I have been looking at the projections, early fixtures - basically doing everything bar creating a probability algorithm and I find myself with a spare mil. to spend - probably on defence with a view o minimise transfers.

defence - rock solid, but if Enrique doesn't make move to Liverpool I'm downgrading him to Orr and use the money to upgrade my midfield.
Midfield - Moses and Formica are punts but both on form in Pre Season. Downing looked very sharp in the last Pre Season game I saw him in and I think his position is pretty solid on the left. Silva is quality and is showing that in pre season.
Forwards - RVP - in my team until he gets injured. Drogba is a punt but I fancy him for first two(see comments after RMT in link for my reason)
subs are weak but I can easily play 4 or even 5 at the back if I'm stuck.
is starting bale and benayoun too much of a gamble?
I just don't see the appeal of expensive Bale or rotation risk Beny for a starting squad. You could be more conservative and still be able to bring in Beny for the soft fixture in GW 2&3.... Spose you could pun on Bale GW1 then bring in Beny???
It is a bit amazing that no one has mentioned PFA POTY Bale, if they sign a decent striker who can do something with his deliveries, he becomes more appealing.
He is appealing with good fixtures but VDV is the man at Spurs come rain or shine. Your point is very true though. Can you see Spurs landing a good target man this season though?
