Roberto Mancini’s riches are already begin to trouble us Fantasy Managers. Today’s victory at the Reebok may have added further evidence to suggest that they are a team filled with Fantasy talent, but it’s also clear that our quest for secure sources of Fantasy points looks a tough one.

David Silva’s opening goal, although exposing Jussi Jaaskelainen, reinforced the argument that the Spaniard could emerge as the standout midfield option this term. Once again he was City’s creative spark, feeding off the industry of Gareth Barry, James Milner and Yaya Toure in the engine room. Silva looks nailed-on for starts – the likely protagonist in City’s title tilt, but he also looks the exception in Mancini’s impressive armoury.

Toure will get starts but the role handed to him is a concern. So impressive when pushed forward to exert pressure on the Swansea defence on Monday, today, with Nigel De Jong nursing a foot injury, Mancini shackled Toure in a holding midfield role. He obliged with a disciplined showing that proved fruitless for us Fantasy managers. The ease at which Toure adapts to this role is a worry – particularly when City come up against more testing opposition when Mancini will be tempted to temper the Ivorian’s attacking instincts, hindering his potential.

Similar the sight of Carlos Tevez on the City bench, apparently content to extend his residence in Mancini’s squad, will be a concern for those who were seduced by the brilliance of Segio Aguero in Monday night’s game. City’s new Argentinian had ample opportunities to add to his tally but ultimately drew a frustrating blank. Inevitably, Tevez replaced him with over 20 minutes remaining – you could taste the disappointment amongst the Fantasy fraternity. In a brief appearance, Tevez also showed an appetite to be part of things – that has to be a worry.

With such an option on the sidelines, we can only anticipate that Aguero will always be vulnerable – perhaps not for starts, but certainly to having his pitch time cut by the introduction of his compatriot. Can Fantasy managers be content with that prospect week in week out?

Edin Dzeko’s start to the season doesn’t help matters– while plenty will be contemplating Fantasy investment in a striker who has notched 2 goals and put in a pair of impressive displays, there will always be concern that Mancini will shift to a 4-5-1 with Adam Johnson or even Mario Balotelli given run-outs on the flank.

For now Dzeko is picking himself by Mancini’s approach to the teamsheet is fickle and it can afford to be. City appear to have an appetite for goals and an array of providers queuing up to impress. Great for the Italian boss and City’s ambitions – potentially frustrating for Fantasy managers looking to capitalise. At least there is a Silva lining.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

To all the people transferring out Torres, I am presuming you overreact to every performance/result, if Rooney scores a hat-trick tomorrow will you use another transfer to get him?

It's just the fact that he's scored one goal for them in the premier league in so many games. He didn't look too bad yesterday. He seems to be getting more physical and made a couple of decent interceptions. It's just a pity that it was him who was subbed and not Anelka.

    I've made up my mind.

Dropping Torres and getting Suarez. If Suarez scores a few, I will be so far behind as he has 41% ownership.

I'll just have A Cole as Chelsea cover, but based on their performance against West Brom that isn't a horrible idea.

Possibly been discussed but if it appears City are more of an attacking team this season, is Kompany that much of a bargain, I know it's early etc. But if their going for goals then they be prone to concede more.

I've gone with brunt, but only because my front 3 are Bent, Suarez, Torres.

I'm tempted to ask if anyone could rise twice during my wild card this week. But since that's a question that only impatient geeks ask I shall refrain. (I'd still quite like to know though...)

you can rise more than once in a week, but each time you rise 0.1, you need twice the number of transfers as before to get another rise

I am considering WC too Retro, I always hold off because I like the sense of security it gives me, but I really feel like I have none of the buzz players and now is the time to make some cash. VDV rose .3 last year in one week, have never seen a .4 in 5 years playing.

I've used WCs during international breaks before, in order to play the market and raise cash. Most I've ever made personally was 0.5M, and that was during two week's transfer activity rather than the one you're looking at now.

Still, have a read around. It's a strategy that plenty will tell you can work - if in fact that's what you're wondering about!

    GW4 wildcard on its way.

Made an early wildcard last season and it did me fine. Helped me catch all of Carroll, Nani, Adam, VdV etc early.

Problem is, there doesn't seem to be any dead certs at this stage that I should chase. I just know that with Young and Moses injured and chasing Hilario have left me in a bad state coming.

This H2H league malarky is really starting to wind me up with FPL. How bloody hard is it to show who I'm playing against. Every time I go back to the website it's with the enjoyment of old, only to realise pretty quickly that the whole website is still a complete pile of utter useless shite.

Baines, Tarrabt, N'Zogbia, Sessegnon, Malouda, Moses, Torres, Holt... really need these players to start getting their finger out or it's gonna be my worst start EVER!!!! Surely I can't use my wildcard this early!?!?

torres ownership is dropping like a rock. he will drop at least .1 at some point this week, and for good reason. he looks like crap, always loses the ball, no opportuinities, etc. if chelsea kill norwich torres will be lucky to get an assist. the absolute worst buy, cannot understand what abramovich (or I) saw in a striker so far off his form. stop trying to kid yourself, the only way torres would bouce back from his price drop is if he scores a hattrick... I honestly can't think of a player getting a harrick that would be more unexpected than one from torres

He became a shadow of his former self when he got a haircut. Now that Torres has his hair long again, he's going to start scoring goals again. Simple.

Mata to Chelsea, presume this is very bad news for Malouda? Anelka/Malouda/Drogba/Torres/Kalou all fighting for the top 3, and if Modric signs?

I will keep Torres and Carroll this week, Carroll in particular doesn't become a bad fantasy player in 2 weeks, terrible week for me, but it is week 2, a long long way to go yet.

Even less spcae in Chelsea's front three. I can see rotation being the key feature - which is never good news for fantasy. Might make Lampard the only reasonable option 😯
