say wigan could be winless after 3 games?

I see what you are saying. Like you mentioned wigan have a really good first 3 fixtures where he could score some points and I'm willing to take a gamble on him for those games. I very much doubt I will keep him for the entire season but in any case I plan to mostly play 3-4-3 and more often than not he will be bench fodder. I think it's hard to see any other players at 5 or less who have the same potential for points that he has.

Returning to my original post quote 'Promoted teams tend to start quickly' the ticker doesn't predict the unexpected how can anyone possibly know if the promoted teams will be totally out of their depth or not?

I don't know enough about the promoted trio to make a statement but in the past few season's there has been a trend that promoted teams win games early regardless of who they are (burnley vs united anyone?)

I agree....there is a real lack of choices below 6m in mid this year compared to last year. Moses will start, plays high up and has a year's prem experience behind him. He's a good player playing for an unpredictable team. I see assists in that there Old Testament sounding player.

I can't see any better for 5m or below other than defensive mids and people like Ferguson who won't actually play.

right i've spent so long messing about finally sorted! will transfer enrique and moses for rafael/dyer if enrique to liv otherwise that's it!

    given kenny
    cole kompany jagielka r.johnson rafael
    lampard barton taarabt n'zog dyer
    rvp zamora holt

i'd love to downgrade cole to luis and lamps to malouda but just can't risk it! chelsea will score shedloads first few home games and therefore need some coverage going forward - lamps only certainty and let's not forget penalties.

lost on laST PAGE ---- BUT IS..

Bedknobs and boomsticks – Christina – Demi – RBJ (lol)- daniel/leinad and MMW still posting on this site – If so make yourself heard..

to be fair there are loads of other guys who were great closed season posters you i am missing a little bit…

some new posters have been ace too though like..

Food for thought here…. its great everyone posting – traffic for FFS is good – but rather than just post RMTs why dont people comment on other peoples RMTs and get discussions going (if you have one hold back for a few minutes, comment on other RMTs and share the love..
I often post possible teams/ post what i have settled for as a means of getting people involved – sharing views e.t.c..(like in the closed season)

IF people keep RMT-ing we will just end with a list of names with no real meaning

Back to being busy at work, so not on so much as I was when there was nothing to talk about.

The trouble is, that you can only say that Carroll is a better call than Suarez for the start of the season before you start to feel like you're harping on. So mush is subjective personal opinion it seems pointless to keep making the same sorts of comments to the same sorts of RMTs.

Please RMT. Thinking for the first 11 GW then Wildcard. Have put down my thinking to why I have ended up with this side.

    Rotating Given,Schwarzer: Will be Given/Begovic GW6

    Rotating Taylor,Gorkss: BOL,WIG,SUN,NEW,WBA,AVL,STK,BLA,wol,BOL

    Kompany: Rock at the back

    Rotating Johnson,Alcaraz:NOR,FUL,QPR,TOT,QPR,TOT,NEW,BOL,SWA,FUL,WIG

Silva: Favourite Prem Player. Citeh Cover

Lampard: Chelsea fixture cover and got a good feeling for fat Frank this season anyway.

N'Zogbia: Think enough has been said about him today

Moses: Risk but good fixtures with a lot of talent. Sub in the new Adam when he becomes apparent.

Dyer: I'm a forest fan so had to watch him take us apart in the play offs. Good player. Think he'll be better suited in the prem and can see him playing just off Graham if Rodgers signs Routledge.

RVP: must have from last seasons form.

Saurez: 9.5mil. Best price in the game in my mind

Hoilett: Was on my watchlist from last season. Nice enough opening three fixtures (WOL,avl,EVE) to see how he gets on.

Huth is a terrible waste of money for a sub, and is overpriced and has terrible fixtures. Downgrade him to someone like Bramble and you can afford Rooney

it would be good to have another drop down menu to show us what the bonus point allocation would have been last year if the PPI was used.

    A members article anyone?

      B

Lescott will play for the weeks until toure is out, and maybe still when Toure comes back. More chance of clean sheet with City than Fulham. Newcastle have alright fixtures after week 1, and Barton is most probably on pens and set pieces. Bent and N'zogbia is overkill imo. I'd rather spread the risk

    RMT Please:

    Bergovic/Al-Habsi
    Kompany/Samba/Kelly/Simpson/Whitbread
    VDV/Young/Nzog/Sinclair/Moses
    RVP/Suarez/Holt

Might change Kelly to Dawson. Also like the fact that I have 4 potential captain choices every week.

    Thoughts? Suggestions? Impprovements?

      -monitor Wigan GK situation
      -better 4.0 defenders than Whitbread
-too much competition for Young's spot (competing with Valencia/Nani)

Is it just me or are there a LOT of crap midfield's being suggested in the RMT's?

So many people gambling on newly promoted players/fairly recent signings such as Sinclair, Sessegnon, Tarrabt - fair enough choose one but no more than that?!?!

And Victor Moses??? I get that N'Zogbia is leaving but surely there's better options...maybe even avoid Wigan altogether.

I think the problem is budget. Can't fill every spot with the Lampards of this world. I don't think Sinclair, Tarrabt or Sessegnon are bad choices either due to their positioning in their respective teams and the fact that they are the focal point of those teams

Sinclair and Taarabt are the best performers and probably the cheapest set-piece takers.

indeed. I am lumping on them and holt and then willing to drop the non performer after a few weeks Guaranteed that at least 2/3 of these will have significant price rises in the first month

I can find more experienced/proven players at those prices yeah...I agree that they're good players but I think it's a huge risk filling your team with them.

So many people seem to be doing it

Who are you suggesting instead? Gerrard? Adam at £10mill? Darren bloody Fletcher?

Midfield is tough this season. Makes sense to have two heavyweights (VDV and Lamps, for instance) and three talented newcomers (Sinclair, Taarabt and Sessegnon, for instance).

        It's tough every season...it doesn't mean you can't have a balanced team.

        I just think it's a risk - that's all.

People are trying to find this year's Adam- Sinclair/Taarabt are the most likely.

I'll wait and see on them, but the other two you have mentioned (Sessegnon and Moses) have been in nearly every one of my drafts so far.
