The Premier League earlier today confirmed the cancellation of Tottenham’s scheduled home game with Everton this Saturday. The club’s ticket office was damaged during days of civil unrest earlier in the week and with control of Tottenham High Road not due to be handed back to the local council from police until tomorrow, there is insufficient time to issue a safety certificate for the match.

Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore said earlier today:

The very latest situation is that Tottenham and Everton has gone. The police have done a fantastic job, but it’s been a crime scene all week and the council have not had enough time to do what they need. The other nine fixtures are looking positive, subject to any more trouble. At 6pm tonight we will have a very clear picture.

Tottenham elaborated further on the club website afterwards:

Following ongoing discussions with the necessary authorities regarding this weekend’s Premier League home match against Everton, it has now been confirmed that this fixture will be postponed due to safety concerns relating to infrastructure of the High Road and access to the stadium caused by last Saturday’s riots.

The scenario leaves Fantasy Managers with some re-thinking to do ahead of Saturday‘s deadline, then. At the moment, Leighton Baines and Phil Jagielka have a combined ownership of 470K Fantasy Premier League (FPL) for the visitors while a look at the home side shows Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and Rafael Van der Vaart have been selected by 350K, 198K and 141K Fantasy managers respectively.

Spurs’ opening game of the season is now a visit to Old Trafford and with a difficult home game with Man City in Gameweek 3, short-term investment in their players could drop as a consequence. Everton, on the other hand, open their campaign at Goodison Park against QPR before taking a trip to Blackburn.

The 6pm Premier League update will provide more clues. At present, the nine games look likely to go ahead, meaning there’s a Double Gameweek on the horizon for at least two teams before the season has even kicked-off.

I think Darren Bent will do well this season, but at 7.5 Nzogbia is an absolute steal and therefore Darren Bent is a little surplus to requirements!

Not in any way is Bent surplus to requirements he is consistently in the top few strikers in FPL

NZogbia just had ONE great season..thats all. I agree he is great value at 7.5 but so is Bent at 10.0

            That is my problem.

It is not a case of Bent not being worth it, rather a case that with Given and Nzogbia, whoa re both great value, 3 villa players is overboard.

Rafael is less likely to start than say Bosingwa

What is your plan for Keepers - rotation? I am not sure they rotate. Maybe you want to go with Al habsi Mignolet. Otherwise if you play Given all the time then downgrade Al habsi and improve Tiote to someone that can rotate with moses e.g Hoolahan. Also Luiz will NOT play for the first fixture

      1) If Enrique signs in time, will he play for Liverpool this weekend?

1)No he wont play is general consensus
2)Ivanovic has not played one game under AVB at RB he seems to be prefered as a CB so its pretty much certain Bos will start the season
3)Nothing new - he is trying to be back for the start but there are plenty of others available. Could be Carroll up top with Kuyt and Downing flanking
4)Ramsey imo - havent bought into the Sess oop preseason hype

      A) Carroll and Malouda

      B) Drogba and Nani

I really don't want Nani (horrible United prejudices, I'm trying to improve) but he was top scorer last season, seems in good form, and both he and Drogba have got to fight really hard for their places. Thoughts?

Torres will be out for about a week, Lukaku will get game time as well. I don't mean on Sunday, I mean for the next 10 games or so.

And Nani will be under pressure as well; any game he's not performing Sir ALex will throw on his best friend Giggsy or Park or Cleverley

True... I have short term vision only and think torres and valencia will be eased in. park could easily replace nani. as for cleverly and giggs they both play in the centre

          Suarez unlikely to start GW1,
not sure about Davies upfront either - although bolton has had a promising preseason
enrique might be in Liv this weekend and most prob wont play

May switch Suarez to Dzeko for this weekend so. Davies was a last minute decision but he does have FF pedigree and penos.
Chances are Enrique wont start alright so may swap him for another player.
            Cheers for the advice.

A few comments from Alan Pardews press conference this morning:

        - Ben Arfa out for another 5-6 weeks 🙁
        - 2 or 3 replacements lined up to replace Enrique, as well as another striker coming in.
        - Harper still Number 1 goalkeeper
        - Shane Ferguson will not be starting at LB against Arsenal
        - Barton is unlikely to be involved

Personally i think he'll be first choice by default, given Aurelio's constant injuries. However that's not to say he'll start in GW 1

I'm getting him in after they play Arsenal in week two i think. We should know more about the likely 1st choice defence. I'll also monitor if he's about to rise in price and take necessary action then.
