Let’s not dilly-dally shall we. The Scout chatroom has opened for the dawn of a new Fantasy Football season with the The Saturday Surgery here for the last-gasp panic.

There will undoubtedly be even more panic than normal on what is arguably the busiest, and most fraught, period of the whole season.

We’ve opened three rooms in anticipation of a potential abundance of users, we encourage you to spread about and help those as they help you with your last minute quandary.

The first Saturday Surgery of the season is open.

Apart from the absurd FFS-bashing this morning, there have been a few people on here gloating that FPL managers should have finalised their teams yesterday or stayed logged in all night.

Fair enough, but for anyone who has to work long hours every day during the week, or has family commitments, Saturday morning is the first chance you get to analyse the form, see who is likely to play and catch up with late injuries and transfers.

It doesn't mean that FPL managers like that - and many people in my league fall into that category, including me - don't take FPL seriously. I fear that many of them will get marginalised if this server failure continues.

What the FPL should have focused on was not updating the website's interface, it was ensuring the login server was big enough to handle mass traffic. This has contractly compromised there sponsorship advertisements.

Trending on Twitter at #5 for all the wrong reasons...

Surely they should have introduced an app for smartphones which the majority of us would have bought making them a nice little earner, this would have taken soo much traffic away from the direct internet login page. Where the hell is an app for this game? in this day and age I have to refresh from 500 and 504s....shame.

Extend the deadline till 1.30pm please FP!

Its sad that the FPL this year has not started on a level playing field.

Without a long summer of no footy, the banter as work this week has been superb in the run up to FPL.

Now i'm hearing no one can be bothered.

Its alright saying people should have picked their teams days ago but with the amount of injuries, the transfer window open and the riots affecting matches, many managers would have banked on picking their final starting eleven this morning.

FPL broke a perfectly good website with a slower design built on inadequate systems that can't hand the amount of traffic it should have expected on kick off day.

How to take the FPL from hero to zero in one day.. Genius !

    4 weeks ago half the injured players were playing. 4 weeks ago the Spurs game was on. 4 weeks ago the were premiership players still in the premiership.
    
    I take is you base your "most people could not log in either" comment on some analytics system you keep to yourself.
    
    Level playing field - Meaning: Fair competition, where no advantage is shown to either side.

This is no longer a question of when they get it sorted: it's too late anyway to make any updates and I can't see them extending the deadline.

The question now is whether they'll decide to take any action to level the playing field for those who missed out.

The meaningful option I can think of in that regard is to cancel all GW1 points. I can't see them doing that though - it would just create a whole different load of angry FPLers. Realistically, I expect them to carry on as if nothing has happened.

My team was sorted yesterday afternoon so it some respects it's not a huge issue, but one of my two usual rivals in my mini-league has missed out and this whole debacle could take all the fun out of that rivalry.

Disappointing.

  What do you mean 'level the playing field'? It is level - those that did the sensible thing of setting down a team ahead of time, to be tweaked closer to the deadline are fine - those that left it right up until the last moment to do anything are having issues. It's completely level as it is - the only difference is user behaviour.
  
  If it was arbitrarily not letting some people edit their teams for weeks on end then you'd have a point.
