It was meant to be a comfortable home win, an opening day Anfield stroll against Sunderland. With Luis Suarez passed fit to play and the £50m midfield trio of Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson all making their Premier League bows for Liverpool, surely Kenny Dalglish’s side would pick up the three points and start the season with a bang?

Suarez opened the scoring- a twelfth minute header made amends for an earlier missed penalty- and had Fantasy managers ruing the decision to plump for the safety of Andy Carroll, in light of the Uruguayan’s recent three week break.

The first forty-five saw Liverpool dominant- Andy Carroll had a goal disallowed and Downing hit the bar as the Reds threatened to put the match beyond their visitors’ reach. For those of us with investment in Liverpool’s players, the second half looked promising..

Steve Bruce, however, had other ideas. Ten new signings over the close season suggests this is a side in transition but Sunderland showed a real battling quality that holds promise for the campaign ahead. A stunner from Seb Larsson -snapped up on a free transfer from Birmingham- stole the show after the interval as the Black Cats went toe to toe with their big-spending hosts and took home a well-deserved draw.

While Liverpool travel to the Emirates in Gameweek 2, Sunderland face a showdown with Newcastle at the Stadium of Light. If the Black Cats can replicate this type of determined performance in the Tyne-Wear derby, Alan Pardew may have more than just twitter accounts to keep him awake over the upcoming days.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Morning all. I'm quite happy with 26 points and Malouda/Rooney/Silva still to go. I had Carroll (c) which didn't work out but hey ho. I felt for those of you who weren't able to log in and finalise your teams yesterday. Anyhow, as a few have already said on here its a marathon not a sprint. I liked the look of Sessegnon yesterday, I thought he played well. Early thoughts are Taarabt > Sess for next week.

Possibly, on the back of that performance and with a home tie with Newcastle and Swansea away the week after, I think he'll be on people's radars. From all the RMT's I've seen on here recently a lot of people including myself have Taarabt, and QPR were just awful yesterday. I think they have Everton away next and I cant see them getting much at Goodison. As it stands it seems a no brainer straight swap to me.

That's my fault, it starts with the wrong gameweek on the non-member's ticker. I'll have it fixed within the next couple of days (normally I'd do it faster but my little girl isn't well so I can't do it today)

Only at midnight, and only 0.1 at a time.

Usually the net transfers in need to be around 25000 for a price rise.

Also, I think once the yellow flag is removed from Suarez, his price will be protected. Can someone correct me if Im talking bollocks?

He's a little way off the price rise yet.

The problem isn't so much Suarez been a great player but also gervinho getting banned for 3 games and classed as a striker int he game. Everyone's selling him and buying Suarez. As not too many people owned gervinho, then I hope the Suarez bandwagaon will tail off soon!

It would be helpful if we could have The Scout's view of what he/they understand we should expect from the FPL site; assuming they are able to get it performing as originally envisaged.

So far we've not really had anything from the FSS team, which has only served to fuel the ire to unprecedented heights.

So come on guys, you're aware of all that's been going on. What have you got to say about it all?

I actually played Etherington over Benayoun--I feel that Benayoun will struggle against the physical Stoke players..Etherington is Stoke's numero uno set piece taker and with Chelsea losing Luiz and Iva they look less soild at the back-so just feel someone will be at the end of Etherington's cross.Don't think Stoke will win though.

Yeah, my bench has been kind so far, hopefully Nathan Dyer won't score a hat-trick against City. Think that's unlikely...

I was similarly lucky, had Robinson in for Given, got 6 points courtesy of a penalty save.

If Benayoun racks up the points today, it could be worse for you...I imagine most people you're competing against won't have him, and he's not exactly expensive, so it's not dead money on t'bench

        Positive mental attitude.

It's hard to say with the new flag system taking a direct feed from FFS. It means flags can come and go more quickly and the new varieties of flag could mix it up too. Do you protect someone who is 75% likely to play with a minor doubt the same as someone who is very unlikely 25%?

It takes a while to work out the new workings I hope FISO are busy investigating.

Well, players arent protected while they're flagged, they are protected when the flag is removed.

So I would imagine that as long as there is a doubt and the flag is yellow, then the player is protected when the yellow flag is removed.

At least Im hoping this is the case, so that I can delay getting Suarez until week 3...

If we only had one wild card I would advise extra caution and not panic/make massive transfers. save it for mid season.

But with 2, imo the best strategy (unless you still love your team after gw1 is to use it immediately to take advantage of price rises and all the little bits of info that only reveal themselves after a round of matches has been played. If you can make the proper adjustments and only suffer a 4 point hit I would do that instead. 8 and above, WC. waiting around for the 3rd gameweek or 4th or 2nd, will makes some transfers more difficult because of those nasty .1 ups and downs...
