We’re almost there. After three months, countless RMT’s (That’s Rate-My-Team for our new readers), a whole host of injury scares and the regular gamut of transfer talk, the season is now just hours away.

This means just one thing- it’s time for a host of the Fantasy Football Scout team to start off one last debate by sticking our necks on the line with predictions for the year to come. As evidenced by last year, our choices can range from the sublime to the ridiculous – let’s see how the cards fall for 2011/12…

I, Andy, kick things off by singling out teams and players I am not perhaps known for endorsing. Towing the party line, then, I’ve done everything I can to make my predictions as impartial as possible. Not believe me? Look- no Fernando Torres…

So there we have it, that’s how the Scouts see it; no need for any of this fantasy lark as we’re clearly going to be 100% correct. Remember this post at season’s end for all the good choices and forget it for those that end up down the garden path. Who are your choice picks for the 2011/12 season?

I'm not too sure, but I think the stat was about 4 goals in 5 games. Classed as a Midfield player though, so even if he starts upfront and has a greater chance of scoring he will get more points than a forward would anyway.
He should show his worth over Norwich, and he has been playing in the Championship past few seasons. Watch this space!

    Given (Ruddy)
    Kompany - Hughes - Gabbidon (Simpson,Bardsley)
Lampard - Silva - Moses - Taarabt (Dyer)
    Rooney - RVP - Holt

to many big hitters? Rooney,RVP & Lampard are all £12mil but then again when fit they will always plat all 3 are on pen's and all are good captain options, Holt & Taarabt also on Spotkicks and Moses/Silva are in cuz of there fixtures. Bardsley will become Enrique when he start playing,

I understand wanting Man U coverage and that Anderson is cheap but he played like 1500 minutes a few years ago and only returned 1 assist, IMO I dont see the value.

I'm 100% pro Ramsey, can't see him not doing some great things tomorrow if he plays like he did in pre-season.

and shedding Given gives me licence to get a Villa defender - e.g Warnock - more attacking than Fulham's Hughes.

Warnock seems to be the preferred:

            Young Collins Dunne Warnock

given prob gonna have a fosteresque season though.. i remember not jumping on that bandwagon and regretting all season.. dont want a repeat.. tempted to get cech + Warnock instead of given + A.cole and save 0.5

even though vorm/shwarzer rotation is great, given will surely make more scores because of his defenses no?

yes but the points in given won't be based on CS, but on defenses.like foster last year, and hart the year before...

Would appreciate some more thoughts on these long term options, I'm pretty stumped:

    A.)

    Given (Ruddy)

Kompany – Alex – Taylor (Gabbidon, Brown)

    Malouda – Nani – Silva – Moses – Taarabt

    Van Persie – Zamora (Holt)

    or B.)

    Given (Ruddy)

Baines (Lescott week one) – Warnock (then Enrique) – Taylor (Gabbidon, Brown)

    Lampard – Nani – Moses – Brunt – O’Hara

    Van Persie – Dzeko (Holt)

    ?

Still leaning towards B on account of the flexibility with Lamps and Baines, easier to change from them than to them.

Out of Malouda, Nani and Silva, i need to drop one for RVP. who would you go for?

Leaning toward Malouda as i already have A Cole. Hmm..

I dropped Silva. Reckon Malouda is the best midfielder to have in the game for opening weeks, and Nani's form is hard to ignore, plus he's far more explosive than Silva.

very similar to mine, i like the balance and how every big team has attacking coverage, only dodgy one is jags, you've got figs twice downgrade him to 4m def and do jags>kompany

    Given / Vorm
    Jose Enrique / Taylor S / Kompany / Vidic / Baines
    O'Hara / Ramsey / Moses / Sinclair / Taarabt
Holt / Van Persie / Rooney

    or

    Given / Vorm
    Jose Enrique / Taylor S / Kompany / Vidic / Baines
    O'Hara / N'Zogbia / Moses / Silva / Taarabt
    Holt / Hoilett / Suarez

So basically looking at Ramsey / Sinclair / RVP / Rooney verses N'Zogbia / Silva / Hoilett / Suarez
The second option also has 4 mil to spare, to either upgrade Hoilett or wait and see who's hitting form.

      Pick of the bunch!
I'd choose the ones who are regular starters/played most minutes last season. I'd say these would be the ones from QPR,Norwich,Swansea though. Best to do some research into last seasons championship and make a judgement there.
