We’re almost there. After three months, countless RMT’s (That’s Rate-My-Team for our new readers), a whole host of injury scares and the regular gamut of transfer talk, the season is now just hours away.

This means just one thing- it’s time for a host of the Fantasy Football Scout team to start off one last debate by sticking our necks on the line with predictions for the year to come. As evidenced by last year, our choices can range from the sublime to the ridiculous – let’s see how the cards fall for 2011/12…

I, Andy, kick things off by singling out teams and players I am not perhaps known for endorsing. Towing the party line, then, I’ve done everything I can to make my predictions as impartial as possible. Not believe me? Look- no Fernando Torres…

So there we have it, that’s how the Scouts see it; no need for any of this fantasy lark as we’re clearly going to be 100% correct. Remember this post at season’s end for all the good choices and forget it for those that end up down the garden path. Who are your choice picks for the 2011/12 season?

Here's an interesting one; would appreciate some views:

    a) Given, A Cole and a 4.5 (Bramble, Brown, whoever) i.e. the conventional wisdom,

    b) or Cech, Warnock, Enrique, i.e. for the same price cover Chelsea, Villa and Liverpool defences.

I'm fascinated with Cech. Such consistent returns, every year. I think sacrificing a high-priced defender might be worth it to get him in, but is Warnock the one you want? Attacking potential there, but will he play enough?

That's the problem with Chelsea - nobody knows who is going to start. I think RVP is an absolute must-have whilst fit (I'm an Arsenal fan so perhaps biased). I'd like to save 0.5m somewhere to do Nani -> Malouda in GW2. Perhaps Hughes -> Senderos/Bramble/Brown?

    Given (Ruddy)
    Cashley, Kompany, Orr (Simpson, Bramble)
    Silva, Downing, Moses, O'Hara (Sessegnon)
    RVP (vc), Rooney (c), Holt

I'm thinking about Rooney -> Bent and maybe Downing -> Malouda after gw1, but fear that prices will go up. Any thoughts? Cheers!
