Manchester United have just joined Edin Dzeko in turning Gameweek three upside down.

In 90 minutes of football, United simply blitzed a bewildered Arsenal, ravaged by injury and suspension, ill-equipped and unprepared for the waves of United attacks and individual brilliance thrown at them.

For Fantasy owners of Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young, United’s 8-2 win has brought a rare bounty of points that will have transformed their Gameweek scoring. Three goals and an assist from Rooney, a brace and and three assists from Young, the returns are beyond our wildest expectations and the stuff of nightmares for Arsenal fans and their beleaguered manager who could only watch on while their inexperienced and shell-shocked side were dismantled. Those Fantasy managers without the United pair are unlikely to feel much better – mini-leagues have been turned on their head by today’s events.

This afternoon will have a major impact on the Fantasy Premier League game with Young and Rooney now inevitably set to enjoy huge investment during the international break. Prices will rise, Wildcards will flutter – an extraordinary end to our Fantasy Gameweek.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Alright so kneejerk is over, and it's time to survey the damage.

After watching both of the big games yesterday, I thought City actually outperformed United. Tottenham had a far stronger team out than Arsenal and had home advantage. To get totally swept aside by the magic of Silva, Aguero, Nasri and Dzeko was great to watch. I always felt they could somehow find a way through.

United also played well, but Rooney needed set pieces and Young scored two goals from outside the box for the goals. It was more a case of accurate and deadly finishing and an extremely poor Arsenal team rather than United being amazing. They also conceded two soft goals so they might be a bit weaker at the back.

Considering fixtures and form, City players definitely look the way forward. Any one of Silva, Nasri, Aguero or Dzeko could score huge. On current form and with raw stats on his side, Dzeko looks a nailed on pick and in midfield, Nasri played a really direct game down the left which means a lot of crosses into the box and consequently a lot more assists. If City continue the same shape, Nasri will probably be a better pick than Silva who played slightly deeper as a playmaker drifting in from the right and spreading play to Nasri down the left.

Nasri looked to take a lot from Silva, assist wise. I know this is an impossible question to answer but anyone want to take a stab, he must be nailed on starter unless injury strikes. Champions league or not.

Set pieces are very much a big help to Young. He looks like he's taken his central winger role at Villa smoothly to the United team and has increased his attacking potential accordingly.

          Definitely worth getting.

Nani has been disappointing so far, but he's one of the few players who has that explosive ability to turn a game.

You will still need coverage from Manu, Manc & Arsenal.

      Nicely put, thanks for that.

I didn't get to see the Spurs-City so good to hear another angle on it what with all the utd supporters on here. In terms of stats you could say City did better as they had a 5:1 ratio v's a 4:1- but that's the sort of stuff that gives statistics a really bad name.

Silva assisting the assists again, shouldn't be surprised by that but I was definitely disappointed he scored 2pts with that result. Although reading some match reports it seems he was close on 1 or 2 occasions to scoring a goal himself.

See I need to find support for Silva because I have him and getting Nasri in would seem a feeble waste of one of my 2 free transfers especially with Silva almost set for another price rise (maybe tomorrow or Wednesday).

Biggest thoughts in my head right now are about who is crucial to have from City. Dzeko's stats can't be argued with but then not can Mancini's (rotation). If I was to get him in I'd have to downgrade Frank to a 9.0 or below so I could upgrade Holt and even though I want rid of FF I can't convince myself of Walcott, Cahill, Arteta etc. despite their fixtures. Plus Holt's next few games aren't that bad and he's just broken his duck this season away to Chelsea so confidence should be getting stronger.

This is why we play this game right? For the headaches we inevitably create for ourselves.

Anyway, how are you progressing with your transfer plans for the int'l break?

This talk of Nasri taking away from Silva's points strikes me as nonsense tbh. Silva was the best player for City today after Dzeko, just unfortunate that his points didnt reflect it but on another day that would have been 3 assists for him and nothing for Nasri.

        The question for me is:

        Lampard + budget striker

        OR

        RVP + budget midfielder

        OR

spread my bets with Young and Dzeko

Seems one of the first two make more sense as I'd feel a lot more comfortable captaining Lamps or RVP although the budget players haven't performed well so far.

        Thoughts?

It's a nightmare. The budgito's under-performing has me wanting Young and Dzeko but I can't make that happen without taking a hit or removing Suarez/Rooney.

Is frank going to justify 12.0 this year? I have him but feel I should get rid with the likes of Young, Mata (granted it's very early days with him and Nasri emerging as much better value and, who knows, maybe even Walcott. If that Arsenal defence isn't sorted they'll be needing a lot more goals so he could profit.

Why did Arsenal not put defenders on the posts for free kicks? It works to put pressure on the taker even if they can't cover the very top corner. The tiny amount of football I played you always had players on the posts for all set pieces near the goal.

Always for corners but I used to be a keeper and never had anyone back for free kicks. I have seen them try it sometimes but only at the very last second before the free is taken and if a striker follows them in they run straight back out.

Not really a problem when you at the individual scores of the City attackers so far. Silva, Dzeko, Aguero and Nasri's gw points have all been consistently good thus far.
Nobody would have captained Nani this time last season because it didnt look right, but that quickly changed.

But the point is in a normal GW (ie Rooney & Young not scoring ridiculous amounts) you'd be delighted to have captained Nasri and Dzeko today, and content with Aguero. IN GW2 you'd be happy captaining Silva or Dzeko. In GW1 you'd be happy captaining Dzeko, Silva or Aguero.
So looks to me like they're all reliable. Similar to how people were oohing and aahing over who to captain between Rooney, Berbatov and Nani for United or Malouda, Lampard and Drogba for Chelsea last season.

Trying to construct a reasonable 4-week transfer strategy that doesn't require taking any hits, playing a WC or missing out on too many potential points. And then gets me a more solid looking team for the future.

I currently have 2 free transfers so if I make 1 this GW and 1 in GW5 then I still have 2 in GW6 right?

Bigger issue, in all of your wise opinions, is Dzeko (on form and with nice fixtures to come) likely to rise by more than 0.5 by GW6?

rising by .5 in one gameweek is surely unheard of? (although I don't know to be honest).

Yes, you will have 2 in gw 6. You can never have more than 2 though and if you decide to play WC in gw 6 you will lose the extra trade, in other words you will start with 1 free trade again in gw 7 if you wc in 6.

Knee jerked 1 of my 2 free transfers already this week... Torres -> Dzeko before the respective price fall/rise.

    Leaves me with:

    Hilario, Ruddy
    Bosingwa, Dunne, Brown, Senderos, Simpson
    Silva, Nani, Sessegnon, Moses, Sinclair
    Suarez, Dzeko, Bent
    Bank 2.5m

Any ideas for the other freebie? Thinking Bent -> either Rooney/RVP...

Morning Christina - I think you're right - i'll probably wait until near the end of the gameweek and use the freebie then. The plan was to play Hilario if Cech was still out for GW4, and if not Ruddy would come in at home to West Brom. So Ruddy getting a red scuppered my back up plan. Was also counting on Senderos playing in GW4 - is he behind Baird now? Either way i'll most likely leave him in for the time being.

I think I'd rather get RVP/Rooney in and play no keeper, so that may well happen if Cech is back. You reckon Bent -> RVP or Rooney?

My plan was El Torro-->Rvp and then downgrade a mid for my 2 free trades.

Opted for Dzeko last night though. Keeping my 2nd trade to see how the int break pans out.

Sitting with Roon+Dzeko+Suarez at the moment.

          * Sorry for all the Bent owners( I have nzoggers and he looked okay, although selfish and way off target with his shots)

Villa/Wolves were always going to be tight. Bent was nowhere to be seen.

      Hi Jinswick
I don't advise on Bent. I just replaced him for Dzeko. My front 3 are Rooney (Capt), Dzeko, and Aguero. Bent is one of the best hitmen in the league but he doesn't have enough a good enough supply anymore since Ashley Young's departure. Only Agbonlahor was trying to feed him from the left. N'zogbia appears to be selfish and slow.

I agree, I already have Bent though so am looking to get rid of him this week, either for RVP (good fixtures) or Rooney (good form). Both are pivotal to their team's success so it's a tricky choice - you have Rooney, but if you didn't would you sway towards him over RVP given upcoming fixtures?

Aren't you glad you kept those freebies?

Moses-keep largely because he offers the most potential for a 5 miller. Let's face it - you are going to need these cheepies now with the these heavy hitters about.

Sess-I believe in him and I'm keeping for now particulalry as SUN's fix start to soften.

      Nzoggers-boot, boot, boot.

There are so many cheap defenders offering routes to clean sheets right now that the likes of Jags and Bad K are becoming surplus to requirements.

      Lots to think about.
