Roberto Mancini’s riches are already begin to trouble us Fantasy Managers. Today’s victory at the Reebok may have added further evidence to suggest that they are a team filled with Fantasy talent, but it’s also clear that our quest for secure sources of Fantasy points looks a tough one.

David Silva’s opening goal, although exposing Jussi Jaaskelainen, reinforced the argument that the Spaniard could emerge as the standout midfield option this term. Once again he was City’s creative spark, feeding off the industry of Gareth Barry, James Milner and Yaya Toure in the engine room. Silva looks nailed-on for starts – the likely protagonist in City’s title tilt, but he also looks the exception in Mancini’s impressive armoury.

Toure will get starts but the role handed to him is a concern. So impressive when pushed forward to exert pressure on the Swansea defence on Monday, today, with Nigel De Jong nursing a foot injury, Mancini shackled Toure in a holding midfield role. He obliged with a disciplined showing that proved fruitless for us Fantasy managers. The ease at which Toure adapts to this role is a worry – particularly when City come up against more testing opposition when Mancini will be tempted to temper the Ivorian’s attacking instincts, hindering his potential.

Similar the sight of Carlos Tevez on the City bench, apparently content to extend his residence in Mancini’s squad, will be a concern for those who were seduced by the brilliance of Segio Aguero in Monday night’s game. City’s new Argentinian had ample opportunities to add to his tally but ultimately drew a frustrating blank. Inevitably, Tevez replaced him with over 20 minutes remaining – you could taste the disappointment amongst the Fantasy fraternity. In a brief appearance, Tevez also showed an appetite to be part of things – that has to be a worry.

With such an option on the sidelines, we can only anticipate that Aguero will always be vulnerable – perhaps not for starts, but certainly to having his pitch time cut by the introduction of his compatriot. Can Fantasy managers be content with that prospect week in week out?

Edin Dzeko’s start to the season doesn’t help matters– while plenty will be contemplating Fantasy investment in a striker who has notched 2 goals and put in a pair of impressive displays, there will always be concern that Mancini will shift to a 4-5-1 with Adam Johnson or even Mario Balotelli given run-outs on the flank.

For now Dzeko is picking himself by Mancini’s approach to the teamsheet is fickle and it can afford to be. City appear to have an appetite for goals and an array of providers queuing up to impress. Great for the Italian boss and City’s ambitions – potentially frustrating for Fantasy managers looking to capitalise. At least there is a Silva lining.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

still trying to get over taking Silva and Malouda out this week, as well as deciding against Boswinga last minute in favour of Baines after all advice on here. Hey-ho.

Weirdly i'm most worried about Jamie O'Hara. 2 good Wolves wins and not a jot from O'Hara. Does anyone know how he's been playing? Thinking of him -> Brunt this week for WBA fixtures?

I ignored the Baines train!! He's just too rich for me.

I did however get rid of Malouda and got Lampard....the assist softened the blow.

I had Vorm and Simpson on the bench! Around 50 points for the week and Rooney to play!

i think baines can be easily compensated by defenders like enrique bos and kompany. good defenders v good teams very reasonable prices. plus the inevitable 2 4.0 bench warmers

Why is Fiso and Total Fpl's rises/falls so different in player pricing?
There is alot of talk of Torres' price dropping by 0.2m but he's not even on Fiso's list of price drops?

Sorry if I'm being really thick here, but what's Fiso?

I'm defintely taking Torres out & luckily I've saved 1mil in the bank to exchange him for Rooney. But I'd like to wait after tonights game - he shouldn't drop in price by tonight should he?!?

Fiso.co.uk is a fantasy football site that measures trades in/trades out for all the players. It's under "Crack the Code" or you can find the link at the top of the FFS homepage where it says "links".
I've always used it and have only just been introduced to the Total FPL website.
Planning my team around price increases has worked well for me in the past, gives a good indication of the players form and allows you to upgrade to better players throughout the season.

Yeh same here, got to be savy in the player price market. It's a good reason to jump on band wagons sometimes, purely for the price rise.

He's pretty involved in all aspects of play, I'd say he's integral to a lot of play being created from the back. I'm gambling on him playing 30plus this season unless "Mankini" brings someone else in.

Too soon to tell. Things will change once European matches hit rotation will take its toll.

I guess Mancini will give Richards a game off every now and then but Richards should play most of the games. He's a big lad with the arguably best stamina in the PL anyway.

I try not to sweat it, by week 10 this will all be (hopefully) a distant memory, and we'll find that the few people still b**chin and moaning, are generally the WUMs and the original over-the-top riot ignitors. I had 19 last GW before Dzeko, Silva(c) and Richards helped me out. Of course I didn't leave well enough alone and this week I'm on 32 points (no Silva--Yaya, no Dzeko--Aguero) with Welbeck (yeah don't laugh) and Fabio tonight.

    So bloody hard this season.

    This week 28 points
    with
    Given (Ruddy)
    Baines Boswinga Kompany (Brown Simpson)
    Sessengon Sinclair NZog Silva (Moses)
    Rooney Holt Torres(C)

Cant see how to improve for this coming gw...Any ideas? I will miss price risers in Suarez and Taylor too. How annoying

I'd give Torres a week and if he doesn't perform, replace him with Suarez.

Here is the thing. I refuse to transfer in Torres and I feel Lamps is just too expensive to own. Is Malouda even a solid option anymore under AVB? I feel like not owning any Chelsea mids/forwards until they get sorted, yet I know they will put 3 or 4 past Norwich this week...

I'd go without. They really should be playing with Drogba, but I can understand AVB is looking to a future without him.

Drogba didn't make much of difference when he came on for Torres in both matches, did he?

The problem with Chelsea is their formation and forwards runs (or the lack of them). Not much has changed since their last season. AVB was hired to give Chelsea a new 'brand' of football but apparently he has yet managed to deliver.

Drogba is proven in that system, plus he's a beast of a player on his day.

New 'brand'? Where are you getting that from? He was brought in as he's young, enthusiastic and talented and we need someone like that to help get us through our transition, player-wise. Lukaku was bought and he is tailor-made for our 'brand' of football, so no, it's not about an overhaul of our style of play, just improvements and corrections to make it better. 2 games in and you question him? Just seems very very quick to judge imo. And Drogba didn't look bad, he holds the ball up better than anyone in the world and brings others into play,`Bosingwa's cross would have been cut out if he didn't draw a defender out by moving away from goal. We need more width and a midfield player but talk of a lack of creativity is bollox, we have a lot of very creative players, Essien is one of the best players in the world in his position and starts countless attacks for us, Lampard, Bosingwa, Malouda, they are all creative, whether its creating things for themselves or the team. If nothing has changed since our last season we should win the league shouldn't we? We were winning it when our players were fit, our poor spell came when we got several injuries and then when they were fit again we were winning our games, we trailed off at the end when we realised we couldn't win the league but still achived a top four finish comfortably. Now that we have fit players barring Essien we should win, is that what you are saying? One goal-less game away at Stoke who parked the airbus and a 2-1 win over a very good West Brom team after we made a defensive error to go 1-0 down and you discount AVB already? Wait and see what happens, if you had said that 4 months from now it would be reasonable but saying it now is just stupid.

I'm not discounting AVB at all. It would be unfair to judge what he can do within 2 games. In fact, I have a very high expectation of him and his attacking football style. In order to improve a team without not many signings is a big challenge. AVB has not been with Chelsea for long so I do not expect a complete make-over of the Chelsea side.

Chelsea and their fans might not expect AVB to deliver a new 'brand' of football but I really think AVB will bring something fresh and attractive to Chelsea. Now Mata has signed for you as well, things could look upwards.

My debate with Granville was whether Torres or Drogba should start. I stick with my point where by starting Torres, Chelsea could gain a lot once he's back to the monster he's used to be.

After malaria hit he's no longer the beast he's used to be. Now he's just a friendly guy who shakes hands and hugs most/all of his African BFFs in the PL. Another thing to consider he's already 33 year old and likely past his best.

Torres, eventhough has been sh*te last season, has shown some sparkle. I'd give him more chance to recover rather than relying on Drogba.

Lamps is safest pick... add Sturridge & Mata to the mix (Anelka, Kalou, Malouda, Torres, Drogs) and there is not much of a guaranteed starter at this stage.

Mate I am going through the exact same dilemma...took Malouda out and put Lampard in, searching for the right Chelsea coverage. Sticking with Lampard for this GW and then whatever happens he's out!

      I am not touching Torres!

Wait until transfer window closes or until the last minute this week - this Dutch boy - I forget his name off hand - sounds like he's on his way to St James... they'de be better off buying more mid field and Attack player tbh - their Defence looks great and I'd love to see RT play all season.

    Team for this week

    Given
    Enrique-Smalling-Simpson
    Moses-Silva-Nzogbia-Sinclair
    Bent-Suarez(C)-Rooney

    Subs Ruddy Jagielka-Brown-Hoolahan

Already traded out Torres for Suarez, so barring injuries leaving it as is.

    Thoughts?

Man Utd will probably concede, Suarez could be rested, Sinclair, Moses and N'Zogbia won't be consistent and Given won't keep a clean sheet against Wolves. Kenny said he made a mistake with bringing in Suarez so soon so I think he may come on as a late sub against Bolton. Other than that, good team. Surprised you haven't gone for Bosingwa though, I've been praising him and telling people that he's our RB, not Ivanovic but they dont listen then he plays well and they jump on the bandwagon. :/
