The flat-track bully can be the scourge of Fantasy managers. A hat-trick at home followed by several blank Gameweeks and then, just as you lose patience and get-rid, along comes another huge goal return and the inevitable 3 Bonus Points.

Take, for example, Dimitar Berbatov. Transferred in by over 200K managers last season on the back of a three goal, 17 point Fantasy Premier League (FPL) haul at home to Liverpool in Gameweek five, the Bulgarian’s next seven appearances harvested just 19 points. By the time Berbatov ran out at Old Trafford at home to Blackburn in Gameweek fifteen, 379K managers had sold him since the match against Roy Hodgson’s side.

Much to the regret of his sellers, Berbatov, of course, then proceeded to hit five past Rovers, picking up 25 FPL points for a day’s work. The following game week? He was dropped.

By the season end, Berbatov had accumulated 176 FPL points, which offered up an average of 5.5 per game. That’s not a true reflection of his season, however; too many times the Bulgarian produced little to nothing in 2010/11, with 15 of his 21 FPL goals coming in just five games.

The question is, then, how often did he return this 5.5 average over the course of his 32 appearances for Man United?

Our aim is to look at the idea of Fantasy consistency- those players who week -in, week-out can be counted on to offer solid returns for your Fantasy team. We turn our attention to the top-scoring players in each classification to examine just how reliable some of them turned out to be in 2010/11. Up first in our analysis are goalkeepers.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

hello everyone, first time poster. i have been getting into fpl more seriously, and because of this have been looking at this site (which is great btw) and totalfpl. this site has great users and great info, and totalfpl does as well, but today, the admin "frank" has accused me of being someone he had been arguing with, and was basically releasing his frustrations on me even though i was a first time visitor. so for any who uses totalfpl, has this happened to anyone else. i myself will never go back, and will be a frequent ffs user. sorry about the rant, but long story short, hello and nice to meet you all.

Yes and no- if he plays behind the st yes, his late runs and greate timing to score deflected goals is unmatched. If he plays in front of the back 4 no as u would be conting on pens.

Another missed pen for Lampard today if he gets taken off them then his value lessens. I also think Malouda is more of a rotation risk than the majority of people seem to believe. Lampard will at least play every week.

Is Cleverley a chance for a start for MU this year? Seems to be getting a bit of game time in the preseason...

I don't think you really know what you're talking about there, Luke.

It is possible that Tom could start, but no body really knows, I would say all 4 of uniteds CMs have an equal chance of starting, and Fergie has said that Cleverley has a part to play this season.

          thanks Leysh,

yeah, I read something along those lines the other week, hence why I thought to ask...

Cleverley proved himself worth his salt last year with Wigan and surely it would have caught Fergie's eye... Still, with the all star line up that MU have it'd be hard to squeeze in. Great if he does though, sure to do alright when he is on the field.

I wouldn't say no chance. Regular starts? Nope, probably not. But he will get game time this season.

Not a good fantasy option though.

unlikely to get enough starts to make him worthwhile for FPL

Do you think he'd be a good choice for this year's FPL

This ^^, If he gets a move to another club he could be a good option depending on fixtures. He does tend to pick up yellow cards because he's a bit gangley.

How has Zamora been during the pre-season? Only thing i have heard so far is a broken hand so am doubting my selection at the moment.
