We’re almost there. After three months, countless RMT’s (That’s Rate-My-Team for our new readers), a whole host of injury scares and the regular gamut of transfer talk, the season is now just hours away.

This means just one thing- it’s time for a host of the Fantasy Football Scout team to start off one last debate by sticking our necks on the line with predictions for the year to come. As evidenced by last year, our choices can range from the sublime to the ridiculous – let’s see how the cards fall for 2011/12…

I, Andy, kick things off by singling out teams and players I am not perhaps known for endorsing. Towing the party line, then, I’ve done everything I can to make my predictions as impartial as possible. Not believe me? Look- no Fernando Torres…

As we saw in the final months of last season, Van Persie can score against anyone, at home or away. I'm guessing that's why.

Class act, Arsenal will score goals, they did without Fabregas last season. If VP is on the pitch almost every goal scored will be scored or assisted by him. Takes corners and pens and nailed on bonus.

    Jagielka Gabbidon Enrique Kompay Hughes
    Silva N'Zogbia Moses Ramsey Downing
    Carroll Zamora Bent

1.0 to spare though thinking of transferring silva to malouda gameweek 2. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

    Wow, what a boring article.

Just had a look at the Arsenal squad numbers for next season on their website.

Absolute dross. Officially in a much poorer state, squad wise, than the squad Wenger inherited. (Van Persie will head off next summer).

He's beginning to ruin Arsenal as a football club.

Should have been sacked 3 years ago and should be sacked immediately.

Nothing interesting about seeing the teams Man U, Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal umpteen times.

Superior being even put Chelsea to come 1st and 4th.

As for Declan, below asking who to replace Wenger with, it is that sort of comment that worries the hell out of me as an Arsenal fan and what Wenger must love. It isn't my job to find the replacement it is that of the board, but if I had to choose it has to be Mourinho, but he wouldn't come because of the state of the club that Wenger has allowed it to become.

I would also happily have George Graham back in charge, even after his stint down the road, such is my fury with the current clown.

Remember, we won numerous trophies before Wenger came, so don't fear his departure, embrace it as he lost the plot.

Anyone thinking WC for GW3? Reasons:

    1. International break, plenty of time for price rises.

    2. Lots of people still actively playing = more transfer activity, so more price changes.

    3. First elevens become more established, eg Arsenal, City.

    4. General patterns start to emerge – which are the strongest cheap defences, teams to avoid at all costs (eg Wigan last season – lots of people having to jump off the Figs, Nzog, Bosselli wagons)

    5. Transfer window closed.

    6. Some teams (eg Arsenal) fixtures improve.

    7. Possible DGW Spurs v Everton

Difficult to see it going any other way for me.

Previous years I've gone for a mid term team and WCed early anyway, this year I've decided to try doing a GW1-3 team and a planned WC. It may work it may not but I thought I'd give it a try for a laugh.

I've decided to go this route. I think this is either my fourth or fifth year and between GW's 6 & 7 (last year) is the furthest I've ever made it before using my WC, so I might as well just acknowledge that is probably going to happen again whatever team I set up. So might as well just set one up for the first three GW's alone.

9.50AM here in Boston MA, a nice day of work to tinker, a few drinks this evening, log on again at 11pm (4am to most of my fellow Europeans) to have a last gander, then go to sleep and wake up to FPL kick off.

Sweet dreams are made of this, enjoy.

Haha, Goose. I'm a Liverpool fan and Adam could do a fine job when Gerrard is out injured. It's still a bit early to say but Adam could prove to be a great player for us.

Yep, every time i see Enrique play im impressed. Hopefully his shift to a better team will see that rewarded in FPL terms.

He was sensational last year for me, I remember when United played Newcastle (can't remember whether home or away) and he had Nani in his little pocket.

I currently have him in my team but am for some reason not sure on him, I never fancy Liverpool for clean sheets, but that was the rock I perished on last season when they were cleaning up in that department. How is the team AB?

he's a bull. always felt sorry for him in newcastle's relegation season as you sensed there was something there but he had a horrific time with muscle injuries.
team is sorted now thanks, enrique is actually the one who has tainted it a bit by not being sure of playing in gw1. in an ideal world agger and dzeko would be enrique and suarez but can't risk both not playing

What would your all-time team be?

I don't know if I know enough players for different positions, but I'd like van noodles AND Terry Henry as my stikers, and Xavi alonso as the playmaker. Schmichael as the GK.
