Blackburn fail in Raul swoop. Sneijder to United seems less likely. Arteta’s back on the radar for the QPR game after playing in Everton friendly. Chelsea are not giving up on Modric and Samir Nasri denies Facebook comments and insists the account is a fake. Here’s this morning’s Scribbles, folks:

Man United’s attempts to sign Wesley Sneijder look to be scuppered. Inter Milan president Masimo Moratti has indicated the Dutchman is likely to remain at the San Siro now, with Samuel Eto’o on the verge of leaving the Italian giants. Moratti told La Gazzetta del Sport:

Sneijder away? For Wes there has never been any sort of negotiation. If Eto’o leaves, he remains. Sneijder was untouchable even before this hypothesis, now it is even more so. Sneijder will remain.

If this is the case, United youngster Tom Cleverley could be set to play a more prominent part in the club’s season than previously anticipated. Cleverley has already impressed this season, with his second half performance in the Community Shield resulting in a start at the expense of Ryan Giggs in last week’s opener at West Brom.

Samir Nasri is the latest player to be caught in a social network controversy. Nasri has moved to distance himself from a Facebook account that claimed he would be leaving Arsenal with “bitterness and anger”. The Frenchman used his official Twitter page to deny the claims this morning , assuring Gunners fans the account is a fake. The player didn’t take too kindly to chants from the club’s fans at the Newcastle game on Saturday and is surely now edging that little bit closer to the rumoured move to Man City.

Martin Jol is in the market for another striker. Fulham’s no score draw in Gameweek 1 has Jol eyeing up former club Ajax for more firepower, with a move for out-of-favour Mounir El Hamdaoui on the cards. Jol had previously signed the player during his stint at the Dutch giants and admitted he’s weighing up a move for the twenty-seven year-old:

It’s not unthinkable for me to sign Mounir. He is incredibly honest and amazingly direct. He could be a pleasant surprise.

The agent of Niko Krancjar has suggested his client is on the verge of a move to Sunderland. In spite of acquiring ten players this summer, Steve Bruce still feels changes need be made to the Black Cats squad and Krancjar would definitely add a touch of class to his current crop of players.

Still on the subject of Spurs and midfielders, free agent Thomas Hitzlsperger has been training with Harry Redknapp’s side and a possible move to White Hart Lane may well be on the cards for the German international.

Edin Dzeko reckons he’s in for a big season. The Bosnian played well as a lone front man then as part of a pairing at the Etihad Stadium on Monday night, though his performance was somewhat put in the shade by a certain Sergio Aguero. Dzeko praised Aguero before going on to say:

The beginnings have always been slow for me, and that was the case at City, but this year I feel fit and I feel very good. I feel much better than last season. For every player it is important to be fit and have a good pre-season behind him. This summer I have done everything with the team and that makes you feel better.I want to improve in every game, but I have started the season well.

Everton’s delayed start to the season has given Mikel Arteta the chance to recover from a foot injury. The playmaker returned to action in a friendly against Irish side Bohemians earlier in the week and with David Moyes’ side facing QPR this weekend, should find himself the subject of Fantasy investment. Arteta declared after the game:

I’ve been working really hard in the last 10 days and we’ll see how I do in the game against QPR. I will tell you how far I am off full fitness after the game on Saturday.

Blackburn have failed in an audacious swoop for legendary striker Raul. The Ewood Park outfit slapped in a bid for the Schalke star’s services, but Raul -a close friend of Rovers right-back Michel Salgado- is said to have rejected the offer out of hand and asked his club to turn down any offers from Steve Kean’s side.

Kieran Gibbs and Johan Djourou added to Arsene Wenger’s woes last night. The pair limped out of the Gunners nervy 1-0 win over Udinese and the club announced on their official website after the match that they are likely to miss this weekend’s Emirates clash with Liverpool.

Chelsea’s pursuit of Luka Modric shows no sign of abating. With last season’s runners-up unwilling to spend any more than £30m, they are considering offering both Yossi Benayoun and Salomon Kalou as part of the deal that would bring the little Croatian to Stamford Bridge. With a 25 man squad to be submitted to the Premier League next month, this would also free up a space in Andre Villas-Boas’ thinking and may prove to be the better option.

Obertan, Tchoyi, Lucas, Cleverley, Hoolahan – which is the best 5.5ish player out there for next few-5 fixtures? Is Obertan a potential?

In the interest of comedy, have you seen Boltons upcoming 7 fixtures?? It couldnt be worse for them could it? At least they have a win under their belts!

From that lot, I'd steer well clear of Lucas (not an attacking player) and Cleverley (likely to be overshadowed points-wise by those around him). The rest is a judgement call

Tchoyi will play until either Gera or Odemwingie start but will then be a rotation risk.
      Hoolahan is nailed on.
Cleverley a good punt but rotation risk.
Lucas – defensive mid – might get bonus if you’re very lucky…
Obertan – Newcastles fixtures are decent but he’s a wild punt.

I'm tempted to bring in Kalou, given his decent ICT on the weekend, Chelsea's fixtures and his relatively low cost. However, I am concerned that Anelka or Drogba will get the nod at his expense so it's probably not worth the risk. Thoughts?

The blinder by Aguero has completely bungled my team. I just don’t know what to do about him right now, or Silva for that matter. He still probably won’t start. Balo is on the bench, surely he will play and Tevez as well? Looks like he’ll play as well now as he might stay. Tough to avoid the top transfered in player…

My policy with Aguero is, wait and see. Sure he's quality and will score well, but there are doubts about starting next week, so he might come on for the last 25 minutes and do nothing. If he does start, you can at that point easily bring him in, having only missed one gameweek.

If you miss all that doesn't that mean that most people who will transfer him in will have already done so before his rise - so its not until the next batch of people after the gameweek get him in, which you would presumably be a part of if you wait and see.

Read on the fantasy premier league website that all transfers will be wiped clean after GW2, which suggests to me that price rises for guys like Aguero will only occur with the next batch of people who transfer them in after GW2, so essentially they are set back to 0.0%

But on refection I decided it's the ideal opportunity to play Torres against West Brom instead if he does well I will keep him in for the Norwich game and if he falls flat I will bring Aguero for Wigan gw4. Looks strong all over to be fair. The only change i'd make is to downgrade Tarrabt to get a better midfielder in place of sinclair.

Afternoon fellas, would love soem thought son

    A. Terry + Kompany
    vs
    B. Ivanovic + Lescott

Obviously A is more nailed on but lacks the goal threat and potential big hauls of B.

My head says A but the I'm tempted by the big points B could get...

Those are some SERIOUS wage demands for a player of his quality.

Tottenham should take warning to the fact that he was deemed problematic/failed to perform enough at both Arsenal and Man City - the clubs they are trying to catch.

    Yaya Toure/Tiote/N'Zogbia/Ramsey/Moses

Swap out Suarez for Saha and then remove N'Zogbia and slot in Nani

Leave Nzoggers in. I will downgrade yaya and do huth-->Baines.

Ramsey I don't like. What about Hoolahan for 1m cheaper? But hey, I'm looking short term and towards gw 4 where i would want Kun / RVP as my city/Ars cover and not yaya/ramsey.

    Tim Cahill or Downing?

Cahill I think he is the better option on the goal scoring front as he plays up front.

Maybe get him for this weekend against QPR an if you don't see much from him get Downing in the week after plus you get .5m.

      Cheers.
Some of the attached *footballistic* logic will keep us amused...

"Gabby Agbonlahor’s brilliant 12 dribbles earned the Villa man 1 bonus point"... not that brilliant (0-0)... and when compared to the strikers receiving more BPs for (apparently) c.2-3 shots... sort of what they are there for isn't it??

    Hi Guys,

There has been a lot of talk about Bosingwa. In your opinion is he a temporary fix, or will he play a lot of games.

The reason I ask is because I want a Chelsea defender, but I’m running out of cash (aren’t we all)

If he is a temp fix, who in your opinion would be the cheapest safe defender to start for Chelsea?

    All the best

You might get another GW or two out of Bosingwa before rotation kicks in. Could be worth it and then bring in Jags for the same price. It's an option I'm considering

I'm tempted by Torres due to his fixtures, but I'm not convinced he'll start them all and I can't justify 11m on the bench. Therefore thinking Rooney, but he has poor figures. Aguero again uncertain to start and Suarez but again poor figures. Is it possible to score well this season with no big hitters up front and rely on the likes of Bent & Saha with good fixtures (if Saha says fit) and invest more in defence and midfield?

Having said that I see value in the midfield this season! It's a tricky one, anyone out there with only 1 big hitter or even none at all.

Just looking at the way the Bonus Points went (even on what was a low scoring GW) it looks like good strikers will get the points. Rooney, Suarez & Aguero all got 3 baps (even Andy Johnson who didnt even score got 3)

So I'm looking to go heavy on my attackers and play 3 upfront every week

Rooney has 2 home games and I honestly can't see ManU not scoring in both and that means Rooney is prob involved.

Not much to say to be honest as its strong all over to be fair.

If it was my team I personally wouldn't have 6m sitting on my bench, I'd downgrade Brunt and maybe upgrade your midfield.

Also if you noticed the bonus points last week alot of the 3's went to striker's even on a low scoring week. So maybe play 3 up front? Means downgradin Cole maybe.
