Arsenal give their boss something to smile about with a gritty win in Udinese. Blackburn and Everton grab their first victories of the season in the Carling Cup. Luis Suarez takes Exeter apart to earn Kenny Dalglish his two hundredth win as Liverpool boss. Tuncay sparkles on his Bolton debut with a goal and an assist. Daniel Levy tells Chelsea to drop their interest in Luka Modric yet again while Joey Barton tweets as he prepares to join QPR. Here’s this morning’s Scribbles, folks:

Everton made amends for their poor start to the season with a 3-1 win over Sheffield United. The Toffees bounced back from last weekend’s 1-0 home loss to QPR, with youngster Ross Barkley again a stand-out. Mikel Arteta and Marouane Felliani both completed the ninety minutes and Louis Saha had a half hour cameo ahead of the trip to Blackburn.

Kenny Dalglish’s starting XI saw Luis Suarez selected for the trip to Exeter City. The Uruguayan again showed his class, scored one and assisting two in the 3-1 win. The Liverpool boss saw Raul Meireles leave the proceedings early on and confirmed after the game the midfielder will be out for a “few weeks” after injuring his collarbone.

Steve Kean picked up his first win of the season as Blackburn beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-1 at Ewood Park. Rovers got off to a flier, scoring three goals in the first seven minutes and significantly for Kean, it was two of his signings that grabbed all the goals- the former Barcelona midfielder Ruben Rochina scored twice while David Goodwillie also netted.

On-loan Tuncay spared Bolton’s blushes with an impressive Trotters debut. With his side one-down at home to Macclesfield, the new boy helped turn things round with a goal and an assist in the 2-1 win. It was Martin Petrov who grabbed the winner, continuing his good early season form for Owen Coyle’s side.

Arsenal showed a real strength of character to send Udinese crashing out of the Champions League qualifiers. Despite going a goal behind, the Gunners proved too good for their hosts and thanks to goals from Robin Van Persie and Theo Walcott, as well as an outstanding penalty save from Wojciech Szczesny, cemented their place in the Group Stages with a morale-boosting victory. Arsene Wenger was delighted with the win:

We have been a little bit under pressure and for us not to play the Champions League and with the players who left, that pressure would’ve increased, understandably. Since the beginning of the season, I feel a very strong, determined attitude within the team. We responded in a very positive way, even being down 1-0.

Harry Redknapp is convinced the Luka Modric to Chelsea story is now dead in the water. The Spurs boss revealed that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy had spoken to the Stamford Bridge club and told them to forgot about signing the player:

“The chairman made another statement last night that he is definitely not going. He said he spoke to Chelsea and he told them, ‘Let’s put an end to this because it’s not going to happen’.”

Redknapp has admitted he will play Modric tonight in the Europa League match with Hearts- the midfielder’s involvement in the game means he would be unable to play in the Champions League until February, if he does leave White Hart Lane before the end of the month.

With Juan Mata joining Chelsea yesterday, there are whispers in the air that Florent Malouda could be on his way to Juventus. While Mata can also play through the middle, his arrival places question marks against Malouda’s game time on the left and with the Frenchman a sub in last week’s home game against West Brom, the link may be stronger than just paper talk.

Joey Barton moved a step closer to a Newcastle exit yesterday. The midfielder underwent a medical ahead of a move to QPR and perhaps unsurprisingly, took to twitter to express his feelings on the situation:

Going for a medical now, still no contract offer from NUFC…….think that just about makes my mind up.Don’t want to leave Newcastle……..I’ve made that clear but my hands are tied.

Well I have played my wild card in a drunken state on Monday! After starting with a stong team GW1, i then abnnoyingly changed it GW2 and now GW3 pretty much chnaged to GW1 again! Nightmare

Any thoughts on new team would be appreciated -in brackets are previous players from GW2.

    Hilaro/Given (same as GW2)
    Bosingwa/Richards/De Laet/R.Taylor/ Enrique (Senderos/Simpson GW2)
    Young/Cleverley/Silva/Jarvis/Dyer SWA (NZog,Moses,Yaya GW2)
    Bent, Suarez, Aguero (Torres GW2)

So six transfers in total but five players haev gone up. Think it was early but will take hit on extra transfers through season.

How much do you have in the bank? I'd get Rooney over Aguero and swap Young for VDV or Walcott. Downgrade Hilario to a 4.0 aswell.

Or if you want two City attackers, downgrade Hilario and Young to Vorm/Ruddy and Nasri. That will give you 1.0 to upgrade Aguero to Rooney.

Nothing in Bank...I was hoping Hilaro would get some clean sheets and for Chelski keeper is cheap. Realise ill have to trancfer him out once Cech is back...May look into gettign rid of Aguero for Rooney however would need to downgrade young for walcott...Thx

Got a feeling that Aguerro may score more than Rooney...Although he was on my GW1 team...downgrading young i think could be a good call...possibly to Nasri...I reckon he will bang them in for City...

lolol...since I come to this site, why do I see a lot of people with this talk on FFS: "Played my wildcard last night, I was drunk, etc etc..." is that an excuse? if you,at least, were the first one saying it, that's ok. but you are not! everyday there's always some guy who played his wildcard drunk... what a lame excuse to justify you're anxiety....

No, its a desperate plea from people to try and get others to think they must have a 'hip' 'cool' social life where they are out drinking with 'buddies' at all times of the night instead of sitting in fron of their computer mulling over decisions about their fantasy football team. Its pathetic, they clearly can't handle the alcohol and what is more, no one cares about their life.

I was sat in front of the computer getting drunk after watching the Arsenal game...Not out with 'buddies'...I was mulling over my team...Ther is nothing pathetic about that...

As for not handling my drink I could drink you under the table you southern fairy...

I post on her often and have never mentioned anything about drinking or my scoial life purely FF. Apologies in future I will not be honest and post that being drunk helped me hit the play wildcard button!

    hilario (Al habsi)
    Jagielka/Simpson/Bosingwa (Kompany/Hughes)
    Silva/Jarvis/Nani/NZogbia (Moses)
    Suarez (c)/Torres/Fletcher

Thinking about either swapping kompany for Richards, or maybe jagielka for jose enrique? Not sure about playing city defenders this week tho away to tottenham, but i have been told everton start bad every year too.

Back on for the first time in a while.

How is Darrent Bent leading this weeks captain poll?! Wolves are arguably the most in-form team in the league and if you'd watched Villa's first two games, Bent hasn't gotten good service and scored his goal through a defensive mistake.

Rooney and Suarez are easily the most solid choices.

My bad, he's not leading it, but in ahead of Rooney?

Superman D.Bent only needs one chance. Saying that, im going for Suarez. Bit concerned he started last night though.

Bent doesn't have a manager like King Kunt who favours that big oaf Carroll. Im sure Suarez will start anyway.

I do find it a bit strange, then again a player who can't find the net at all is 4th choice for cap'n. Ain't got Roo so have to be Suarez for me.

What to do with H2H league?

    Still no fixtures, poor show.

20 teams in it, so starting in GW3 is as silly as GW2 i suppose.

No communication at all from fpl

Hang on, they will fix it soon, and I'm sure it will remember the previous gameweeks so you it will still keep the scores from GW2.

A bit of both but mostly the latter.

Captaincy for me is about choosing the form players.

It could be a brilliant move if he gets 3, hardly anyone else would do it and could close the gap on those above you. It is a risk though, if Mata started I would do.

He's more central. They have Heitinga as a holding mid in front of Jagielka & Distin. This allows Arteta, Barkley, Rodwell etc to go forward more often.
